    Playing the Theremin looks as though it's like playing music in its pure form, as if one could magically produce music just by moving one's hand's in the hair, not touching the materiality of any instrument whatsoever. Notes, tones, melodies, harmonies rely upon very specific gestures and configurations of the hands in the air... The Theremin, or the metaphysical instrument.

    I've been listening to it for five years, periodically coming back for another taste. Melancholy and hope, walking side by side, hand in hand. Brings tears to my eyes every single time. Thank you ...

    I love Messiaen and this is the most compelling rendition of this I have ever heard. Thank God we still have serious explorers.

    What i love about this is the solemnity of the background specially the taping of guitar and the invincible string of therimin.

    It is so interesting and inspiring to hear this movement performed by an instrument so similar to the ondes martinot, the instrument it was originally composed for! And the bass is such a creative and beautiful touch!! Bravo! ❤

    A great piece of theremin music and also a nice and not so common way to play a really smooth bass.

    Anyone who can play the theremin as Carolina does is a genius.Its ok playing an instument, stringed or otherwise,but to play an instrument that is virtually invisible is extraordinary.

    Clicked for Carolin on the theremin, stayed for Messiaen. Didn't realize from the title that this was the best movement from Quatuor pour la fin du temps.

    Extremely beautiful, expressive theremin playing. I never thought I would hear a theremin sounding as dynamic and expressive as an Ondes Martenot.
    And the arrangement is awesome! The back playing harmonics only leaves much of the spectral space to the beautiful theremin.
    The whole production is quite good, thanks for sharing and congrats for the talent and good work!

    Wow - für mich als Cellisten eine hochinteressante Version dieses einzigartigen Satzes. Keine Sorgen um „unhörbare“ Bogenwechsel😉 Aber gerade deshalb ein bißchen schade, dass ein so flüssiges Tempo gewählt wurde: Messiaen schreibt ein extrem langsames Tempo vor, das man gerade mit dem Theremin wunderbar hätte realisieren können, um die Zeitlosigkeit dieser Musik noch eindrucksvoller zum Ausdruck zu bringen. Dennoch: Wie alle Videos von Ihnen, verehrte Frau Eyck, ein großartiger Hörgenuss - Bravo (auch für die tolle Idee mit dem E-Bass)👏👏👏💛

    Wonderful performance!!! It would be great if the bass is louder as his part has the color and some motives that Messiaen intended to put into. It is not too soft comparing to the melody on the theremin. Keep on the great work! It's terrific!!!!

    • @PeteJohnson1471
      @PeteJohnson1471 6 лет назад

      The Theremini is pretty good for learning on. As you can use it with or without pitch correction, or Scale mode sorta thing. So that you will only play notes in a particular scale and key.
      It's sorta useful, but I recently found a company in the UK that sell a lovely Theremin at lostvolts.com . It sounds nice, and the price is nice too. I hope this helps 4 months later ;-)
