Great interview Kyle! So much respect for The Captain! As a native Hoosier, I couldn't be happier that Mr. Penske has taken the reins as caregiver to IMS & the IndyCar series. He's already making great improvements, with many more to come. I'm particularly anxious for the lights to be installed allowing them to host a 24 hour race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It will be legendary!
When I was 8 we went to visit my uncle in mooresville. We went to Penske racing, actually got to go in the shop, sit in rustys Harley Davidson Miller lite Taurus. On the way out, mr Penske walked out of his office(I didn’t know it was him at the time) and shook mine, my brothers, & my dads hand. Then thanked us for stopping by.
Kyle, great interview with Mr. Penske! Time just flew by because the interview was so interesting and loved the story of how he got started in racing and his perspective on the future of Motorsports. Great Job!!
Kyle, you knocked this one out of the park. The few questions you asked gave us so much insight into the Life, the mind, the soul and the character of The Captain, Roger Penske. Thank you.
I had the opportunity to meet Roger in the early 90's. I was working for a supplier of for his CART team. He was gracious enough to sign one of my CAD drawings. It's framed and in my house.
Kyle petty is a master interviewer... Roger Penske is the supreme business /racing intellect mind and to be abler to formulate a series of questions of the enquiry type that do justice to Roger's history status standing... is quite a feat...Roger is Racing 'Royalty' and Kyle treated him as such ... the flow and structure content of Kyle's questions was brilliantly orchestrated.. I have never seen an interview conducted with the degree of genuine respect for a person's contribution to Motor racing as this interview did.. Bravo Kyle.. PS. Roger Penske I think is ' Mr Motor Racing'.. and that is 'World Wide'.. no one has collectively achieved more in motor racing than Roger... no question in my mind that had Roger set his sights on an F1 team assault that he would have dominated that sphere of racing as well..
I'm glad Kyle touched on ownership. I raised that same question a couple years ago when I saw the ages of the Cup owners, You have Gibbs, Penske, Petty ,Roush, Hendricks , Childress, Woods . All in their 70s and 80s , Ganassi is closing in on 70. Those owners control 24 of the possible 40 cars that can qualify. It certainly makes you wonder and hope if they all have a succession plan when the team owner is no longer there.
I got to see him at the Daytona 24 in the pits One of His cars had been crashed and he was overseeing the repairs Still had time to acknowledge the fans who were watching that recovery.
What always impresses me about Roger Penske. It's how humble he is. With all of his accomplishments in Motorsports whether it be Indy Car, Sports Car, or NASCAR. He always downplays it and talks about everyone else. Roger Penske is not a legend, he is not a Icon, he is a Titan of not only business, but more importantly Racing. You look at the names who have driven for him mainly in Indy Car or Nascar, it's a who's who of racing legends. He has won numerous championships in both Indy Car and NASCAR, but he also has won multiple Indy 500's and Daytona 500's. He has truly done it all and remained humble in the process. Roger Penske is a guy that has my total respect. Love him!!!!!!!
Mr Penske and I use his formal name in Respect, is my all time Hero in Motorsports. Trust me, go Google this man’s life and it will blow your mind. Nuff said.
Fantastic man. Had the pleasure of working for him at Detroit Diesel. Also sat in board meetings with him at a DD distributor in Canada. Unbelievable leader. Could listen to him talk all day.
I went to my first National sports car race in 1959 when I was a car crazy 13-year old. One of the top competitors that day was a young Roger Penske at the wheel of an RSK Porsche. He was no slouch behind the wheel. Long forgotten is the NASCAR race he won driving at Riverside.
Let me tell you Roger Penske is the most respected Yankee ever to have come South and I would say he's top three most respected men in Motorsports history. 🦅🇺🇸🦅
Roger Penske is a without a doubt the greatest team owner ever in motorsports history. RP might be an old man now, but i hope that we are going to see for many, many more years.
Roger Penske, Wow , how many forms of racing wouldn't be the same but for him spreading savvy around. The list of drivers that didn't race for Roger is shorter than all the champions and talented drivers that drove for Penske racing. Top drawer always.
One of the most respected men in motorsports. I don't care much for Lagano and Keslowski but I like Blaney. But I do realize that Penske is a helluva lot smarter than me and hired them for their talent.
He's an absolute legend and it's a pleasure to hear him teach, because that's what he's basically doing. But, as a fan, I couldn't disagree more with his point regarding the number of races and the race length. 1)I wait all week to get to the weekend so I can watch some cars go real fast. 2) One of the things I love the most about nascar is that the races are basically an adventure, super long and the drivers have to make it all the way to the finish. It ain't no sprint, it's a marathon! The longer the races, the happier I am to sit down and enjoy them. Don't reduce the number of races, and don't reduce the length of the races, if it's the fan base that you are trying to satisfy. If you (nascar) are trying to satisfy the owners who need to save money, or the lazy drivers who don't want to race every weekend, then that's a different story. But if it's the fans they're running after, they shouldn't touch the amount and length (even though they have already started doing it, see Pocono) of the races.
Nice take off on Coffee with Comedians in Cars... This could be titled "Coffee with Kyle and Racing Legends". Very good interview with the Captain, Roger knows how to do it right. We are all better off as fans and race teams now that he owns the Indy Speedway and sanctioning body.
Dammit nobody ever gives Dave Marcis any credit. Marcis was the first semi regular Penske driver in ‘72 & ‘73, ran 28 races, 13 top 10s and 6 top5s and not even a mention. Not cool Kyle. No cool Roger.
I can't remember which recession changed it, but I do remember when Bristol tickets were bequeathed to descendants in a will. Indy was able to hold that distinction. Cool.
Fantastic interview with one of the true giants of the motorsports industry! And I absolutely LOVE Mr. Penske's ideas for the Xfiniti series, especially making it a true developmental series without certain Cup drivers...especially who have won Cup championships...coming down and stinking up the show.
Kyle Petty that was one of the best interviews that I've ever watched thank you
Roger penske class act always thinking about the future of the sport
22 minutes with Roger Penske. Hard to imagine the dollar value of that time.
To start, It is in the Millions.
Priceless

Very insightful interview indeed...

Roger Penske has outperformed his rank as the Captain. He is an Admiral now. (big salute!)
"Outperformed", no doubt, is a Valid Point!
Commander in chief.
My friend Lee Gordon, Cecil's brother, changed tires for Bobby in the Matador. Roger was always a class act.. Great interview. Kyle, give Lee a call.
Kyle, you knocked this one out of the park. The few questions you asked gave us so much insight into the Life, the mind, the soul and the character of The Captain, Roger Penske. Thank you.
Thank you for mentioning Reading and Giants Despair Hillclimbs sir. It is an honor to race at the same hills legends like you have in the past.

Wow what an awesome interview Kyle P. Just so much great history and success. And still going so strong all this time.
"Happy Birthday", to the "Captain", tomorrow, 2/20!!
This legend is my hero.

I used to watch Mr Penske at Talladega in the Spotters box above us in the stands. He never missed a lap.
Giants Despair Hillclimb sweet since 1906 and still climbing. Thank you sir
Roger Penske is a true Racer , he and Richard Petty are the Kings !!!
Met him at Indy, he’s a nice guy and took a picture with my daughter. Great interview.
Wow! Another one knocked out of the park! I could have listened for another hour. Great job Kyle.
Roger is a legend
I go back when I was a kid in the 70's roller coaster, skee ball, and a Nascar race... Nashville speedway. What could be better than that
Roger is a FANTASTIC human being. Just a great guy!

83 years old and sharper and more articulate than 99% of 23 year olds.

When people talk of role models, you just watched an interview with mine! Long time follower of his teams and businesses.
I met Roger, and Rusty, when my uncle was an executive at Mazak Industries. Mazak was one of the Penske sponsors.

Truly enjoyed this💙🏎️🏁
Happy birthday to the Captain.
What a wonderful chat! Well done and thanks.
I saw him early 70s as team manager Porsche Can-Am cars. Riverside Raceway.
What a great interview. 👍🏁
Great job Kyle

Awesome man! Great family too.
so much business game in this interview , and you can tell he is about his time and money . I love his mannerism .
You are awesome Mr. Penske!
Mr Penske is incredibly smart the France family needs to listen to what he has to say.
Wow what a great American as well a first class gentleman as well as Kyle very good interview!
Kyle, you're really a great interviewer! Love your stuff!
Awesome interview. Everytime you get 25 min with the captain, you listen long and hard.
I’m certain motorsports fans will agree, you’ve got yourself a hit show, KP! Another great one!
Fantastic stuff! Mr. Motorsport himself, IMS could'nt be in better hands.
Great interview as always Kyle! Good job!!
Still the Captain! Great interview.
Good show Kyle
Roger is such a badass
Great interview Kyle............you wonder how great a driver he could have become
outstanding!!!!!!
Great interview, Kyle does a great job. Mr Penske is such a class act. I wish he would buy Nascar and make it as good as it used to be.
Bring back IndyCar at Pocono.
It will probably happen. This year is pretty 'off' because of circumstances with Indycar in relation to the NASCAR dates and the Olympics.
🗣️ Roger " The Captain" Penske 🗣️
Thank You Kyle 😊

Like the interview with my uncle
Mr Penske needs to also buy nascar
Yes indeed! The France family has all but ruined NASCAR.
@@TreeLBollingTreeMan Let's get one thing straight: BRIAN France has ruined NASCAR, Jim is trying frantically to dig it out of the grave.

Great intelligent interview. TV interviews can be so shallow.
Fantastic interview
Great interview.
GREAT interview :) !
Good video Kyle. Keep up with lot more videos.
Great interview again
Great interview!!!
In the world, sports car road course is king. Wouldn't hurt my feelings if ovals were done away with. All tracks could be converted. 55 year fan
I can't remember which recession changed it, but I do remember when Bristol tickets were bequeathed to descendants in a will. Indy was able to hold that distinction. Cool.
If anyone could ever be appointed a racing czar to make everything fit and grow the sport, the Captain would wear the crown.
Great things are ahead! We have a true excellent business guy running Indy Whoo hoo!!

RP for president! Whos with me!
Excellent!
Great interview 👍
Awesome interview Kyle, I wonder what's up the Captain's sleeve next?
Roger talks about increasing the events opportunities for the Indianapolis track, why not a 24 hrs race that using the infield track?
He's a great American!
Great interview
Roger, please bring the Indy cars back to the Milwaukee Mile !
