This was so great and detailed and I can’t wait to play with this and make some swirled lentils! Thank you for sharing!❤ I just subscribed! Can’t wait to see more of your videos!
Thank you so much for this detailed tutorial. I'm 79 and Maine winters start to drag in mid-January. Have enjoyed several of your videos. They'll keep me busy until spring!
Thank you, I am so happy to hear you prefer this style! (I don't like voice-overs, either. They feel contrived somehow.) I see your name includes fondant... I'm assuming you also do cakes? Try this technique with fondant as well... I'm thinking it would probably work. Lots of clay techniques also work with fondant. Have fun!
Thank you Cindy ! I understand better now the movements of the dough. I thought she was just spinning as she climbs too. It is very logical of course since the lens rises in tip more tapered.
Thank you so much Cindy. I have watched so many people across RUclips making these, but they have simply failed to explain in any detail the mechanics of making them. I will watch this a few times and have a go at making a small one for the BPCG Anniversary in Sept when we are all taking beads (I am very new to clay) for a national children's Cancer charity called Beads of Courage. It's a wonderful cause and I hope people look it up on the BPCG Website or Google it. All the best from Scotland xx
Thankyou for sharing your talent and creativity, greatly appreciated. :) Been wanting to make beads for ages, but thought it would cost me quite a bit of money for the bits and bobs so been saving up. Your ingenious use for the CD case was just brilliant and not having to get bead makers etc will save me money that i can spend on some great clay colors to make (hopefully) beads as beautiful as yours.
Thank you for your kind comments! There are lots of improvised tools you can find in your house to get started. I would suggest watching several of my videos on bead making, baking and working with polymer clay in general. The one tool I would recommend getting is a separate oven thermometer. They are around $5 or so at the grocery store but will save you from under baking or burning your clay. Have fun, practice and enjoy the learning process!
Wonderful video Cindy! All of the rolling tips were really helpful as I've tried making lentil beads before but haven't had much luck. I'd love a video on how to put holes in them.
Beautifully explained, thank you. It really look fun to do and it's a brilliant idea to use extruded cane slices. Watching those slices rise to the centre is amazing. Pure science!
The Mod Cane version is fabulous!! Your technique demo is excellent, I've struggled with mine going oval, but hopefully that won't be a problem anymore :) Thank you xx
I am so impressed, I am new at polymer clay. I’ve been trying to make flower cane and these lentil beads, is been a little challenging. I am wondering if is because of the clay that I am using? I am using sculpey III I find it very soft. I don’t know if is my clay. Please advise!
That pretty awesome to watch when you did the second one with the mod cane pieces. You could probably make some kind of jig or tool to do this. If you take one of those stamp blocks, drill a hole in each corner, take a bolt and put a nut a bit in from the end, put it in the hole and put another nut on the end to secure it in the block, do this to each corner so you have 4 "feet" like a little table and then add a felt pad to the head of the bolt like those used on furniture or coasters so the block will freely slide on a smooth surface. You could adjust the height to make any side bead by moving the nuts up and down on the bolt and you could also make them pretty consistent in size and shape. Hope that made sense.
Hi there i have been watching these lentil clay beads now for awhile and i love them and i have made some but i would love to know how to make them shinny do you glaze them if so how and with what do you glaze them with please help i love these beads
I am a beginner with clay and in the process of purchasing my supplies. I plan on going to Tap Plastics and having some acrylic pieces made. What size is the piece you are working on and what size are the pieces you are rolling with? Thank you for your educational video. I love your lentil beads.
They are beautiful, I have try doing them but they don't come out like that, I'm going to fallow what you said and see how they come out. Thank you. Oh and yes would like to see how to make the hole.
Awesome tutorial, and I especially liked the CD case tip! I would have never thought of that! I've actually looked at acrylic pads online, completely forgetting the fact that I have a bunch of CDs tucked away in a shelf... Thanks! You've been really helpful :)
but be careful, hard plastic often reacts with polymer clay, so any leftover clay on the plastic can eat away at it and melt the plastic, which ruins the plastic as well as the clay that's stuck to it. That's why I'd be careful with the CD cases.
Loved the video! As you may know, I just purchased your tutorial on how to make lentils and was hoping you would show how to make a hole from point to point. I am especially interested in seeing it done with a more bicone shaped bead--I actually saw a bicone shaped bead with a hole from point to point in your bowl of lentil beads.
So glad I watched, I never for a moment would have thought that ring of cane would ever stretch all the way to the middle, but it does and looks amazing! I will have to give that a go :D Thank you so much for a great video ^_^
I love watching your videos!. I've been playing around with lentils for a bit now. Mine do not look as good as yours. I have trouble making them evenly flat like the finished one you have on the peirced bead.
Hola buenas me gustan tus tutoriales estan muy bonitos. He probado hacerlos pero no me salen no se si tienes algun truco no me quedan asi .una pregunta la masa tiene q estar seca gracias
Wut a n depth tutorial. Thx so very much for the awesome video. I'm knew to this, but I'm loving ur great n depth discussion on this technique.. Keep up the great work of

Let me just say that I was so impressed with how you did that. I've been watching your videos all morning and learning SO much. Thank you for having these tutorials for us beginners. Also, how long and at what temperature do you bake the beads at?
she never answers questions but wants you to go to her baking videos. She also never finished a project to get you to watch all the other videos but they are all out there somewhere. lOL
What a fantastic demo of how the clay is brought up to the center. Thank you for your time and expertise, xx
Even through this video is five years old I want to thank you for the step by step tutorial it was very helpful
Ooh that’s pretty. Do you have a tutorial on how to make wood effects beads please?
I love your videos so informative. Best tutor ever.
Thank you Deeksha! You are the sweetest!
I have used this technique, but a few years ago, so thank you so much for your great video, as I welcomed a refresher course!..
This was so great and detailed and I can’t wait to play with this and make some swirled lentils! Thank you for sharing!❤ I just subscribed! Can’t wait to see more of your videos!
Wow! It looked like something which would take hours to make, not a way to use up scrap clay!! Can't wait to have a go!
Thank you so much for this detailed tutorial. I'm 79 and Maine winters start to drag in mid-January. Have enjoyed several of your videos. They'll keep me busy until spring!
That last bit of demo was the best explanation of swirling technique. I’ve always wondered how some people made such colorful patterns. Thank you!!!
You are very welcome Linda! 💖
That. Was. Awesome! Thank you so much, I have never seen anything like that before! That was a cool demo!
Great tutorial, beautiful beads! Thank you!
Best tutorial I've seen so far in polymer clay! The way we see the material from the "equator" moving into the middle of the bead - impressing!!
I really appreciate the kind words! Glad it made sense for you!
I want to make this now! Yes want to see how to make holes in them!
I tried so hard... Over 30 minutes...
Thx to you i got it in 5 minutes!❤️

I love making swirly beads. I love the tip about how to add the cane slices. Thanks.
Thank you for this. And I look forward to putting in the holes.
You are so welcome!
Thank you Cindy ! I understand better now the movements of the dough. I thought she was just spinning as she climbs too. It is very logical of course since the lens rises in tip more tapered.
Wow awesome transformation 👌🏻😍!!!!
I love this, you made it so clear!!
Thank you so much for the details of how to make these beads! I loved how you added the other pieces and they swirled to the middle.
