Exploring The Old Waverley Route - Part 1

I headed out to some local woods to me looking for traces of the old Waverley railway line, which ran from Edinburgh to Carlisle but was closed in January 1969 . (Part of the line re-opened sept 2015 Newcraighall to Tweedbank only)
I came across the old station house at Scotch Dyke with one of the platforms still in place .
I also visited some other local sights to make it a good afternoon walk.

My mum was born at Scotch Dyke in the big house next to the Station in 1931. Her dad was station master
