What I like about the SWAT-T . It's so small and compact also can double as a pressure bandage. So in a small kit like this you don't have to carry an additional Israeli type bandage or anything else like that just some packing

Brian Avery ...I agree about the price. It seems to me you could find a much more economical way the carry those items. I also think it’s great that Geared has brought up the idea of carrying first aid on your person...something I don’t think many people have considered, a pretty good idea really. I think I would be more inclined to carry a more complete first aid in my car or a backpack but I do like the idea.
Not even a week after this video was published and I had an incident while out skiing. I lost almost two pints of blood from a veinous bleed in my right pointer finger. I controlled it with pressure mainly while providing self aid, I had a buddy but he was panicking at the volume of blood. However he was a great help in getting my skis off so I could roll out of the way and getting my pocket aid kit out for me. When the medic showed up I told him everything and we had a quick dialogue about if I’d need a tourniquet because even with direct pressure and gauze I was bleeding. In the end we controlled it with more gauze and it was all good. I had to get evacuated down the mountain to the aid station but it was honestly a great time. I was hitting it off with the ski patrol, gave them my SAMPLE info and such. By the end of the encounter I was offered a job on the ski patrol because of my background and how well I was managing my own care and buddy. They said if I return for orientation in the fall I can run with them and do EMT and skiing lessons while basically interning in the aid station. It was a great test of my skills in leadership and first aid. It also was a great test of my EDC kit which I admit failed me in the moment because I made exceptions. I had no TQ because I didn’t think I’d need it skiing and no gauze because I simply failed to keep up with replenishing the kit. The vessel I was using failed in the snow as it got wet from melting snow so the bandaid wrappers wouldn’t open cleanly (my buddy who was stressing out was unable to process that he’d need an alternate way to open it). All in all I plan to upgrade my EDC medical pouch, make sure I keep up with my edc kit better, and that I don’t make exceptions on presumptions for something that’s potentially lifesaving.
Wow! That’s an incredible story. I’m glad you’re doing ok! Sounds like an unfortunate event that turned into a positive outcome for your career! There’s always scenarios we don’t (and sometimes can’t) plan for, but based on your experiences it certainly sounds like you took away some practical lessons learned that you can apply not only to your own gear & training, but can use it as a tool to help others as well. Bravo!!
I’ll shoot you an email with some pictures and such. I actually used the changing of my bandages to teach the scouts how to change dressings and STB stuff. I also showed them how to use a TQ. So a buddy did all the PPE demos (taking off gloves), the TQ, and the dressing conversion. We used a TQ mainly to demonstrate how much it slows bleeding compared to my earlier state and to prevent me from bleeding during the whole demo. I’ve got gauze and bacitracin on it, tomorrow I’ll probably switch it to a bandaid if it’s ready. I’m going in to our school’s athletic trainer tomorrow to get an opinion on if I need stitches or if I should splint the finger so I don’t tear the scab open (I have a lot of gauze on it to limit motion but it’s my dominant side so it wants to do all the jobs I normally need but it can’t rn).

For the concept this kit is designed for (pocket carry) I think this does a good job. I’d probably carry the exact same items as you did in this and maybe I’ll add a CPR pocket mask on a keychain ring in that lanyard hole. I absolutely agree with your findings on the SWAT-T. I like the SOF-T and CAT. I know there’s a CoTCCC approved tourniquet belt, but it costs like $80 or something. If I had that belt I’d opt to carry two of the compact gauze or maybe try to carry a T3 Israeli. The Israeli can in a desperate emergency be a TQ but it does lack the wound packing power of compact gauze. It’s just a thought though, I’d play around with it more if I were handling it. By the way Sean, I was looking to buy a budget pocket knife. I wanted something for under $40 and I came to settle on a CKRT M16-01KZ. It looks like a decent tool but I was curious into your feelings on the knife and if there was a different item you felt would fall in the budget for the price. I wanted a blade somewhere in the 3-4inch range (preferably 3.5), something with a pocket clip, and again at that $40ish price point.
Roman DeBono - hey man. I’m not personally a huge fan of the CRKT M16 and M21 knives but I know a lot of people who like them. If it were me I’d probably recommend a Civivi Baklash. They’re great knives, super high quality and great performance. I’ve got a full review on the Baklash if you look in my “Knives” playlist.
Actually, the price of the contents are about the same if you bought them all yourself anyway. A SWAT-T is $12 and the Celox is about $35-40. Add in a small booboo kit (which will get the most use) and you are breaking even. Waiting for mine in the mail. Also, the black multi cam has a grey pull tab, not red. Thanks for the review.

You bet! They make a first aid kit for $20 that’s pretty badass. It’s called the Advanced First Aid Kit I think. I did a video on it not too long ago.

Thanks for watching Rusty! It’s a super common thing that I used to run into a lot. I have some family who are in thinners and are prone to skin tears and they bleed and bleed man.
I would probably add a marker especially if using the tourniquet as a tourniquet. What about and I don't know if they make it the gauze with the celox impregnated in it?? I have heard multiple people say different things regarding celox or any clotting agent some swear by it and some swear at its use. What is your opinion??
Very compact I like it but have to agree about the price I use a zip up ammo pouch that came free with some 556 ammo. Still a work in progress but may end up going this route. Thanks for sharing
Hey Rodney! Hey man, whatever works! The vessel is definitely secondary to the best contained within. Hell, my main EDC trauma kit is in a LokSak, a glorified Ziploc bag, lol. The fact that you have a kit at all puts you way ahead of the curve!

Very cool product. I have 2 questions/suggestions though. 1: why did you choose that gauze over the regular NAR compressed gauze? I never got to use either luckily, however i have the regular compressed gauze and would love to hear your thoughts on the difference/preference. 2 I think if I had it I would add duct or medical tape wrapped around an old gift card or debit card and probably fold up one Vaseline gauze because I could then use the wrapper and tape to make a chest seal and take up little to no room. Overall very practical setup though I love how you are implementing the SWAT-T to also be a pressure dressing.

40 bucks for just the pouch. High quality or not I feel that's way too expensive for what it is.
I think it’s $35. I understand your point though, I think it should probably be closer to $25, maybe $30, but I was happy to spend $35 to try it out.
Then make your own or find something better. It’s a quality piece of gear that is made in Idaho, not China like most of the crap out there. I’ll gladly pay a bit more to support an American small business.
Another comment... been on the hunt for something that size and water resistance, to carry on belt while working outside. Challenging. If you come across anything, let me know. Cheers.
The Vanquest FATpack in the 4x6 size might be an option. They’re fantastic, I have one of the larger ones. You’d have to add some Mille straps to make it compatible for a belt though. The 5.11 3x6 Med Kit might be a good option as well.
