At least 129 people were killed and nearly 200 were injured during a riot and stampede at a football stadium in Indonesia on October 1, 2022. Fans angry about th outcome of a match had invaded the pitch and police responded with tear gas triggering the deadly crash at Kanjuruhan stadium in the eastern city of Malang. Fans of Arema FC reportedly stormed the pitch after their team lost to their bitter rival Persebaya Surabaya for the first time in more than 20 years. By October 3, authorities had updated the casualty toll to 125 deaths and over 300 injuries. Warning: The following video contains graphic images which may be disturbing to some viewers.

Since there's a lot of misunderstanding regarding this tragedy in the comment section, let me clarify a few things.
1. The Persabaya supporters were not allowed to watch that match due to concerns of chaos because of rivalries. So it was all Arema supporters.
2. The main cause of lots of death is not because of the fighting and beating but because of TEAR GASES that were thrown by the authority.
Sorry for my bad English, If you have any questions you can reply to this comment. I'll try my best to answer them.
How does this change anything? Thus just proves Indonesia should be avoided. After this I would feel safer in place like Bangladesh than Indonesia where people live in the stone age.
@@shekboi8316 That's true, it doesn't change anything. I'm not trying to justify this whole thing. But people seem to think that the cause of death was because of fighting whereas most of the victims were women and children that suffocated because of the tear gas.
@@Lunehardt So, basically the chaos started from the football fans itself.. The chaos made by the toxic fans has made the police to take extreme measures such as using tear gases.. The number of deaths can be prevent if the fans@supporters know how to behave..

@@grizzyb3767 It's not an easy answer, my friend. Even in another countries, there were football riots although it didn't caused much fatalities like this. shame on you travis scott
Mob mentality at its absolute best. 😞
You can apologize by stopping the league.
Exactly. Although many said that the incident is becauce of the fault of the enforcer, personally i think the root of the problem is provocator.
The main the reason that so many people died is the use of TEAR GAS by the authorities. The biggest blunder is them shooting tear gas on to spectator seats when the people on that seats didnt even participate on the RIOT. This causes chaos and many people panic and try to run away from tear gas on to the exit of the stadium. This causes STAMPEDE because how crowded and chaotic the exit are, people are getting ran over while trying to exit the STADIUM, ultimately claiming 129 lives (RIP)
My opinion is both the ANARCHIST and the POLICE are at fault for the 129 lives lost in this tragedy. The ANARCHIST started the riot so they are at fault. And the POLICE use of tear gas in Football Stadium is apparently PROHIBITED by FIFA which make them at fault also.
Deep condolences for the lives lost and many injured

If the police didn't shot tear gas into the stands inside the stadium, the casualties will not be this massive. The funny thing is, no officials were punished for this, or even having conscience to resign from their position.
You may not realize this but this is not the first time something like this has happened. Indonesian football fans are pretty much insane, I think they killed a reff once because they thought he made a bad call and lost them the game.
So you’re defending a bunch of fans that caused a massive riot because they were salty at losing a match, you do realise that the situation could’ve been even worse if nobody was there to stop them, not to mention the supporters killed 2 officers before the tear gas was even shot, so the officers didn’t just use tear gas on a whim, I’m not saying the tear gas didn’t cause casualties, it’s just if they didn’t use the tear gas then people would’ve still died anyways, and there probably would’ve been even more injuries
no, this was not because of mere disappointment, this was because the incompetence of people to regulate their emotion. They rampage as soon as they heard their favorite team lost the match, as if the world would end for them if their team lose a single match

Finally Indonesia soccer league can go internationally 😀
in a bad way...of course 😄
This is proof that Indonesia is indeed one of the countries of all time !
We joking here right?
World record baby 😂😱
Brilliant and exemplary achievement I’d say
It broke my heart when among those who died there was a 2 y.o child 😭. Rest in Peace, semoga Husnul Khotimah. Aamiin
Now i know why some mlbb lossers in Indonesia can hardly accept defeat..
Meh it's more of "the reason why sea server is so toxic" 😂
I am very proud to see the achievements of football in my country.
Now Indonesian football has improved a lot, even the UFC is nothing

What a shame, horrible!
Turut beduka cita.

Come to Indonesia, people are very friendly!!!! 👍👍👍👍

Iya ke bule
Indonesians really need to educate themselves the spirit of sportsmanship. RIP to all victims and deepest condolences to their families.
They can't. Why? Because it's a part of their culture.
It's already rooted...hard for them to change. But i believe not all are behaving like this
So unexpected and unfortunate thing's happen people still behave like an immature kids
What a shame
This reminds me of the Malice at the Palace back in 2004. This truly shows how disgusting people can act especially during a sporting event. Thoughts and prayers go out to those involved.
Not even close, no one died that night
Indonesian are the first Asian in world cup
Horrible! It should not reach to a point where fans should blame someone because of their team's loss. I think the players have accepted their defeat in that game as a sign of sportsmanship. But the fans? They should understand defeat us just part of the game... As an avid fan they should know this rule. My sympathy and condolences to all those who have died in that very tragic event..
Indonesian are the first Asian in world cup
Very sad. Now this stadium is scheduled for destruction. It’s like hitting the floor when a child falls down, it’s not the fault of the floor…
That's like when you burnt your egg, you blame the frying pan.
di indo yg barbar bukan netizen doang, citizennya juga
Netizen kan cerminan dari Citizen
Indo are barbaric also in internet
In Indonesia goals dont decide who wins, the last standing player does.
