I love Hozier’s music, but my favorite thing about him is his love for literature and poetry. You can also feel it in his lyrics and I think a great chunk of his fans are lovers of literature.
Most people appreciate the sound of music most and I do greatly appreciate it, but I have always been most impacted by lyrics. To me, it is the most important part of a song. The better the lyrics, the more precious that song is in my life.
It’s why Hozier is probably my favorite music artist. Both the sound of his music and the lyrics of his music are phenomenal enough to impact you deeply.

Haha! Possibly he took some form of plant medicine last year away on a vacation he mentioned, (possibly not) but he's also always approached the world in this same thoughtful cerebral curious and poetric way where things are deeply considered, thoughts are experienced through finding your own connections (not merely reading someone else's thoughts), and conclusions are delightfully sampled, tasted and arrived at. As an artist, he's not one to walk around the world half in a coma, eyes shut to all the delights (and horrors) to be seen and understood, when they are infinite in amount.
Meaning and intent is a very important anchor to an artist in general, and he carefully and deliberately crafts his work with things that may provide reflection, or be useful, or are buoyant, or provide a collective understanding of our shared place in the strange zeitgeist we find ourselves in.
I think the fact that he's Irish also means that he's been encouraged to think poetically and actively about things in general, and to find great reverence for, and meaning in the Arts, more especially literature and poetry. That tiny astounding country of just 5 million has a rich legacy of finding meaning and value through the land, music and storytelling. ;)
But yeah, this guy-- he's lovely hey? :)
