    As a Florida fan, we've seen this when he played here...he would have slumps and eventually bounce out of them. Unfortunately, the Flames jumped the gun on signing Weegs and Huby to make a statement that they weren't getting these guys for rental/trade purposes. When the Panther's offense shoots as much as they did back in 20-21, it will easily inflate the number of points players get which may not be a direct correlation to actual performance. It breaks my heart to see him down, cause as you stated he has a really awesome personality off the ice.

      He just doesn't fit the Calgary dump the puck in system. Florida is a fast paced north south hockey team. It was better for his game. Calgary needs a coach that knows how to hone in to his talents and his strengths.

    • @zoots15
      @zoots15 9 месяцев назад +3

      Flames mgmt was stuck as Huby and Weegs were on expiring contracts and would become UFA's. If they didn't sign them they could walk and Flames would get nothing, like what happened with Gaudreau. Flames ownership wants nothing to do with a rebuild, so the big contract was offered

    My biggest issue with Huberdeau so far isn't even the lack of offensive productions. Offensively I keep seeing glimpses of whats there, just a lot of passes just off the mark and shots going wide, I get the feeling that'll turn around but thats probably just hope on my part. However, defensively I find him very frustrating, if you arent producing offensively the least you can do is be reliable defensively and he just isn't. Theres times hes out of position defensively, losing puck battles and making weak plays. Every time hes in the defensive zone is when I worry the most and feel like the opponent is going to score, I dont get that feeling with other lines. Honestly if he wasnt benched for the 3rd I feel like the flames wouldve allowed at least 1 goal this period. I'm significantly more frustrated with his defensive game than offensive

  • @JD-fs3qv
    @JD-fs3qv 9 месяцев назад +5

    Huberdeau is suffering from the early Gaudreau syndrome. Forcing passing plays, cheating to the o-zone blue line, losing puck battles along the boards. What Huberdeau needs is the reality check from the Gaudreau experience and hope Huberdeau’s game evolves from the “lack” of form from the Panthers to utilizing his traits to be the $10.5 million dollar guy.

He was a great player in regular season games but as soon as the Panthers went to the playoffs, he didn't do anything, he looked terrible. I legit feel bad for the guy but, he's making ten million dollars a year. He should be leading the team in points and proving himself worthy of a ten million dollar contract. If he's not going to play like a ten million dollar a year player should be playing, then I completely agree with the coaching decision to bench him and make a point to the team that we don't care who you are, if you're going to play like crap you're going to ride the bench. Maybe this coaching decision will help him get out of his own head and start playing better. We shall see.

    FINALLY a post about Philly in a hockey post. Wrong team. There's plenty to gab about the Flyers. I mean our coach is the trump of hockey and TK and Atkinson are full steam ahead. Please someone give Atkinson a shout out considering he missed a season to neck surgery and has come back on fire. Please and thank you. Before someone says that the Flyers suck and there's not much to say...there's plenty. The points may not show it but they're a feisty bunch and won't quit until the very end. They're fun to watch for the 1st time since the covid playoffs. If they didn't lose 4 key players [stall (d), risto(d), hart(g), coots(c)], I think the standings would look a lot different. We need to fix the goalie situation. We don't have a worthy backup. Peterson is a joke. Sandstrom joke. Errson??? I believe that he's another Bob situation. We'll give up on him, send him packing, and regret it when he gets the vezina on his new team. Anyway back to the main topic, they need to calm tf down. He's a beast. He'll roar again. Hockey is a team sport and you can't put everything on one player. It's not fair

    He needs to learn to be more patient on the puck and move his feet. It doesn't help he doesn't have as much talent around him either. Lindholm isn't doing anything either.. I think the Flames need to make these trades with the UFA's sooner rather then later despite the past couple of wins. All of the pressure is on Huberdeau because of his contract but it isn't just on him. Flames play a much slower game then they do in Florida which can be a hard adjustment to make. Huberdeau is not the type of player who has the skill set to dominate a game like some 10 million dollar players do. His greatest skill is passing the puck (and even that doesn’t show since being acquired by the Flames). He needs to be on a team that has one or two players more talented than him and have those players take the attention of the defence , thereby giving him the time and space he needs to make plays. Because he’s largely a one dimensional star , he’s a 7.5 mil player , tops. He’ll never dominate a game like most 10.5 million dollar players can. Calgary doesn’t have the one or two other star players Huberdeau needs to be successful. Sadly , I predict he’ll always struggle with the Flames.

    He was in a great situation in Florida but chose to go elsewhere because of the $$.
    And Kadri was in a great situation in Colorado and he was a big part that team winning the Stanley cup too and still chose to go elsewhere for the $$.
    I'm sure whatever Florida or Colorado offered them was still a good enough deal but they still chose to go elsewhere.

    make up your mind, are you going to criticise him like the rest of the media, or are you going to be supportive and positive. From how I see it - one video is "this is unacceptable from hub." next one is "the media needs to take it easy!"

    He is weak player without a star line-mate. He had Barkov in FLA who is a seriously under-rated star…. He needs support but Calgary doesn’t have a Barkov

      Actually he didn't play with Barkov alot in Florida he was on a line with Duclair

    No what's hard to watch is the losing on the ice. They need to b nch whomever isn't performing well. Get rid of some of these guys. To many old players with long term contracts Treliving destroyed the team. They thought he did a good job. Now the leafs are going to get ruined too.

    The oilers need woodcroft to bench a few lazy asses for a few periods...maybe it might spark a few of those ole hockey brain cells to wake up in the team...or atleast not get caught making sure their skates are tied up the whole game

    Huberdeau made $42,683 to watch the 3rd. I bet he'll make a million bucks a goal this year. Disgusting.

    'public scrutiny' is why huberdeau and all haters hate playing in Canada. Tkachuk and JG couldnt wait to leave, draisaitl and mcdavid are next. Not only do players get taxed an extra 2 million while playing in Alberta, they have to deal with all the media. Who wants that ??!

    I actually think he needs to be sent to the AHL to get his game back. There's no wiggle room when you're the top paid player. Put up or ship out.
