    Great idea. For a small coop a large dog box tray could do. Thanks for the idea.

    This is what I use for my hens. Save your next, plastic parmesan cheese jar. It makes an excellent PDZ sifter. I use a 5 gallon bucket to store my PDZ in, and just leave the cheese jar in it - filled and ready to go 😊

      Its been working great. Hardly any mess on the floor. Kelly uses a miniature leaf rake to sift out the waste. No smell in the coop. Thanks for watching.

    Started using this after seeing this video and omg! No poop smell in the coop hen house. Also no flies. And I use diamatecious on the floor as well and I swear I'll never use anything else

    Wow! I'm building a 4x6 coop now and I put vinyl tile on the floor. I am going to try this! I have a couple small coops that I use and that looks great for the older hens. I pick out my coops every other day. What a great idea!

      Still working great. No odor in the coop and it catches 90% of the poop.

    I use this 70/30 play sand to pdz. It's much cheaper and you can still sift it.

    I’ve been doing this since I got chickens, just using play sand and a kitty litter scoop, buy 2 bags of sand a year

    I have a removable shelf under roosting bars i put a layer of news paper on. Every other day i pick the tray off the shelf drop the deposits into mulch sometimes i have to replace another layer but not every time. Very little on floor.

    How many chickens do you have and how often do you need to scoop?

      20 chickens. Usually weekly. Works great. Very little smell.

    What do you use on the floor of the coop? Sand? I was trying to get a closer look, but couldn't make it out.

    • @markellyfarm
      @markellyfarm  7 месяцев назад +1

      Floor of the coop is cement and then we throw down shavings for cushion and moisture absorption.

  • @seankerwin5346

    Unfortunately mine would kick that all over floor.

    How often do you change out that chicken litter?

    • @markellyfarm
      @markellyfarm  Год назад +4

      You dont really change it out. You just sift the droppings off the top. Just add more every now and then. You font want to go more than a week or so without cleaning. It really keeps the smell and ammonia to a minimum. Surprising how clean the floor stays.

      Its working great. It sifts out very easy. We haven't had to replace any material yet and the coop floor stays much cleaner. The smell is very minimal as well.
