  • This is the Part 3 video of John Simmance's new twin cylinder slide valve model steam engine, showing the assembly completed up to the cylinders, pistons and conrods in the integral two cylinder bloak, It contimues to show the machining of the tins slide valve plate that will serve both cylinders.

    @mikruson The cylinder block is aluminium, and the cylinder bores are drilled undersize, then reamed to size, and then lapped wet with 400 grit, then 600 grit, and lastly 1500 grit wet or dry paper over an aluminium mandrel. It takes a bit of time, but it gives very good results. Glad you like it - Cheers - John.

    That is the smallest cut I have ever seen. You sir make it look easy but l have broken bigger cutter then that looking at them wrong. Wowed is an understatement. Thanks for sharing.

    I have a question;is the cylinders block made of aluminium or steel?
    How did you finish the cylinder whole?
