  • Sisters Daniela, Paulina and Alejandra Villarreal Vélez put the power in power trio. The band Makes Waves and discusses everything from authentic Mexican food, the last time they cried, growing up in a non-musical family, being vulnerable in the studio, and how to properly bicker with bloodline bandmates.

i'm in my mid 50s and had pretty much quit listening to modern radio and hadn't been to a live show since early 2000s. I discovered these amazing young women last year and was instantly hooked. I saw them live 3 times last year including a 12 hour drive from Atlanta to Dallas and twice this year. best live band experience I've ever had and continue to have. And as you just saw they are some of the nicest and down to earth people you will meet. In a catalog of original music that includes 3 albums and a couple of EPs, they don't have one song i dislike or feel meh about. They don't do filler songs. Never had that experience with any band before. They also work very, very hard for their fan base, and as a fan you feel more like a family member. Loved this interview. You guys did an amazing job, kept the questions interesting, and the hour went by in a hurry. Subscribed as well.

Very similar story, nothing worth listening to lately, in mid 50's and last show I went to in 2001 was Queensryche and found these incredible sisters about 5 years because of YT recommendations due to QR's 1984 album "The Warning". Been hooked ever since and it has been awesome watching these young girls "Evolve" into full fledged rock stars! Haven't been fortunate enough to see them live yet as I live in the middle of nowhere.

It’s more a part of the culture.
      She isn't shy… she's introverted.
If asked questions or talked to directly, she has no problem speaking or expressing herself.
In Mexican culture, too, it isn't appropriate to talk over elders &/or elders speak for the family or group or tribe or people.
It isn't the only reason… but I'm willing to wager on her not talking much is a little bit of everything?
Ask any Mexican & they will tell you that the older people speak first or ONLY speak. Things are shying away from that custom, though.

I could feel the tremendous potential that it contained in its center this small (in appearance) trio of very young female sisters.
Over time and thanks to statements, interviews, you can get to know them very well thanks to how honest and transparent each one of them is.

Fantastic interview as always! At the end when they were asked about the most disgusting meal they've had while on tour, I almost expected Pau to revert back to the hysterical 'Rice Soup' story from when they were touring in S. America!! (Those long-time members of TWA will remember the Argentina Vlogs and this story)🤣😆

It's not everyday that Ale speaks this much in an interview. The fact she did proves that the interviewers did a spectacular job asking good questions and giving off positive vibes, sharing their own knowledge of the music scene whilst allowing the girls to speak as freely as they want.
    Great job overall!

They told you 2 times at the start they were home recording a new album and you did not ask 1 question about it you get a D for this interview they get an A+ you get a D #TheWarning

Writing with other people is a mistake. You lose respect from Rock fans when you don't write your own music and lyrics . Imagine tool using outside writers , they would lose so much credibility . So I hope you ladies go back to writing yourselves

@@oneilprovost2287 how does that relate to what I said at all ? Maynard has 3 bands , and in none of those bands are outsiders apart of the writing process ! Pucifer the band members write all the lyric and music no outsiders ! A perfect circle only the band members write the music and lyrics , Tool only the band members write the music and lyrics ! Not one scenario do the reach out to outside sources to write their music in any of these bands ! So your comment is irrelevant and makes zero sense ! I take it you are not the brightest crayon in the box

At least their open about it and it’s not like a ghostwriter is writing for them during those sessions… they are in the process as well with those newer ppl… they been writing their own stuff for 10 years since kids and the ppl they’re writing with probably isn’t for their own songs most likely… that little thing won’t lose their credibility or fans
