Plus, not all sports cars buyers are petrolheads. As in, they don’t care about what engine is in their car, what transmission it has. They buy sports cars for the looks and the driving enjoyment, by the quick, responsive steering and the speed of the car. Plus these more small-engine versions can be really popular, especially in markets where big-engined cars are slaughtered on tax. That’s where the 2.0-litre A90 is a winner. Put this into context, just over half of all F-Type sales were 2.0-litre 4 pots.

Tbh, all the hate for the 2.0L shows that a lot of people aren't car guys. They just love the Supra because it's popular now. They just jump in on the trend. However, for real car enthusiasts, they love this 2 litre because this kinda pays homage to them JGTC Supras that were running on 3SGTE engines-those were turbocharged 4 bangers.

True mane. I really don’t trust car guys who only care about HP, because at the end of the day the original sport cars that started it all were small, nimble and only made around 110 HP or less.
I understand that in this day and age cars have to be chunkier and heavier than before to hold all of that safety stuff that’s required, but 2.0 ain’t bad, they’re still quick and nimble, just like the original sport cars. Obviously if you want to set a new land speed record or you need a truck to tow your boat then yeah get yourself a big engine, but 2.0 ain’t bad if you just wanna have some twisty road fun without breaking the bank

IMO The 3.0 is for performance, and the 2.0 is a cheaper package ready for engine swappers and posers who want the looks. The 2.0 is almost trying to compete with Toyota's own GT86 (soon GR86) but with more weight and no manual option. And yes, the complaint of the GT86 is the NA power levels, but people don't understand that Toyota have left it to the tuning shops to provide the forced induction. The GT86 is a well balanced base car to be built up in to an individuals requirement, whether that is NA, turbo or supercharger. The 2.0 Supra doesn't have the same vibe to it.

Not everybody buys the car for the engine. Most of us buys the car because of the look and affordability. For example, I absolutely love the design of the RS5 compared to the base model (pretty basic), but it is way too expensive for what it is and probably way too crazy for normal everyday driving.

Ok, the 3 litre has no 382hp. It has 340hp, even in newer versions it doesn't have 382hp. And to be more precise, that 2 litre B48 is more similar to the 30i versions found in the 3 series or the Z4. The one in the M135i has different turbos, more power and is built across, not lengthwise.
Soundwise, you always need to engage the Sport mode combined with the DTC limited traction mode. For some reason BMWs and everything related to them only then reveal their full sound.

The focus was on North American owners club who asked for the new Z. Im a member on the Z UK forum and lets be honest enthusiasm wasnt great compared to America. There was a lot of doubt and negativity. Also UK market is biased towards German cars anyway. Im suprised Toyota continue to try sell this car in EU. Nissan may only bring the new GTR to EU if they feel like it. Theres not much demand. US is a different story. The numbers dont lie. We tune in Europe.
