Excellent tyres. Grip great from cold. Great in the wet. Stick like poo to a blanket in the twisties. Handle gravel roads really well. Disappear rapidly in warm weather. I got 4500klms out of the rear and 7000klms out of the front on a BMW F900XR.

You figure they don’t last long in warmer dry climates? Why is that?

Good choice. I ran a set a couple of years back on a GS and thought they were excellent, particularly in the winter. I didnt get great mileage from them, just under 4000 miles but Scottish back roads are like 40 grit sandpaper and notorious for wearing out tyres. It's totally different when I go abroad. Looking forward to the follow up.

Great choice, I had great experience with Dunlop Mutant tyres 👍

Thinking of these for my next set.. realistically this is all the tyre most of us will ever need, especially in the UK with our shocking road surfaces.

Tires are like beers. You should try them all.

I'll happily consider other tyres, but its a leap of faith which can mean either putting up with a set of tyres you don't like or spending a load of cash to replace them before they've worn out.

Great tires! I had a set on my Concours 14 and loved them. Only thing is they are very picky on tire pressure. I ran them 2000 miles with the front at 36psi and got a serious low pressure wear pattern. Upped it to 42psi for another 2000 miles and the wear slowed down but the damage was done and it needed to be replaced. The rear was kept at 42psi the full 4000 miles and showed minimal wear. About a month before the end of my riding season I picked up a nail in the rear, just plugged it for the last few rides. I put on a set of Michelin Road 6 GTs to try. It will be interesting to see the difference tween the two and how they handle and feel. The Mutants did teach me a lesson on tire pressure tho, gonna keep these Road 6’s at 42/42 haha

Gotta say, 42 on the front seems high, Is that normal for any bike - might be.

So what is your verdict? Michelin 6 or Mutants? I’m considering these as my finalists for new shoes!

@@anxiousappliancethat’s what the Concours 14 calls for and after wearing out two front tires (the original Bridgestone and the Mutants) in 4000 miles at 36 psi I went with what the manual says.

@@jaywhoisit4863well as of now it’s a toss up. I haven’t gotten enough miles on the Road 6’s yet to give an idea of how long they will last but they are a great tire. They definitely will probably last longer than the Mutants just because of their tread pattern. I think it comes down to your riding style and where you live. The Road 6 are a great road tire and the Mutants are also but they can do more. Where I live the towns love to do oil and stone roads. You may be riding along and come to a town line and the road goes from pavement to fresh oil and stone. The Mutants handle stuff like that with ease. Also the grip in the wet is phenomenal. I haven’t ridden in a torrential downpour with the Road 6’s like I did with the Mutants yet, but they perform great in the rain I have been in.

@@andrewhutson6450 I’m equatorial. So we have a lot of rain and a long hot dry season. Roads are varied between rutted gravel to superb national highways. I spend a bit of time on the rough crap which is why I was leaning towards the mutants. I have mitas 07 on the bike now and recently low sided on a wet roundabout. Not very confidence inspiring. How do the 6s handle a bit of gravel or dirty road surface?

Both are great tyres. I have currently got 2000 on mine and they don’t appear to have changed at all. Can’t say for the weight of the 1600 though. Worth a go though

Thanks for the constructive comments. Tyres are a personal thing as we said and they are confidence inspiring for me and coming from a horrid set of tyres the difference was incredible and they are still amazing tyres too. Still going strong
