  • On 21 August, we had the pleasure of welcoming delegates from and the organising committee of the Australia India Youth Dialogue (AIYD) to our Western Sydney Service Centre (WSSC) for their 2024 event. We have been a proud supporter of this initiative since 2018, which brings together 15 of the best and brightest minds from both countries for an annual conference on how the Australia-India relationship may be strengthened.
Watch a video of the event below, which shows attendees enjoying a Q&A session and a behind-the-scenes tour of our plant. In order of appearance, you’ll hear from Gretta Theobald Stephens (Chief Executive Climate Change and Sustainability) and Tim Dwyer (AIYD Steering Committee), along with attendees Puja Ganguli, Jacob (蔡尚祈) Choi and Zainab Kakal. More specifically, Gretta addressed the group with a discussion about the future of talent, updates on our decarbonisation pathway and insights into our joint venture, Tata BlueScope Steel.
We thank everyone at WSSC for making this visit so memorable, including special mentions for the following people at BlueScope (in alphabetical order): Andreas Obermaier (Reliability Engineer); Aola Ghoneim (Electrical Automation Engineer); Arvind Chavan (Technical and Development Engineer); David Jenkins (Manager Government Relations); Heath Williams (Asset Team Manager); Joyce Abi Nader (Mechanical Engineer); Matthew Burke (Manufacturing Manager); Michael Papworth (Team Manager); Mohammed Achaechi (Manufacturing Operations Leader), Natalie Al-Aaraj (Business and Operations Support) and Peter Brouwer (Principal Technologist).
Stay tuned for more updates on our initiatives and collaborations. Together, we're not just shaping the future of steel but also fostering global partnerships that pave the way for a sustainable future.
