I love this artist. He weaves artistry education with great tips and recommendations. I got the Laura Mercier powder and after years of looking wierd with powders this one actually got me compliments. Please keep using this Pro ❤
I haven't even finished watching this video but I just have to say thankyou so much for this! We need more educational videos like this one so that we understand what our skin needs and what suits us and not get brainwashed into buying everything available on the shelf. Thankyou so much! Please keep doing these...maybe one for eyelid primers so that we can differentiate which ones are for oily lids or which ones are for creating a base color on the lid.
OMG the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer is amazing just went to Sephora and bought the bigger one for myself after giving my daughter the 1oz lv lv for my oily skin
Can you please do a similar video on eyelid priming. I have tried sooo many primers, waiting a few min for them to set, setting with powder, not setting.. And I have dry skin! But my eyelids are super oily and shadow never stays.
I have that but it's pretty pale for my eyelids (as you can see, I'm olive toned lol) so I use it as a base if I'm using bright coloured shadows. It really makes them pop. 😀
a brand not a lot of people talk about that I would recommend is Trish McEvoy. their eye base essential is amazing for evening out eyelid color and making shadow stay all day and they come in different shades. they're very natural looking too.
Thank you for teaching me how to use primers correctly, as far as the pea size amount to use on my face. Using the primers correctly make a difference to make sure the make-up doesn’t go anywhere and lasts long.
Thank you! Clear and detailed, just what I needed! I was looking for a video on this but all I could find was video's where people where just going on and on about a product without actually fully explaining what it does.
Thanks Jefferey you tutorial education has helped me a lot with tools, and tips, and so is your education on Bronzing Vs. Contouring is my favorite. I love Hoola Bronzer by Benefit, and Too Faced is what I love to use now Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer smells so delicious. I'd prefer natural matte over shimmer bronzing.
Hello, Just wanted to Say Love all these Videos Great tips & tricks. I wanted to ask a question would any of these Primers work on Deep Frown lines around the Mouth ? if not is there anything else that You can suggest ? Any Help would be Greatly appreciated. Thanks so Much, Keep up the Good work
Hi butterfly1974able, yes, some of the primers mentioned in this video will work for those that have fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth area! Based on your concerns, we recommend using a smoothing primer.
I ❤️ Makeup For Ever. I had a travel size one and it lasted me 5 months , I'm going to the becca . I ❤️the Caudelie , I bought it base of you guys suggestion
OMGosh this was extremely helpful, answered my question about how to lock my makeup in place while I sweat during summer. Thank you Jeffery, looking good.
That is a lot of information but very appreciated! Thank you as I am a make up minimalist and I am trying to branch out. What would be a good brush for the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder?
Hi Martha! We recommend the Laura Mercier Velour Puff (www.sephora.com/velour-puff-P110012) or the Kat Von D Lock It Setting Powder Brush (www.sephora.com/lock-it-setting-powder-brush-P409989) to apply the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder.
Are you being sarcastic? If not, don't fall for it. He BARELY touched the side with the setting powder on it, because if he really would have dragged his finger across it, it would have smeared all over the place. Try it at home. I mean, the powder is good and does set the makeup, but he was being deceptive 😕
Great video. I'm surprised u didn't mention what foundations go with what primers. Like silicone based primers and silicone foundations and water based primers and water based foundations etc... Very important info
erica vigil - exactly. I was hoping they would discuss this as well. I have watched all the foundation videos and this has not been discussed. I was told that you cannot mix the different types of primers and foundations together
@erica vigil I know this is an older video but I was wondering the same thing. Sometimes foundations that don’t have silicone near the top of the ingredients are still silicone based - that’s where I get tripped up. Unless I see a name like “Water Based” I have a hard time telling - I love Urban Decay Naked Skin, which is watery, but I’m not sure what primer it looks best with.
Thank you so much for this video! I now have a better understanding of how primers work and which ones will work best for me. Keep these awesome informational videos coming!
Thank you so much for your videos. I love makeup but am so bad and lazy w/ it. You help me pick products to try for my type of skin. I don't seem to get this kind of help in store.😞 I'm older now and feel I need to wear it. Just have no clue where to start. So again THANK YOU
Jeffrey I love u so much! I learned a lot from u. Can u please vlog on choosing the correct foundation. I am in my fifties and have an oily face. Can u pls help me choose a correct foundation?
Thank you so much, I literally feel like I’m in school, I have to take notes for everything lol, your video is very informative and you really went into details in explaining everything, well done. Now I know what to buy for my oily skin, my make up always looks flawless when I’m at home but it looks rubbish when I come back after a day out 😩😩 Cuz of my oily skin everything just seems to slide off. I will definitely try the becca primer and the last one setting powder 😘
Very interesting tips and tricks! Can you mix 2 or 3 primers at once on the skin? I mean one to minimise the pore, one for oily/dry side and another one to hydrate and make the skin dewy.
thank you for the ideas❤️i've been using some of the mentioned products and i am loving it up to now. can i ask the difference of primer and makeup base? can i use both? thank you❤️
U r greet I see all of the makeup vids but don't know what they do for me. U r so knowledgable, u bet I subscribed. I would like u to talk about older skin, and it's needs.
I have issues when I use primer and then foundation, when I put my foundation on then there some rubbings and some primer comes off like it peels off my skin how do I avoid that?
Hi Esther, we recommend making sure that your primer is similar to your foundation. I.E. using a silicone based primer with a silicone based foundation, etc. Additionally, we may suggest applying less primer. We hope this helps!
Have you tried Revlon Colorstay foundation. I have an oily t-zone and it works for me. I also use Physician formula Finishing Veil powder as my setting powder.
Jeffrey, Awesome vid!!! Loved your recommendations! I've used most of them and all you said is true :)) Haven't tried the setting powder. Thinking about it for to long obviously but will do soon. Thank you :))
Ok so I have the smash box primer, here’s my q , I don’t really wear foundation but when I do on special occasions, I use primer first, but do I let it dry before I apply foundation? Or right away after foundation?
Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray is my all time favorite, and so is Makeup Forever Mist & Fix Setting Spray, that spray smells like clean laundry it's so addicting to use it.
alleghany999 Sunscreen, primer, then mist if you use one. The primer after sunscreen will create a barrier between foundation and sunscreen to control any oiliness or unappealing traits of the sunscreen. Mist is last to just add extra moisture and adherence depending on the mist. Honestly, I feel mist can go either in the very beginning or the end.
For me the Murad Mattifying small amount then a dot of the Becca evermatte over that and my skin is oil free over 8 hours. I do use setting powder after Foundation though
I didn't know Sephora had a RUclips channel, this is the first video I've ever watched, his voice is so calming and his tone so steady, I loved it!!!
NicoleRed check out the finishing vs setting sprays. Very good and love the other guy who also does videos.
Such a comprehensive and in depth video, loved this so so much! Thank you Sephora, for always dishing out the best pro tips!
I love this artist. He weaves artistry education with great tips and recommendations. I got the Laura Mercier powder and after years of looking wierd with powders this one actually got me compliments. Please keep using this Pro ❤
The Becca primer has the exact same ingredients, in the exact same order, as the Kiko mattifying primer. It's the same product in different packaging.
Patricia B /I kiko a Wal-Mart brand?
Nora Ratliff good to know! Kiko is at Rite Aid as well
The koki right?
@@deetru1610 i think she means KIKO cosmetics. It is an Italian makeup brand

So informative! Jeffrey has such a great personality I love his videos!
This is my favourite Sephora video yet. This guy is very informative.
I can't stop watching Jefferey.. MORE PLS
Oh and can you do one on hourglass finishing powders please. Or one explaining the difference between setting powders and finishing powders.
I love the smashbox primer water spray.
Jefferey is adorable!!! Love these tips.
Thanks for a fabulous informative video with Jeffrey. He is absolutely a wonderful teacher!
I'm trying to learn everything about makeup as much as I can and this has been very helpful!
Can you please do a similar video on eyelid priming. I have tried sooo many primers, waiting a few min for them to set, setting with powder, not setting.. And I have dry skin! But my eyelids are super oily and shadow never stays.
I used to use a lid primer but I was having the same issue. Now I just use a cream concealer on my lids and then set it and works beautifully. :-)
I also use a concealer to prime eyes. works just as good if not better then some of the eye primers I own
You should try the smash box 24 hour eyelid primer it's amazing !
I have that but it's pretty pale for my eyelids (as you can see, I'm olive toned lol) so I use it as a base if I'm using bright coloured shadows. It really makes them pop. 😀

That powder demonstration was extremely helpful and intriguing. Thank you!
He didn't seem to run his finger as hard on the primer side as he did with the sun primed side.
I would like to see tips for mature skin. Thanks.
Gina Weinberger me too mature skin
Gina Weinberger me too
Lancomes Renergie 1 Minute Blur is the best primer for mature skin and looks AMAZING in photos
Love all the background on how primers actually work! This is such a great channel
Excellent products u suggested us.thanku so much dear.grateful

Awesome video! Love the Laura Mercier Radiance Primer. It is my favorite!

Which smoothing primer because I have huge pores around my mouth and frown lines. I hate this part of my face the most!!
Oh man! the Laura Mercier and Becca demos both impressed me.thank you!!!!!!😍😍😍

OMGosh this was extremely helpful,
answered my question about how to lock my makeup in place while I sweat during summer.
Thank you Jeffery, looking good.
I'll definitely try the Becca one out. Thanks!

Best description of what primer is.. 🙏🏼 thank you, gorgeous
Really would like to try the becca mattifying primer, heard so many good things about ut!
WOW, what a great setting powder demostration! I am totally convinced...
Are you being sarcastic? If not, don't fall for it. Discussions on primer only !!!
I’ve never had an issue mixing primers and foundations.

What a great artist . Very informative
Very interesting tips and tricks! Can you mix 2 or 3 primers at once on the skin? I mean one to minimise the pore, one for oily/dry side and another one to hydrate and make the skin dewy.
Hi I use pore professional and like it and going to give becca a try. Thanks for recommendations 😀. Can you use both primers simultaneously?

Hi Esther, we recommend making sure that your primer is similar to your foundation. I.E. using a silicone based primer with a silicone based foundation, etc. Additionally, we may suggest applying less primer. We hope this helps!

Is the Laura Mercier translucent setting pressed powder the same as good as the loose powder?
Jeffrey, Awesome vid!!! Loved your recommendations! I've used most of them and all you said is true :)) Haven't tried the setting powder. Thinking about it for to long obviously but will do soon. Thank you :))

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray is my all time favorite, and so is Makeup Forever Mist & Fix Setting Spray, that spray smells like clean laundry it's so addicting to use it.
Great video! It also made me think of Armani Fluid Sheer. Can it be used as a luminous primer? Or mix it with the primer? Thank U
Please add the steps when sunscreen is a must. Primer, sunscreen, mist? Moisturize, mist, sunscreen, mist? Sunscreen, primer, mist?
