I also want to add to your video that people should ABSOLUTELY consider the class/program sizes at the university you go to. Some people can succeed much better as a big fish in a small pond than as a small fish in a big (but highly rated) pond.
Great point!
I can relate to this one
Wow, I’ll definitely quote you on this. 🚀
I am from Brazil and i'm in the first year of mecathonic engineering, i appreciate a loot your videos, they help me stay on focus. Thank you so much for this amazing job!!
Glad you enjoyed!
Hello at matheus
I've always wanted to study robotics, but then I gave entrance xm to a business school out of curiosity, and got in, and it was the best in the country so I kinda thought- why not go in? (Other people also influenced me but at the end of the day it was my decision.) I'm now struggling horribly trying to keep up with the vibe of the uni. This is true kids. Check the uni's vibe before anything else when applying to it
2:45 Haha 12000 poeple applied for 1000 spots at waterloo, In India to get into IIT(The best engineering uni's in India) around 600,000-700,000 students apply for 11,000-12,000 spots across India, so you can kinda understand why there are so many engineering students from India, everyone tries their shot in joining the top universities, and unfortunately the remaining cant....
probably because there is about 40 million people in Canada compared to 1.5 billion in India
I don’t live in Canada but I still found this video very useful, it takes the load of worrying off for a bit 😵💫
Hi Oliver,I am an electrical engineering student at the university of waterloo and I really admire you have moved on. I got rejected by the university of Toronto which is my first choice for undergrad as I wanted to get a master degree there. We should have switched offers😂
😂 no sense in dwelling on the past. But 5 years ago I definitely would’ve taken the swap LOL
all the homies love mcmaster
I’m a homie
The college you go to doesn't matter when it comes to studying and getting a degree, it's just the degree you get for employment matters. Because for every college, depending on what you study, all college professors will probably teach the course in a similar way to other college professors
for me its 90% the people im surrounded by. It's a lot harder to begin startups and foster innovation with a team of people who arent as ambitious or not interested. Trust me, Ive tried finding people at my local public high school and it falls short every time- rarely do i find rare gems who are committed to fully delving into this venture with me.
So yes, going to a good college is useful mainly for the people you surround yourself with. You get more opportunities to connect with others without taking time out of your day to search
@@jaslavie But is it really necessary to find a team of people, like why can't u study and work by yourself?
Hi Oliver , I have got McMaster cs co-op but also in Waterloo maths Hons co-op
Which is better??
True
I am planning to join SFU for my masters in mechatronics. Is there any difference between SFU and McMaster regards the environment and workspace ?
I’ve never been to SFU so I can’t say unfortunately, but one thing I will say is McMaster is just far enough away from downtown Hamilton for it to be inconvenient. But I’ve still had fun and enjoy being at McMaster
Brother how can I get job(for mechatronics engineer) from America or Canada or Australia ? Can you make a special video for this above asked question ?
You should apply for a work visa and then apply to mechatronics jobs
@@OliverFoote ok brother . Then brother after completing this above said what should I do
Hello Oliver, very informative video. My son wishes to do Mechatronics Engineering but very few universities offer this program directly. Usually, ME is a subfield under Mechanical Engineering. Could u please recommend me some reasonable universities that offers Mechatronics. Thank u so much
Just posted a video about this, added links to ABET in the description you can find out some schools there. ruclips.net/video/mYgZBVh0sOs/видео.html
Thk you for making this video,we are from Malaysia.Majorirty of the Canada uni are very new too us. Thinking about mechatronic engineering at Waterloo . Any recommendations for reliable link/website that we can look more into other Canada university for this course?
Here’s a decent website: www.bachelorsportal.com/search/#q=ci-56|di-253|lv-bachelor
Hello~ Could you please make a video on what projects a mct engr. student should try out as a beginner? And TY for all your previous videos.
I’ve been thinking about doing something like that for a while now, we’ll see, I definitely recommend going out and doing whatever interests you, it doesn’t really matter how related, as long as you are building skills
Which city is best for living Toronto or Vancouver
Depends who you ask. My girlfriend thinks Toronto is better. Vancover has a larger tech scene I think, there is also better skiing in BC. The landscape in Vancover is a lot nicer. But Toronto has a lot of people, more jobs, less expensive (although not by much), traffic is better in Toronto.
What do you think of studying mechatronics engineering at Ontario tech university in Oshawa ?
It’s an accredited school, so I’d say go for it 😀. There is a little bit to be said for brand name, but as long as you work hard you’ll do fine.
Heyy there man! Since u wer speaking about working in USA ..... What wud u suggest regarding applying to USA for Masters since I am planning for a permanent settlement?? .... And USA seems to be difficult for that !!
USA is difficult for permanent settlement very competitive. I would see if you could enter on a work visa and keep a job and then apply for permanent residence status, at least that is how it works in Canada, I think it’s similar in the US. Look at their immigration website
@@OliverFoote cool .... Thanks bro ...
Hello sir! Can you plss do a step by step guide on how to gain knowledge about mechatronics using only the internet? Provide us free materials to learn from like youtube playlist, online free courses, websites, etc. chronologically from beginner to intermediate or expert. Thank you in advance😍😍
Hey, if you want to work for a big company and become a professional engineer, as of right now you’d have to apply to an accredited program. But if you just want general knowledge on the field there are lots of places you could go, if you want to learn software stuff and even stuff about computers and hardware, there’s tons of info online. I’ll definitely think about making a step by step guide, but for now I’d recommend looking at what topics you would learn at a university if you took a degree and then try to find the info online
What is the difference between robotic and mechatronic engineer
Robotics is more specific. Mechatronics is somewhat broad and you can work with robots within the mechatronics field.
Wait? So even though you're engineering students in Canada you all still want to be hired in the United States? As an engineer what makes the U.S. a better option than Canada? I'm just curious.
Money. The USD is stronger than the Canadian dollar. Big tech and Wall Street give bigger bonuses and stock options to their employees, meanwhile that’s pretty much non-existent in Canada. Some people go work in the US for like 10 years and then move back here once they’ve made their $$. That being said, I personally don’t want to work in the US because I like Canada too much 😛
@@OliverFoote Oh ok. Thank you.
BRO what courses u have this semester?
Embedded systems 2, operating systems, control systems, electronics (mosfet, jfet, etc.), mechanical engineering design, organizational behaviour
@@OliverFoote Buddy, can u tell what all are included in your Mechanical Engineering Design course ??
Thanks man !
nice video :)
Thanks :)
Bro ... Is it real that Canadian universities go for theoretical approach rather than practical approach to studies ??
Cause I am from India which follows a very theory based mode of study and lacks in pragmatic approach .... And I heard that universities abroad give us hands on experience well !
When you get into upper years you do get a lot more lab courses where you do more application of coursework. But if you want to get a job you’ll have to do a lot more work on your own than just the labs you do in class
@@OliverFoote Got it .... Thanks buddy .... Stay safe ... Have a nyc day :)
