The problem of stupidity is that it usually affects other people.
Poor woman... I'm glad she is stable.
This is how a typical Chinese are educated since childhood. Their text book never explained the importance of “considerate”. It’s all about surviving, hates and how not to loose out to others .

Right. The woman noticed the danger quickly and reacted right away. But it's impossible for her to outrun a heavy suitcase pulled down by gravity. Just imagine if she had been a little higher up the escalator steps when the suitcase came torpedoeing down. Might have a more serious or fatal injury if that was the case. Thank goodness she was already near the bottom steps when she got hit.
exactly
But think in another perspective, if she standed on the higher steps, the suitcase might not be that fast due to the gravitational acceleration.
The luggage wouldn't have caught so much speed and the woman would have been much more balanced and grounded on the steps.

But if she was on the escalator the suitcase would have hit her in the knees which could have caused her to fall on her back hit her head on the edge of the stair and roll down the stairs or fall on her face and roll face first on the grounds which would have almost been fatal.

Serious question here. Coming from a culture that builds on self-responsibility and agreeableness, I always wonder why it appears that in other cultures the call for punishment and state involvement is much closer to say finding a solution privately. Not to say that either one is better, I'm just really curious why this difference exists. What would be your reasons for your preference in this?
@@robezy0 I sort of have an answer for this,
Lots of people have different opinions so that's why they people argue about what should be done and shouldn't.
In this case, I see it as the person who dropped the suitcase should have a punishment due to harming another person.
But another person could say it was the woman's fault for not moving out of the way quicker.
Hope you have some understanding ")
@@truebeliever3148 Thank you for providing a considerate answer. I think most people would agree that it's the suitcase owner's fault. The part where my cultural approach would differ would be to prefer finding a solution to the issue as it was an accident. Therefore it's unfamiliar to me that people on Asian media are always quick to demand the state to deliver punishment and I really want to understand this.
@@robezy0 Yes, cultural differences matter.
I see you are from a calm and peaceful civilization, so punishment may seem harsh.
punishment is not always needed and peace and understanding is what should be the outcome of a situation.
Punishment is the most likely result in this case, due to harming another.
The part which you don't understand is why give a punishment if it was an accedint.(Correct me if I'm wrong)
It's because people see the woman as the victim and the suitcase owner a threat.
Maybe the suitcase owner made a mistake and does not need to suffer consciences, but needs to apologise for the harm they have brought.
But many people won't see this as a possibility and put the full blame on the suitcase owner , because that's whats shown in the video. 'A careless person dropping a suitcase on the escaloter while lady is still on it.' See what I mean? People see a different part of the picture and base their opinion on that. I hope you understand it sorry if its long .
@@truebeliever3148 I can see your point and I'd immediately agree that if the suitcase owner would react unreasonable to her mistake, she'd deserve to be punished. However, we can't tell her reaction from the video, so my first wish would be that she could make up for her mistake and offer a acceptable compensation without needing the government to force her to. But most people's reaction here seem to demand the authorities to step in straight away. I wonder, is this because they generally believe people to be too unapologetic/unreasonable to settle the issue or do they simply prefer the state to handle civil cases like this one?
