- Long time flight simmer, first time youtuber! This is my DCS sim pit that I use to fly mainly the F18. I also like to fly helicopters (UH-1H, UH-60) and recently been testing out the F-15E.
This setup includes a Force Feed Back base from VP Rhino and uses panels from WinWing for the F18. Drop any questions in the comments below and I'll be happy to respond!

Yeah just because you can't afford it doesn't mean that others can't.
Unfortunately alot of this isn't for sale anymore. Winwing is slowly making 2.0s off all of this but won't be out til late next year.
@@Datttsnake Meh, I wouldn’t be able to afford that anyway. I could definitely get 1 or 2, but being the person I am, I would go broke finishing finishing the rest of the setup.
@fubrikio just get stuff slowly over time. I've been working on my pit for 3 years almost and slowly been buying things used or when I see a deal or even sometimes doing payments for bigger items I need. I'm about 75% done now just have to finish the dash and the side consoles and I'll be complete. I've saved alot of money this way as I've got full sets of joysticks and pereferials for almost half off just finding deals. If you want it you can definitely find it if you're persistent.

Awesome setup man! I've been thinking about getting a MonsterTech setup myself. I've got a bunch of Virpil gear (button boxes, sticks, etc). My problem is I need a much more generalized setup. I play ARMA and Star Citizen, both being games where you can transition from foot to ground/AIR/VTOL. I've got a pair of Constellation L/Rs, a collective, 3 button boxes and pedals. I also have an old HOTAS warthog (with an S-extension). Needless to say, I need to be really careful about how I configure the MonsterTech thing so that I have something that can easily worked with, but also has places for all the various functionality.

My setup is very generic -- ping me if you want some photos. Monstertech, Virpil button box and collective, VKB STECS throttle, Rhino, etc. But I don't do the space thing (I was an early investor in Star Citizen but gave up on it years ago...) so I'm not sure what I have would be adequate, esp. compared to the Noobifier's setup. Well, one of his setups. That guy is insane, in a good way!
Wow amazing setup. That Rhino base looks amazing. I remember owning a force feedback joystick when I was a kid. As much as I think the MIP is awesome, it's just too F18-centric when that's not your primary module.
The Rhino is imo 'god tier' level upgrade for flight sim control feel & immersion, it's powerful, precise & extremely configurable plus the software from vpforce is amazing. I don't personally own the WW WIP but something to keep in mind it that the dividers between the buttons on the mfd's are also buttons themselves so this would make them useable with more modules/aircraft.

Personally I'm using a combination of Virpil and Winwing gear, along with a DIY button box (similar to the Winwing ones, but with added dials and toggle switches).
Currently have everything mounted on a folding simpit, but eyeing an aluminum frame, most likely going with Monstertech despite it being somewhat more expensive (especially since it seems to offer quite a bit of quick release systems that should be quite useful for changing to simracing.)
The stick looks sick, too, though I guess that's more into the future. I assume that that stick, combined with transducers feels crazy amazing as far as immersion goes!
Hey appreciate it! Sounds like you got some sweet hardware also! If you do go with MonsterTech I think you'll enjoy, so easy to customize and mount panels as needed. Its built like a rock, super sturdy.
The VP Rhino is unreal, having the jet fight you when you are out of trim or feeling the wind moving the aircraft make for an immersive experience

Got a nice tip for you:
In 2.9 we can now calibrate the left virtual hand through 3 axis. This allows you to align the digital hands and ufc to the ufc to your real pit. Then the digital hand helps to find all the real buttons easily because both are aligned. If that makes sense.
Only works for the left hand at the moment. I use the top switches of the ufc to turn the digital hands on and off. I recommend you try it.

It would be nice to see a video where you outline how you connected the EX stick to the base. I’m sure there is an adapter involved but I assumed that it would not recognize all the hats, etc from the stick but it sounds like it does. Was that just out of the box or did you have to do some type of modifications to get all the hats and buttons to register? Thank you.
Great idea, and smart question! The creator of the VP Rhino created an adapter for various brands of sticks like WinWing, VKB, Virpil. The config software for the FFB base recognizes the grip and supports all buttons/switches/hats!
@@papiplanes I had no idea that he made an adaptor for the WinWing as well. That is fantastic news. I guess that is going to be the one I go for in the future - after a looong waitlist-wait. Thank you for the info. Loving the channel so far.
Hey @papiplanes... I see the MonsterTech rig, but are you still using the twist/screw to clamp mechanism on the MFD/MIP components and essentially table clamping to your different pieces of Aluminum profile... OR... are you mounting those devices some other way using t-nuts, etc.?
I have a sim racing rig that I'm slowly/quickly converting for my use in DCS and I've been adding devices but don't have a complete plan for mounting.

I am using the MonsterTech MTS YOKE which provided a mounting point for the included twist clamps from WinWing.
MonsterTech also has their WIWING MIP Rail Mount which attaches to t slot extrude
Great stuff. How has your experince been with the F-15e and your setup? I mainly fly the Harrier, Hornet and the Strike Eagle so I'm trying to find a setup that will work well for all three. I think you have a video showing software that enables you to use the F-18 UFC with a lot of the modules (including the F-15e). Thanks
I mainly fly Hornet, but have been exploring the F-15E and it works great with the MFDs + F15EX throttle. I am hoping WinWing creates an F15E UFC (its been rumored but nothing confirmed yet). In the mean time while flying the F15E and using the UFC, its mainly mouse since the F18 UFC does not line up that well with the needed binds.
@@papiplanes Thabks for the reply. Yeah I wasn’t sure how well Universal UFC worked with other modules. Seems like Hornet and Harrier are so close those work well but I see it being hard for other aircraft.

Hey buddy, I see you have the Monstertech chair. Were you able to mount the Rhino FFB to the center of the chair? Is it too heavy or too high? I use a Virpil stick extension today, but I fear it will be too high up with the added hight of the Rhino.
Last thing 😅 you can actually adjust the dampeners in the Virpil CM3 base so the stick doesn't recenter for rotors/space Sims
That is awesome, I used the WinWing Orion 2 base which has a similar feature and it worked very well for choppers/jets and switching between the two
@@papiplanes Would that be a feature in Orion2 that requires the FF kit, or any other extras?
@@algroyp3r you’ll want to order the damper kit for the Orion 2 base to get a center less stick, makes flying helicopters way easier

I think I've figured it out. Take out spring and cam, put in damper.

I am using the default included mounting brackets attached to a piece of 80x20 aluminum

does the vp rhino work well on msfs too? i like to hop in there for some casual flying with friends sometimes
It does, however there is no native support built into MSFS2020, thus you need TelemFFB made by VP RHhio. It’s a program that reads telemetry data and sends feedback effects to the rhino. Works pretty well on MSFS

I've got an MTS and a Rhino being delivered soon. How did you mount the base?
Using an MTS Center Joystick Mount with the Mounting plate add on sent by VP Rhino. The plate connects to the MomsterTech Center Joystick mount add-on. I have the MonsterTech MTS metal floor plates which help keep the rhino secure instead of floating on a long arm which might make it feel wobbly
@@papiplanes ok cool. I also have the center stick mount. I don't have the floor plate for the mts though, do you think it's important enough to pay monstertech shipping on?
@@ry-ballz you can try it without the floor plates first, I found my rhino would bounce around and wobble as the motors would operate inside.
Something about for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction 😂

Me too, it’s on the list to get the Crystal or 12K when the budget allows! I got on the wishlist for Rhino August 2022, got my unit April 2023
Oh yeah, did you look into the realsimulator bases and sticks? They are probably mainly targeted F16 pilots, with force sensing, but I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on those bases next to the Rhino.
I have seen them, and they look really high quality. It serves a different purpose then the Rhino, force sensing vs force feedback. If I get one a i definitely compare the both!

Yeah, or the same cost as the Next Level Racing sim pit base and seat. Its steel vs. aluminum, so I guess you get what you pay for.
At the time, get my rhino will be with luck some day close to year 2025, that crazy waiting time make lose the interest so bad, i hope virpil or vkb come with an alternative for a ffb base

I would add this in to my previous post, but when I put in links (even plaintexted) youtube tends to eat them. This is a video of a guy doing it with a Quest 3 (with its mega passthrough cameras) but it will work with any headset that has passthrough.

I personally prefer to interact with the ingame cockpits via motion control as it is more immersive, but it is far less effective than this approach.
