The River City Girls are ready for round 2! Did they ever patch the frame rate?
The characters don't level up at the same time for replay value. In the 1st one you accumulated 4k in money to buy all the moves,food and accessories to level up quicker not that it made any significant difference because the enemies scales with you. That's just how the RC / Kunio series are designed as well as other rpg beat em ups like Scott Piligrim, tnmt, princess code, dragon crown , castle crashers, ect. The replaybility comes from staring the story from scratch on a new character with different move sets and stats. In RC 1 Misako hits heavier and is better at launch combo chains Kyoko is better suited for aerials and AOE .
Still gotta finish up the first game. Can't ever have enough of these great beatemups 👍

If you are looking for a beat em up on switch, Streets of Rage 4 is the way
Id rather play castle crashers or tmnt shredders revenge... even scott pilgrim over streets of rage

There's so many good beat em ups on switch that just naming streets of rage 4 is a huge disservice. Fight n Rage is a good one that's constantly overlooked. Jitsu squad just released is pretty fun even the takeover is a solid pick on switch as well

I like all the games you mentioned but replay value I prefer SOR4 especially online. Survival mode!
Shredders revenge has no replay value for me. Already it's hard to find someone to play with online. When the game first ce out it was lots of people on it and now you can barley find players. I have a better chance finding players on WORLD WAR Z than TMNT SR.
I just received my physical of River City Girls 1 & 2 today. Awesome games! So good i had to double dip on #1.

This games right up my alley, I really enjoyed the TMNT game that came out recently. Think ill grab the original one first then this one. Seems a perfect fit for handheld

I can confirm:
The variable framerate pissed my player 2 into giving up (at least for now).
And worse part os that THIS is the very kind of game I got a Switch to play.
Just bear RC1 yesterday in 12 hours because of the free weekend it was fun I enjoy it I loved noise that was a cool boss slap stick writing was a good funny times. The level up system was fun keep the game easy so I could beat it quickly so I didn’t have to pay a dime for it. Might get This when it drops in price
I've been holding out for the RCG 1&2 Japanese physical double-pack, but given all the problems I'm in no rush.
Awful shame about those technical issues. Hopefully the developers will release patches that address them so the boys over at Switch Up can then let the world know in a future All Patched Up video.
Just picked this game up and right off the bat it felt like they are trying to aim for something else. I don't know, might just be me but the feel of the original one isn't there. 2hrs in of gameplay and I strongly agree with your rating.

I'll end up getting this game, but I too would like to know how, for example, Tribute Games can get their games running at rock solid frame-rates (with a lot more happening on screen, and with less loading screens) yet Wayforward can't do the same with probably more of a budget and manpower?? Do most devs making Switch games just not want to optimize their games anymore? Or is the Switch really that out of date that it's too weak to run even 2D sidescroller beatemups?
I agree with what you said about locking certain games at a 30fps cap... seems fairly obvious and is certainly better than a fr fluctuating all over the damn place. But, what do we know?

there are pleny of beatem ups on switch that run at 60fps. plust the first game runs at 60fps
Itsa mixture of all those things but not for WayForward considering the OG ran at 60 on Switch
I wanna buy the physical copy of this on Play Asia. The first one is bundled in.

I still haven't completed the first one so I'll probably wait until I do that and for when I have time to. I do love that they turned Miriam into this bad ass fighter.
I’m loving the funny reference to the most random things nonstop, the gameplay drags and is so tedious at times compared to the first and for me it’s so annoying trying to position my character into the right place to hit accurately but it’s still fun, just wish it was a bite more linear like the first game, the backtracking gets really really damn annoying especially when you get unlucky enemy spawns and get juggled for a bit

Honestly, I wanted to hear if there was an alternate button for pick up weapon. Mostly spoiled from a post SoR4 world, but it doesn't appear to be in this game.

Speaking of framerates - I wish someone would do a comparison of the new Atari 50th Anniversary game. Atari is tight lipped about any potential differences between the different versions. It presents an interesting opportunity, though, as the game exists on the Atari VCS, not just Switch and PS4.
I still need the first game but I want to pick this up for sure also shadow gangs looks good but it’s kind of expensive 💫🎄
I might make a lot of people hate me by saying this but... i think WAYFORWARD is a bit overrated. Their games are cool and all, just feel like it's a lot of style over substance (and really didn't care for the plastic fisher-price look of Advance Wars REBOOT).
River City Rampage is one of my all time favorite games so I've wanted River City Girls since release but the price is outta my budget even on sale but hopefully with this sequel we can see the first game drop to that $10 mark some day.
It has been years since I played with beat 'em up games. Maybe I give a chance to this one.

Do you mean for River City Girls 2 on Switch specifically? Bc yeah that's what i've been looking for too! If you mean in general, I know SwitchUp has a series called All Patched Up where they revisit Switch games that had issues at launch but have received patches since
@warhellride idk if it's any difference in digital or physical in load times maybe just a few mili seconds but if there is yea I would love yo see that.

@@blazettor i play on switch cuz its not look different on other consoles i like it for solo play handheld, if you play alot on xbox online and you wanna play mostly coop then you play it there.
Sad to hear it doesn't seem like a big step from the original. Based on the footage it looks like more of the same, which isn't inherently bad, but the original could get pretty repetitious, especially if you were 100%ing it. I'll for sure look forward to this but think I'll wait for a sale. And maybe get it on Playstation instead of Switch.

I really enjoyed Scott Pilgrim but I feel like this arcade fighting type I have not explored this genre as much.

Thanks for the review! Even though I have a Switch, I am going to go for the Steam version of RCG2. I was wondering if the characters still lose money when they die? That was a very annoying aspect of the first River City Girls.

@@SwitchCorner I've been playing the second game on Nightmare difficulty, and despite being the hardest difficulty option, you lose a lot less money than you did in the original when you got a game over.

Over on play asia they have the double pack for under $40
And I'm the opposite. 60fps or bust. I'm tired of shit frame rates affecting my control

@@SwitchCorner ah. Nice. That's good. Because i actually hated the 1st game's voice acting. I had to mute the voice. The way they pronounce the names, that guy in the cafeteria with the weird russian accent even though the game is set in a japanese high school. 😅
I just got a physical copy of the Asian version, which includes both games on 1 cart. How is this game struggling to run at half the frame rate of the first game; which ran at 60fps? This games doesn't look better or is more complex than the first game in any way. They better patch it because I'm not going to support anything in this franchise if they don't. No reason for anything less than a solid 60fps.

Kinda looks like level dlc ; ; I just bought 1, I'm about half done it and it looks exactly the same,.in fact you could have told me this was the second half of part one and I would have believed it.

The frame rate is really bad I can't even do proper combo strings in Switch! I played the first one on PS4 with far better frame rate and I'm a beast on there. Please they need to fix the frame rate on Switch it's not a heavy game ffs!

Dead Ops Arcade scores higher than this. i retract my previous assumtion RCG Zero was a minigame to-begin-with it's this game that in-actuality worthy of the mini game title. shame. I suppose RCG Zero is the banger here.
