I remember getting my DSI for my 5th birthday in 2011. The only reason I knew it existed was because my next door neighbor had a DSI XL. I just remember having a ton of fun with that thing, not knowing how popular it truly was until years later. It's amazing to look back and see that the joy of the system and what it could do, never would have happened if Nintendo didn't take a risk
The Switch is a gigantic leap back from the DS/3DS. No Download Play, no 3D, there's no reason why it has a touchscreen since most of the Switches out there live in their docks, no Streetpass, no Mii-MiiVerse-etc, Virtual Console titles that you OWN, no PictoChat, even the 3DS XL is more pocketable than the Switch Lite, and so on.
Good video, just some clarifications: by the time the 6th gen of consoles came around, something was VERY clear to Nintendo, that Sony was dominating on all fronts and no one was to blame but themselves, years of tyrannical treatment and policies towards devs had pushed them all away from nintendo, nintendo being king had gotten to their heads and they got cocky. the PSone was an absolute nuclear bomb towards the market, how could a debut console manage to sell over 100+ million on their first try? the n64 was missing ENTIRE genres of games, even being the RPG king on the SNES to having rpg's in the single digits on the n64 was insane. then, it was clear when rumors came around that Sony was adeveloping a handheld, Nintendo shit bricks because that was the only market that they still dominated and could call the shots. If playstation entered, it'd be over for them. because it was clear at this point with the gamecube: why would anyone but their devices when you had the playstation around too? their first party wasn't enough reason then. the same logic applied with handhelds too.. so when the psp debuted and launched, nintendo knew that they could no longer play around. they cut the GBA's lifespan in half and rushed out the DS to compete, if they released a traditional one screen device with conventional buttons and all, it couldn't hold a candle to playstation's offerings. this led to the DS's whole concept, they were FORCED to innovate because if they didn't, how could they compete? adding another screen was enough to make it different to not directly compete with experiences on the PSP, and with the popularity of PDA's at the time, making one of the screens touch just made sense. this logic applied with the wii too, the gamecube and n64 proved that people won't buy their offering if it's just gonna be the same experience as the one playstation was releasing, so innovating hit again. people/fanboys LOVE acting like Nintendo's always been about the ''weaker hardware with innovation/different experiences'' when no, it was literally something done in modern times that began with the ds/wii. Playstation had forced them to that corner, and Playstation for a long time didn't want to play it nice or friendly because Nintendo was the one to originally backstab them in favor of Phillips lol all the japanese devs knew how dirty Nintendo was back in the day so it wasn't a shock to see them all flock to Playstation, who also offered much better terms, percentages/cuts and stuff when it came to profits, and a huge support system with Playstation.

I was too edgy for a ds and rooted for the psp. And then, one day, I held a DS with the awesome New Super Mario Bros in my hand.

Would you remember the video called (Why Flipnote 3D Failed?) uploaded sometime in summer 2018?
If you do then please tell me what you remember of it…
I got a Pokémon ad before this video
we need 4ds
Good video, talk about the 3ds next time and call it "the sequel that we didn't ask for"
3ds is still great btw
I’d call it more a unexpected sequel because let’s be honest. No one thought it was gonna be a 3-D gaming device.
@@ThatGuyWhoGames yeah
He ranted on some of the best 3ds games and even dared called smash 3ds trash🙄
@@3dsfan2002that's his opinion even tho and I don't agree with it personally, Smash 3ds is Goated imo.
