    I just received mine a few weeks ago, have been cutting geotextiles with it. I am going on a quilt retreat in a few weeks and thought to bring it along, is it too heavy duty for quilting fabrics? Also, should I turn off each time I need to reposition the fabric or just leave it spinning for a bit, I have tended to turn on and off, thinking I don't want it just spinning by itself, but maybe that's fine? Finally, can you use with acrylic templates, or just mark the fabric first?

      @SailriteWorkbench  2 года назад +3

      1. Although the Rotary Cutter is a heavy-duty tool, it can cut light fabrics safely and efficiently.
      2. We recommend turning your cordless cutter off while repositioning your fabric for safety reasons.
      3. Lastly, we don't recommend using this tool with acrylic templates. It would be best to mark the fabric first.
      Let us know if you have anymore questions!

    When are you going to build a left handed version? It looks like I wouldn't be able to see the material cut line easily when cutting left handed.

    • @SailriteWorkbench
      @SailriteWorkbench  2 года назад +4

      This tool can be used with both left and right hands but because of the design, it does create more limited visibility when used with the left. That being said, several left-handed employees here at Sailrite tested this tool out and they were able to use this tool with their right hand with ease. Because this tool involves very little dexterity, they were able to gently guide the tool through their cuts easily.

    have you ever cut coroplast with it ? want to cut coroplast to make sign designs. thanks

      @SailriteWorkbench  11 месяцев назад

      The Cordless Rotary Cutter will cut through coroplast but you need to be careful with the amount of pressure you apply so you don't cut all the way through. You should practice and get the feel for cutting straight lines and curves before attempting to cut the coroplast. Hope this helps!

    Will be getting this for sure! I think it will work with being left handed because I’m so used to having right handed tools I have adjusted how I look at the cutting line.

    On average how long for the battery last on one charge and how long does it take to recharge the battery?

    • @SailriteWorkbench
      @SailriteWorkbench  10 месяцев назад

      Each battery in the electric rotary cutter provides up to 2 hours of runtime and takes about 2 hours to recharge fully. With two batteries included, you can easily swap them out for uninterrupted cutting.

    Oh man I was looking for something like this to cut particle board. I think that’s what it’s called it’s that white board material that is used to make my kids wood seat part and the table top very thin particle board but think goes by a different name something like m.. starts with. M? Will this cut board ?

    • @SailriteWorkbench
      @SailriteWorkbench  Год назад

      I think you're referring to Melamine, which is a type of particle board with a white laminated surface. While we haven't tested our tools on Melamine specifically, it would likely dull the blade. We wouldn't recommend using this tool for cutting particle board. Instead, we suggest using a blade specifically designed for cutting Melamine to ensure the best results and maintain the longevity of your tools. Hope this helps!

    Can you run this against a rail? Say a 2X4? So you can cut fabric straight? I’d like to set up a jig on my 8’ quilting table.

    • @SailriteWorkbench
      @SailriteWorkbench  Год назад +1

      Hi there! We don't recommend running our cutter against a rail, such as a 2x4, as there isn't a reliable way to do so. Instead, we suggest measuring and marking your fabric before cutting to ensure straight lines. Let us know if you have any other questions or need further assistance!
