Which old-school beat em up would you like to see on the Switch? Most of the ones I'd love to come across are licenced so probably have no chance but Turtles in Time, The Simpsons, Batman Returns (SNES) or Aliens vs. Predator would be great! First off I love your channel. I been watching it since I got my switch and made time for playing it. You probably help me spend a few hundred. I would love all the licensed games and wish I had bought them when I had a chance before
Fun fact: DemonDice did the ending theme for this game "Mean Streets" with Megan McDuffee (the latter of which did music for the 1st River City Girls). Highly recommend listening to both of their music. Great review as always! Since I'm a big fan I already bought it.
I just assumed this was going to be a new game from Way Forward and in the same style as River City Girls, had no idea it was a port of an old SNES game until watching this review! I don’t think this one is for me a at all, but I’ve just watched the review for RCG and I’ll definitely be getting that one.
Modern Vintage Gamer recently did a video on this (he was the lead developer). The game is emulated rather than being recreated, hence the lack of refinements and new features in the core gameplay.
Great review, as always guys. I'd love to see a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV remake for the Switch - I have some fond memories of that game as a kid and would love to experience it again with my own kids
I think this game would have been so much better and probably would have bought it if they redid the whole game with modern graphics like mario rpg. They even could have still made it look and feel old but with a fresh new coat of paint kinda like streets of rage 4, TMNT shredder's revenge or sea of stars even. There's a way you can make something look more modern but still have an old school/retro feel didn't know this was just a port with "cut scenes".
At this point, I'm starting to move away from the oldschool 8-bit games. I would have been interested in this one maybe a few years ago, but there's just way too much out there now that visually appeals to me more
Mentioning Road Rash in video, Do you know if Road Redemption on the switch is any good? It's on my wishlist since day 1 I got my switch being a big Road Rash fan. Regarding the above game, I love side scrolling Beat em ups. I got Streets of Rage 4 to scratch that itch. Cheers Glen
Even though I loved these type of games back in the 90s, I personally feel they have aged rather poorly gameplay wise. So I will skip this one, but cheers for the great review!
This is a old school beatem up so it won't have a lot of newer gameplay, so this game really isn't going to be for everyone. But as for me who has grew up with them and have a special place in my heart but I don't know I would perfered if it was a 10$ instead of 15$.
Yeah, I'm very much from the era of old school beat 'em ups too but I feel that from a business perspective of reaching the largest possible audience, just adding a few refinements to gameplay to go along with the presentation-based ones would have been in their interests. Even if there was an original mode and a 'new' mode to choose from. Glen
I completely agree with you, delaying the game for a few months to add in more modern bells and whistles that people are use to would help bigger audience. I don't think that is what they wanted. It feels like they wanted to rerelease a game that is authentic to it's core as it was 30+ years ago . It was also to hold the fans over Intel river city girls 2 that is in development.
You know what. I will support it because they bother, bother to translate properly from Japanese to English. God forbid the translators do their jobs and don't add their politics into the game dialog.
Yeah I'd been holding out for a standard physical release as being over here in the U.K. it's not as easy to get hold of Limited Run releases. I'll definitely get it at some point though. Glen
@@SwitchUpYt It really is a masterpiece. The most technically polished beat’em’up I’ve seen and its many branching paths and deep combo system make it very replayable. This review sums it up nicely - and that channel is mostly about (arcade) shooters: ruclips.net/video/C3UdqAJleFI/видео.html
Is this on PS4? (i don't like going digital on Switch because i don't like Nintendo's account system because it's a pain to tranfer accounts to a new Nintendo Switch if i ever got one, an OLED or a new model down the line)
I’m still thoroughly enjoying Streets of Rage 4 + DLC (which raised the bar for the genre) and with the announcement of the Capcom Fighters Collection yesterday I don’t think I’ll be getting this as there are others higher up on my wish list.
No idea whether you've already played it of course, but Fight 'N' Rage is a great brawler as well. I think it's just about the only beat 'em up that somewhat manages to measure up to SoR4.
I love the Kunio-kun series and will definitely be picking this up, especially as the graphics remind me of the super famicom games. I do wish they would have added rpg elements and am disappointed that they are missing.
Haha, when you are English, the words pawn and p*rn are pronounced in practically the same way. Makes it difficult whenever a game makes a reference to pawns. Glen

Probably won't either but the Punisher or X-Men arcade beat em ups would be awesome
Two reviews in one day? You spoil us!
Man, the Simpsons was tight! I remember wasting all of my coins on that game at the arcade when I was a kid. I never managed to beat Krusty's balloon.
First off I love your channel. I been watching it since I got my switch and made time for playing it. You probably help me spend a few hundred. I would love all the licensed games and wish I had bought them when I had a chance before
The D&D beat-em-ups. Although re-released on other systems, other systems aren't the switch.

That old school arcade music is sick though! Listen to that 16-bit bass man: Dun dun-dun dun dun dun-dun dun!

I loved river city girls! Stoked to try this new one!
River City Girls my favorite beat em ups. Ordered the special edition from limited run for this too. Stoked for the RCG2!
Yeah, me too! Glen
Love the nostalgic feel to this one and if it goes on sale I’ll pick it up. Thanks for the review
the firsy beat em up game I played is The Adventures of Bayou Billy. Nice review guys, is good to see old games coming back!
Oh man Bayou Billy was a beast, slice kicking alligators like no one's business
Modern Vintage Gamer recently did a video on this (he was the lead developer). The game is emulated rather than being recreated, hence the lack of refinements and new features in the core gameplay.
Not bad for an old school game. A few QoL upgrades and it would be an amazing game for the catalog. Wishlisted for a sale right now though.
I got the limited run copy of the first game a year or two ago, and I absolutely love it.
Kunio tachi no banka....maaan this takes me back when I was in Japan. Those were the golden era of Nintendo
For sure mate!
Great review, as always guys. I'd love to see a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV remake for the Switch - I have some fond memories of that game as a kid and would love to experience it again with my own kids
“A kick in the kunios,” he said 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that made me legitimately laugh out loud!

I wanted to ask if you're gonna review no mans sky... I know you that you're gonna do a separate performance and visuals video, can't wait for this!
Same, but I don't think there's a release date yet. Just this summer. Hope it's not cloud🤞
I'd like to see Kirby first.
At this point, I'm starting to move away from the oldschool 8-bit games. I would have been interested in this one maybe a few years ago, but there's just way too much out there now that visually appeals to me more

I haven't played it myself mate but I have heard from people that it's fun if a little janky. Probably a 'sale' game. Glen
Co op is why im buying this game when it goes on sale
Even though I loved these type of games back in the 90s, I personally feel they have aged rather poorly gameplay wise. So I will skip this one, but cheers for the great review!
Hmmm. I might add this to my wishlist. Maybe. We'll see.
Cool Combatribes reference 😄😄😄
Yeah, I noticed that too. Haha. Glen
A kick in the kunyos? - ok you guys are gonna have to work hard this year to beat that opener 👍🏼
RCG OST is always a banger
I Kunio can’t miss out on this game.
I'm still waiting for the RPG one I have the collection that released for switch
I have this rom on my pspgo in Japanese might give it another look cheers switch up :)
Still the best Switch channel
Double Dragon vibes, I love it
Will pick it up when on sale
Haven’t played that new one, but meaning to get around to it. By that time? Hopefully there’ll be a nice sale for this.
😎🤙👍👍
Another Wayforward/MVG project 👌
Limited Run Physical release
I had a lot of fun with this on Xbox. I bet the on the go option would be nice for this one.

Another grvid thanks guys :) happy gaming
It is never a lot of skirts and fights 🤣🤣🤣
thats so retro! nice
Hahaha their fists look like hulk hands!!!!

I’m too spoiled by new school beat ‘em ups like Scott Pilgrim and Streets of Rage 4. Ah well. Thanks for the review!

_P 0 R N_ shoppe.
Glen, if you haven’t yet, do yourself a favour and check out Fight’n’Rage :)
Yeah I'd been holding out for a standard physical release as being over here in the U.K. it's not as easy to get hold of Limited Run releases. I'll definitely get it at some point though. Glen

LTDRG are selling a physical copy of this for the switch now. I do however think a physical is coming to retail later this year.
@@Kraken54321 Okay thanks for the help i'll keep an eye out for a physical at retail soon :)

I like River City Girls, but this game was weak even in 1994. It's even weaker now.
Nice 👍🏻
Did you say during the intro that the girls found the game in a pawn or porn shop?
I love the Kunio-kun series and will definitely be picking this up, especially as the graphics remind me of the super famicom games. I do wish they would have added rpg elements and am disappointed that they are missing.
I'm interested in this, but damn,
I hate that song from the trailer.
Sorry original translations beats Get Woke and get Broke translations.
It's How I Want to Play It!!
Haha did you say pawn shop or porn shop?
looks rough i prefer the other river city girls game :P
$14.99 USD? No thanks lol
I'm going to pass on this one, I'm not digging the pixel art.
In other words because the game is so dated and has problems a remake would have been better that a direct port with some bling.
I'll skip this game.
In a porn shop?🤔
Haha, when you are English, the words pawn and p*rn are pronounced in practically the same way. Makes it difficult whenever a game makes a reference to pawns. Glen
So they basically changed River City Ransom into a chick flick. 🤦🏽♂️ I'm good
What?
