I used to work for Penske (one of the many businesses multiple layers of management from Roger himself) for a year. Getting fired was the best thing that happened to me.

I’m a huge fan. My college roommate was his neighbor. I have a lot of respect for Mr. Penske and his race teams. He reminds me of my grandpa.

This man represents old school, tried, true, effective leadership. You must know your field inside and out, bottom-up, top to bottom. You must know how to do before you can lead.

Mr. Penske's strategic focus and commanding presence must be reassuring to his customers and employees alike. Organizations need strong leadership or they risk becoming dysfunctional.

In my mind as a retired business owner, I did here the employees are his biggest asset. He runs a flat line company not tiered. He promotes from internal staff. He schools and trains. He works on a team basis. Now if that’s not caring about employees, I missed one of his key points. He clearly stated if the Company isn’t successful, He wasn’t successfully. I would encourage you to watch it once again in a mind set of WE not ME.

If an organization does business with CUSTOMERS does not make those customers happy, those customers LEAVE.
Then, the employees’ feelings don’t matter, because they won’t have their jobs very long.
And if you are the sort of employee who is always whining about your own needs rather than making your company as successful as possible, you’re part of the problem..,

Roger Penske coulda', shoulda' been President of the USA. As a leader, regardless of party, he's as close to being an Eisenhower as anyone today. And Eisenhower, neither Dem or Rep, was the 2nd best President after Geo Washington that this nation has ever had.

This interview has about two dozen comments. None of the actual Penske branded videos allow comments. I wonder why not. What do they have to hide??

The first time I saw Roger Penske in person was October 14, 1973 at Laguna Seca, when he was actively helping his team mechanics change the broken motor in Mark Donohue's Sunoco Porsche 917-30. What was normally a six to eight hour job in the shop was done in less than half that time. With minutes to spare, they rolled the car to the starting grid. Mark went on to win the main event and clinch the Can-Am championship that day.

The Honda customer is an entirely different demographic than a premium customer. The are based in price point, not feature or luxury benefit.
