How respectful was the slave-owner and anthem writer, Francis Scott Key when he wrote; "Africans in America are a distinct and inferior race of people, which all experience proves to be the greatest evil that afflicts a community"? How respectful is the National Anthem's third verse; "No refuge could save the hireling and slave from the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave"? It is respectful to force African-Americans to place their hands over their hearts, smile, and sing a National Anthem which celebrates their demise? BTW, as soon as these men leave the stadiums, they are jeered, pulled over, and rousted. But that doesn't matter to America, it insists that African-Americans must join in and worship this treatment with the "land of the free" song which was never meant to include them! It doesn't even include those who were brave enough to serve in the military! That's my opinion!

@Soloman S before you even reply, if you do: the electoral college forces politicians to campaign in just a few key battleground states and basically ignores the voters of each state. For example: I live in New York, obviously as we know, New York votes blue. This past general election, the process ignored over 3.5 million Republican voters. Their votes essentially thrown away because of a process where we have a winner take all system. Abolishing the electoral college, winner take all system we have would actually *help* Republicans. For instance in Maine, the race was very close and Hilary won. She won 48% of the vote but Trump won 45% of the vote there. Hundreds of thousands of Republican voters ballots essentially thrown in the trash under our current system. Every other election we hold is up to the popular vote. Senate elections don't rely on an electoral college, why should we rely on it to choose the president?
Whether or not the Electoral College is necessary will become irrelevant if the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact gets enough states to use the College to destroy the College-- and at the moment, if all the pending states get membership, that's exactly what will take place.
