I know I’m a bit late watching this one but thanks for explaining how you start a painting and your thought process throughout it. Sometimes trying to find a place to start is the hardest part.

Hi, I am new to your channel. I found you while trying to figure out how to mix a nice alternative for quinacridone rose. It is sad that the quinacridone is being discontinued as they are nice bright clean colours. Would you make a video on how mix alternatives for these high chroma colours? 🙏 Glad I found your channel.

Welcome to the channel. My first suggestion would be to use the quinacridone from another brand. It's a very nice and useful pigment indeed, so it seems very strange to me that a brand would discontinue this color, which brand is that? I've put you're question on the list with ideas for videos, but to put it quickly: the only way to mix high chroma colors yourself, is by using a maximum of two primary colors. For example: primary yellow (or an alternative like cadmium yellow light) with magenta make vivid yellow orange, orange, orange red and red colors.
But if you would like to make very vivid yellow-orange, you could of course also use vermillion + a primary yellow, because vermillion is already a color that lies between the primaries yellow and magenta. As soon as you mix more than two primaries, the mixture gets less saturated.
But there are a lot of other things that come to play as well of course, because for instance even when you put some slightly less vivid colors next to each other, the overall picture looks vivid.
So, I hope this helps a bit and I'll do a video on this topic one day!👍
