Nintendo, the very definition of legality without morality. Kind of like modern Disney which has had some seriously dark and disturbing things exposed about them recently.
3ds emulator got down as well because they were made by the same team as Yuzu, Dolphin if i'm not mistake, it was because Dolphin would get a steam release, making it easier to play gamecube and wii games on a steam deck and computers. It's like what happened to Xbox, where you could download emulators on your own xbox one and series without having to jailbreak it, making emulation and piracy super accessible for everyone in the platform. And i know, emulation on pc is already accessible, anyone can download an emulator and a rom on computers, but having the emulator on a store even for free can be quite problematic for the store as well making emulation easier for the public.
Just because they have the legal right to do so, doesn’t mean they HAVE to do it. I wish companies would choose to compete with “piracy” instead of terminate it. As long as something is easily accessible and reasonably price, I’ll always support it
You put so many great points important to the conversation, firstly Nintendo is a corporation and a very litigious one at that, quite over protective of their IP. But on the other hand is the gaming company that I resonate the most and which gives us so much quality content without following the usual gaming trends. But one fact doesn't disqualify the other, and I think in some ways Nintendo is aware of this things, they know their products have passed the test of time and there are millions of people fond of their memories with their games which makes us be more forgiving with their worst attitudes toward us as consumers.
@@dc6521 and I think it's absolutely pathetic of you deleting your previous comment 13 days ago, It's still a troll and you're Still pissy to admit the truth
Quick correction: Citra was not taken down by Nintendo, it's just that since the developers were shared, they didn't want to work on any emulation projects anymore and shut down Citra for their own safety. However, I feel like it's important to know that a lot of the popularity of Yuzu comes from the fact that Nintendo's own hardware is extremely underpowered and also that they still cling onto the idea of exclusives. Nintendo shutting down Yuzu without offering a better solution could still be seen as anti-consumer for this reason because they essentially force you to play their games on their proprietary hardware that is extremely underpowered. Frankly, their anti-consumer behavior has been expanding to their games as well and I'm worried that it'll eventually affect all their games. A bunch of their sports games for instance just launch with a complete lack of content only for them to add it back through "free updates". The absolute state of Pokemon, where every game is either a boring slopfest or is borderline Sonic 06 levels of broken. Many of their games just straight up have performance and resolution issues, with most of their bigger games running at 720p 30fps while still having noticable drops, which was barely acceptable even a decade ago. The very fact that you have to pay for online is pretty bad, but the fact that it's the only way you can play their retro game catalog also sucks quite a bit, even if I do understand that it was because Virtual Console was a financial failure. There's also the fact that Nintendo products never go on sale, you can find games that released the same WEEK as Super Mario Bros. Wonder frequently go on sale for like half off or more, while even the Switch's launch titles like BOTW and even 1-2 SWITCH rarely go below a third off. Nintendo makes some good games, Super Mario Bros. Wonder was my game of the year last year, and we're frankly better off now than we were with the Wii U era (there were barely any good games coming out, we had frequent droughts back then) or even most other generations arguably, but Nintendo is nowhere near as consistently good as people say they are, and part of that is because of their anti-consumer behavior. I just hope it doesn't get worse with Switch 2.
@user-in8qh3zf9d I don't even have an xbox, I just think that since Nintendo is becoming a multimedia company they should make their games more multimedia as well perhaps? Who knows
“Nintendo still clings to the idea of exclusives”. Are you saying that we should just get rid of exclusives then? Then that kinda defeats the idea of having different consoles then if every game was playable on everything. And I don’t think gaming should go in that direction as it would make it so much more boring and stagnant if everything just released on super powerful PC that no one could afford. Not to mention that idea would only really appeal to the super hardcore gaming crowd who are really the only ones who care about things like graphics, resolution and frame rates. Most people just want to play the game in a way that’s most convenient for them. Like me for instance. And that includes piracy. If piracy becomes too inconvenient for me then I’d just rather pay for the simpler and more legal way to play it. And so I’m just sick and tired of pretending to care about these “anti-consumer” practices because I really don’t and I’ll just pay for the games when it’s most convenient for me.
@DeenoSpamone Well it’s clear that Nintendo is still favoring the casuals like they did with the Wii. Because as I said in my reply above, casuals a lot of the time don’t care about framerate/performance, they just wanna play the games. Casuals also make up the majority of the population that buys their consoles. The issue with social media is that it amplifies voices and so it makes vocal minorities seem bigger than they really are. This is part of the reason why I think some people don’t understand why Nintendo isn’t appealing to them specifically. Because from their perspective, why would they stop appealing to the massive casual audience that makes them millions and start appealing to the people that spend all day on social media and are super obsessive over resolutions and framerates and have literally stated that they won’t buy their products unless they start appealing to them?
@DeenoSpamone Nintendo doesn't need a new console immediately considering the fact that the switch is selling very well to the public, Also they're still going to be a bunch of people buying the switch for their young ones regardless. *The Console wars don't exist* and people are allowed to play video games however they like without anyone *harassing or insulting them for enjoying those games*
