  • I can't believe these JRPGs are good; they look either silly, dumb, lame or straight up mediocre. But when I played them, I got a very pleasant surprise.

    Glad you liked Marl! Rhapsody 3 is N1's first game to introduce the lvl 9999 cap before La Pucelle and Disgaea. Maxing stats in Rhapsody 3 is as hardcore a grind as any Disgaea!

    For me, I was surprised how enjoyable and well polished Stella Glow was. It was ridiculously cheap before e-shop closed as well. That game had good mechanics, a fun story, and the voice acting was good.

    fyi, KEMCO RPGs, I actually enjoy them quite abit. They may often reuse the same battle system with little changes and tend to use the same features, but they always have an exclusive gimmick of some form. You don't see people who play Pokemon say all their games are bad and use them reusing the battle system allot as a complaint. Despite the fact mainline Pokemon (excluding Legends Arceus, that is a completely different game in gameplay) has been using the same battle system since its start as a franchise (excluding Gen 1's bad programming), with generation exclusive gimmicks and facilities used to mix it up.
    KEMCO has it's game exclusive gimmicks too. Overrogue for example, it isn't even the same exact battle system they've been using. That game has a battle system similar to other card based roguelikes, as that is that game's genre in addition to being story driven like an RPG. That is that game's gimmick. Being a roguelike cardgame. If you need a more proper example, how about "Marinian Tavern Story: Patty and the Hungry God"? That is a restaurant management sim and an RPG. The game's gimmick is that consuming foods is how you get stronger. You can't get all your stats by battle.
    I don't like how you talked about near every KEMCO RPG out there, it was rather harsh of you infact. But, I'm not going to beg you to change your mind on not liking those games, I can only post a defense against your claims against every KEMCO RPG out there. I have not played them all, and have not bought any DLC for them. But I can say, I enjoy them quite abit. To the point that when I see a new KEMCO RPG, I am happy for that, instead of being disappointed they released another. This comment is from someone who quit Genshin Impact only because the story was so boring to sit through any further.

    My first thought from the title was Okage Shadow King! Another one I was thinking about from PS1 is Shadow Madness. A pretty unassuming little game, but it has everything there.
    Oh and (hear me out) FFX-2 is surprisingly good, despite the girl power theme. The dress spheres, fast paced combat and character growth are leagues ahead of FFX.

The game turned out to actualy be good, the story was suprisingly interesting, decent combat. In the end I finished and enjoyed the game for 20 hours.

    I loved Light Crusader on Megadrive back in the day! The graphics looked so good! I liked the puzzles and the gameplay. Too bad the save feature didn't work on my copy. Maybe I needed to change the battery and didn't know about it, I can't remember the details, it was so long ago. So I had to replay it over and over again. One time, I had a glitch when I got lots of items in an inventory. But sadly, I had to turn the console off at some point and lost it.

    Its unfortunate that some of these dont have hard copy releases. Battle Princess is something I hope we see a physical of at some point, even if somehow fit into a collection of games we never got one for. Destiny of an Emperor is great. It was great back then and it is still great now imo, Capcom had a different spin on the whole Three Kingdoms experience on NES. Stellar list of games, some which no one discusses, thanks Erick!

      Eh, physical is dying, what's the point when digital is a much cheaper and much easier way to get games now
      People need to wake up to the reality that all of their physical games will one day stop working altogether, ESPECIALLY those from very old consoles whose parts are no longer available to replace should the inevitable happen

    • @MiamiSunrise
      @MiamiSunrise Месяц назад +5

      @@martinde-serres8724 I'll tell you why. Because digital content being "much cheaper" as a general rule is not true. Some of the time it is. Also, digital content is worth absolutely nothing after purchase. Preservation is important and physical media does provide a version of that. Tangibility and having something to show for my money is important. Those "old consoles" you are referring are being kept alive by a long list of gaming repairmen and gaming fans out there and will be for a long time. You should wake up to the reality that digital content isnt always available because its digital.

      @@MiamiSunrise ''Those "old consoles" you are referring are being kept alive by a long list of gaming repairmen and gaming fans out there''
      No, that's not true cause again, those parts for making those old consoles are no longer available at all, stop saying bullshit claims without showing any proof ok
      I have such gaming repairmen in my area and they DON'T have said parts to repair them and have told me multiple times it's impossible to do so.
      Also, in dozens of years, your physical copies WILL stop working completely, which is why digital WILL be the future of the industry as it'll cut costs for physical
      YOU clearly don't know shit about this whole industry to reply back with nothing but bullshit info, so do your research thoroughly, please
      As someone who DO work in the industry, I know more than your ''RUclipsr status'', so STFU now

    • @martinde-serres8724
      @martinde-serres8724 Месяц назад

      @@MiamiSunrise ''Preservation is important and physical media does provide a version of that.''
      Also, if that's true, then how come we RARELY see those old games being re-rereleased physically for modern consoles, then?
      Most of those old games are LOST for eternity due to no one having the rights for them, hence why it's nearly impossible to preserve them or else we would've gotten MASSIVE retro collections on modern consoles
      ''Because digital content being "much cheaper" as a general rule is not true.''
      Euh, yes it is. 90% of the time, a game goes cheaper on sale digitally compared to its physical counterpart, even multiple times in the same year
      Hell, you won't see physical games on PC going on sale... oh wait, they stopped making physical for them because of Steam/GOG/other digital store out there
      Also, not ALL games from the last few generations have EVER received physical copies cause of 3 reasons: 1. because the developers have no budget for that, 2. because the developers know most 3rd-party companies like Limited Run Games are scummy bastards overselling and overpromising them for years now, hence why they either self-publish them or straight up skip physical altogether or 3. because most of those games suck and aren't worth the trouble into making bank with physical media especially due to the fact that physical has declined for years now in favor of digital
      So yeah, ya uncultured and incompetent dipshit, you have proven me once again that you're replying nothing but false claims
