Wonder dynamics makes this workflow really easy, but I actually did some testing with Rokoko video with something similar! Recording a piece of footage, uploading that, uploading a model, match animated model to where the character is in blender, mask out only the robot arm in After Effects.
Though, your way looks a lot faster!

Tool Farm just came out with an After Effects plug-in that does the same thing. So far, it's not that great, but I've only had time to try it in passing.
