Great discussion, guys! This is exactly right! So glad he's talking about the truth behind how big channels grow. It's the principle we've been saying for years, "Optimize for people, not robots."
I think a lot of people fail/quit at things in life because they severely underestimate the amount of work that goes into it, whether that is a career or creating a product

That only works if the videos cost from none to little money. But for high-valued videos which cost a lot of money per episode, low view/sub CAN KILL the channel! When creators run out of money, they can no longer make videos. I run an UNBOXING CHANNEL. Each video cost me from USD50 to USD300 for product and props. Alas, no matter how hard I make my videos artistic and better than other unboxing channels, viewers still skip my content because you don't have to watch entire unboxing video to get the gist. I feel RUclips doesn't support me at all.
@@FigureUnboxing Hey man this is 4 month old comment but seeming as you still have some of the things I want to bring up I wanted to give you some advice as just a seeming regular viewer that just discovered your channel. This is just my advice so don’t take it to heart. But I wanted to tell you to stop blaming RUclips for your channel not growing the way you want it to. it requires a lot of determination to be successful on RUclips and your time might not just be there yet. Lastly your channel is a very specific niche, not everyone is gonna be interested in unboxing videos about figures so take this to mind, but also look at your competition, other unboxing channels and figure out what they do that makes them so watchable and apply some concepts to your channel, there’s nothing wrong with taking inspiration. Chances are you won’t read this and I wasted my time but I had to reply because people that blame RUclips for their problems usually need feedback.
@@Downbubbles2 Thanks for the tip. I will try to do what you suggested. I admit sometimes I feel bitter. I do try to be innovative. But when I look for my competitors, those who unbox on their desk with minor filming equipment get more views. It's like a cheap B-movie gets more sale than a blockbuster movie, sort of. So of course I blame the algorithm. I mean it's not the first time that RUclips algorithm drowns other channels. My big problem is 4000 view time which is almost impossible for unboxing genre where people ALWAYS SKIP. I did try with 15min videos with bad retention (2minutes). So I cut it to 4-5minutes but the retention is the same (2mins). At the same time, it's very hard to maintain the quality I'm putting on right now with very limited budget and no sponsorship. Friends suggest me to try TikTok as their algorithm is very good. They said all unboxers grow there then spread TikTok influence to their RUclips channel. I may want to try that also.
@@FigureUnboxing I’ll keep this short and sweet because this is actually pretty exciting for your channel, it looks like you have discovered a gap in the action figures unboxing market on RUclips, so much in fact that I discovered one of your videos in the top page of search if I put a filter for only videos made in the last month. So please, TAKE advantage of this, if you can start unboxing very popular figures from popular franchises this would be huge, it looks like Marvel and DC were the big dogs of action figures unboxing videos back in the day, so I would try and figure out how many people are still interested in that. If you started videos back when Attack on Titans was on its peak and there were action figures made out of that show you could’ve taken advantage of that. That looks like it’s just the way for RUclips channels to grow without it taking half a decade or something. If you’re looking for some advice to get better audience retention I would look to watch channels like Film Booth and Channel Makers, those are channels that advise you and inform you on how the “algorithm” works and how to get better at analytics like that.
@@Downbubbles2 Thanks for your encouragement. Yes, I will try that also. I do have plans for unboxing Dr Strange and Thor, although still from Japanese figure line. If I'm still here it means I still haven't given up :)
"people notice when you go the extra mile" - 100% yes, they do and they love it. Put it in the extra effort and viewers love it. Of course, the opposite is true. Bash together a badly edited, low effort video and you'll not see the results 👍
Awesome advice MrBeast! My key takeaway is to keep it simple. RUclips's goal is to have people click and watch, click and watch, click and watch. Tell your audience why you should watch your video at the very beginning of the video. Retention grasp is key! Shoot for high click-through rate and average view duration / percentage watched.

He's like the Warren Buffet of RUclips. A sage when it comes to knowing how to get the most out of the platform and give back to his viewers. It seems like growth on youtube is potentially exponential. The hardest part is in the beginning...then it begins to slowly (in most cases) gain some traction and ultimately snowballs into a following. That's what I'm hoping anyway.
14:10 Best part. 😂 "Honestly... I'm sure once I get used to it I'll like it." It means so much to have one of the most influential creators on the platform say that he is not a fan of Studio, just like most of us.
The thing that apparently not many people is realizing is that this change from Classic to Studio feels *unnecessary* and that's the barrier. If it were that good, every creator would *want* to use Studio and not be forced to. I know they needed feedback, but feedback from people that are willing to use your product is way more useful than feedback from those forced to. I'm a programmer myself, it was a piece of cake to understand the logic of the new menus and where things are in Studio, but I have enough experience to understand how frustrating it is for the general creator. But just like the change to Studio, any rant I give is *unnecessary* and the change is imminent. Anyway, again, it meant a lot to hear an honest feedback from MrBeast (who got where he is using the tools available in Classic, btw). :)
I must say, Jimmy is by far the most impressive creator. He could of turned of up like RiceGum and quit, but he didn’t. (Ik a bad reference, couldn’t think.) He could of kept doing regular stuff but he didn’t, he pushed so far, that’s why he is so successful.
I agree with going the extra mile and putting in more effort, but the strange thing is the videos that I slapped together and I almost didn't upload did the best. My most views video is terrible!
Same here. 😄 To a large extent it’s just the topic, title, and thumbnail that attract viewers and they don’t seem to care that the video was thrown together. But that’s for individual videos. If your videos in general are well-done I think it builds your reputation and gets you longer term fans. Mr. Beast had some really big videos even a couple years ago, like late 2017 to early 2018, but now he’s huge because *every* video gets tons of views, and most people want to watch more.
Best advice. If your video sux it won't get views and audience retention! Simple! When I was watching Mr Beast last year I really felt like it was the pinnacle moment for RUclips as a medium. It's really grown as an reputable entertainment source. I think the key factors from observing these successful videos is to keep your audience engaged and entertained and also so they can gain something from watching!! Thanks Mr Beast for paving the way for us little RUclipsrs!!
I love that you are proof that good deeds can get so much attention. It shows that humanity does have a chance, and good on you for showing us all that through your positivity and passion that success can still be had. I look forward to meeting you, as a fellow you tuber, I have sooo much to learn.
Completely agree that surveys should overpower watch time for the algorithm. Hopefully, they are implemented more frequently. Not all content is watch-time friendly, but still very satisfying!
A lot of really thoughtful insight into this. I think the biggest takeaway is planning, consistency, understanding metrics (if even at a basic level), and investing in your content. Even if that investment is skill based, taking a little bit more time to try a new shot, to get a better shot, to understand your audience or equipment. Thanks for this one!
This was one of the most amazing videos about what to focus on as RUclipsr. I am tiny RUclipsr trying to grow on RUclips. I am figuring out what works and what does not work on RUclips. For me, this was a masterclass absolutely free. Thank you, Todd and Creator Insider for doing these interviews.
Great video! MrBeast inspired me to make a RUclips channel. I loved how he was so transparent about his RUclips goals in his old videos but I still like his new stuff though!
This was a lot better than the other creator studio videos. My biggest takeaway is that I need to tell viewers what to expect in the opening of my videos. I try to do that with the title, but hitting people hard with an explanation at the beginning would really help. Writing 101 - Have a good introduction! Same for videos, I guess.
Yes! Please do more of this kind of content. Teach us how to be better at using the platform. Also please show us how to find things in the RUclips Studio.
I also think RUclips is just going to get bigger and better, I personally love RUclips, that's exactly why I'm here. Thanks for all the hard work you guys put in to make things what they are ♥️.
Moral of the story, always follow your dreams and have fun learning along the way. The more you put in, the more you get out of it. I am always learning new things for my videos and to make them better. Thank you for the awesome video.
Great Conversation! The back and forth interaction seemed incredibly honest and genuine. Thank you, MrBeast, for giving some great tips and things to keep in mind for channels of all sizes and content areas.
Question, does having ads vs. no ads running on a video change how RUclips pushes it or not, does it change to who they push it to? What are peoples thoughts on this.
I have started to put entertaining hooks at the start of my videos recently and watch time has increased massively compared to when I just used to put a plain, silent title card. Also, thank you MrBeast for taking the time to make this video with Creator Insider, this should hopefully make my channel grow! Thank you to RUclips as well for providing a platform that anyone can share their stories on:)
The truth about success on RUclips is exactly the same as the truth about success in the rest of life. A small number of people will do amazingly well but the rest will never have a major breakthrough. There are plenty of channels that produce amazing content (Foreman and Wilms Adventures is one example) but they never they the break they deserve. There are plenty of other channels that do very little and produce junk but are wildly successful. That's how life is.
Tell me about it! I've been producing content on RUclips for over a decade, and while the quality of my content improved over a very gradual period of time, I've always put a _lot_ of time, work, and effort into my content, as mine is an artistic channel, and as the saying goes, "You can't rush art." Sometimes it can take anywhere from a few days to even a few _months_ (sometimes even _longer_ than that) just for me to put one of my videos together - especially if it's a one-man production. Nevertheless, it's still very, very frustrating to see such effortless (well, that may be a tad harsh) videos like narcissistic vlogs, top 10s, reviews, and such are what garner all the views, subs, traffic, and such - it's like what's even the point in putting any kind of effort into creating content at all then?
Joseph Scarbrough Puppet Productions Your content is great, don’t let a lack of millionaire success get you down. Really you can make a cash cow RUclips channel if you stop focusing on what you like (as odd as that sounds) and focus on what the algorithm likes. It’s not your fault that the world doesn’t know who Joseph Scarbrough is, but if you want to make money, then prioritizing viral content is the way to go.
@@dezzick398 It's not even about making money or seeking fame and fortune for me - it never has been . . . but I'm also not interested in falling in line with conformity and becoming just another face in an endless sea of whatever the zeitgeist is; I follow the beat of my own drum. But, I will point out, though, that the algorithm _is_ rigged against us little guys; has been for a number of years.
This is a MUCH better video than the usual creator insider junk. Thank you! Honest feedback... I like old studio.. i like where everythingis and how the menus work. How about a Beta 2 that combines the good stuff from the new with the old ?
4:37 That's what I've been saying!! Which makes me wonder why RUclips offers the partner program based on subscriber count and watch hours. It would make more sense to base it on retention and click through rate.

Great video guys! I'm trying to learn how to grow my channel everyday for sure. I started my channel last year and I'm just continuing to have fun creating content. Thanks for all the tips and appreciate you guys sharing your wisdom.
Looking through the comments from 3 years ago, it is interesting to see that some of the channels at the time that were "nothing" are now big channels with over 1 million subscribers. This definitely shows that what was discussed in this video is of great value as long as you take it onboard.
I liked the comment about creating a good environment to keep yourself motivated. For those of us making videos by ourselves that means things like playing relaxing music while we edit and putting some sentimentally valuable objects in our filming space.
Guys, nice video! Any insight like this is super helpful. I''ll probably re-watch it at some point. Like MrBeast was saying, it appears to come down to the simpler things like topic, click-through, retaining an audience, and making a solid connection with viewers. Given my current level of success, I've got a long way to go. ;D The retaining an audience has been my biggest difficulty over the years.
I watched the entire video because I'm so hooked with this insightful interview with MrBeast. I learned a lot and I am more inspired to do better to grow my channel and I believe one day I can make it BIG. Thank you for this amazing video share. Looking forward to the next one.
What I took away: Good ideas are key and pay attention to your analytics- keep trying to give your viewers, & YT, what they want and you better your chances for growth.

I think it is paramount to recognize Mr. Beast is literally just someone who hustled and worked hard while enjoying the journey.. NEVER ABOUT MONEY... keep that in mind.
That's how I feel, it's not about the money it's about something I can leave behind for my children's, children's children, and that is my words. Also my videos are not for the ones that have short attention spans...

"I can't find anything half the time"
@@archvaldor that's funny, I see comments like that and I think "this guy probably didn't even tried to search and learn" 😂😂😂
Love you guys' conversation. I am enjoying the process of being a RUclipsr. The money is just second.

Mr Beast is a huge inspiration! Thanks for all the advices!
.
Hii
True! Mr. Beast inspires us with all his knowledge about success in this field.
This may be one of the most helpful videos on youtube. When you look at someone as successful as Mr Beast this stuff is gold!
I don’t understand English can you tell me in shorts what he said how to get more views
This is some great content, cool to see MrBeast in this type of setting. Also very helpful for us smaller creators!
I have spent more than 40 hours making a video analyzing him. Man, the guy is building a real business empire.
Loved it! He literally told everything one needs to do become a successful RUclipsr. No BS, Just everything that works, explained in a simple manner.
I love this video, I share it to everyone who wants to make youtube videos.

Good to see you here, love birds

Love it guys, thank you MrBeast for all your amazing advice and thanks Creator Insider for hosting him!!! 2022 is going to be Epic!!!😄👍
This is awesome. Thanks so much for making this.
Thanks for the tips Mr. Beast! Thank you creator insider for the interview. It is inspiring and encouraging.
Yes! Please do more of this kind of content. Teach us how to be better at using the platform. Also please show us how to find things in the RUclips Studio.
Never knew forex could be so challenging! Kept running back to these RUclips videos to learn more about this your video is indeed helpful Thanks.
Sadly these are one of the changes in forex trade profit is not always assured.
Growing an account requires dedication and Patience.
I was winning in a demo before I started a live account... All i can say is that i lost a sum of $2000 in there different attempts.
Trade has left me no choice but to keep investing because it makes so much profit for me.
I've been during trade offshore and still in yet to earn my first $100, what strategy do you use please.
Mr Beast is at the level, that we will watch whatever he posts, because we know it's going be good and somehow leave you with that feel good feeling
I’ve heard his name and knew he was really successful but this is the first time I’d seen him. Amazing!! Thanks so much for your great tips!!
"Todd's Picks" playlist has a couple vids about Mr Beast that you will love! His stats are so impressive!
WOW! Less than 30,000 views and MrBeast is dropping some AMAZING knowledge! We all appreciate this so much!
Because this tricks do not work for small channels. Lucky to have that many views.
I also think RUclips is just going to get bigger and better, I personally love RUclips, that's exactly why I'm here. Thanks for all the hard work you guys put in to make things what they are ♥️.

This didn't aged well
Moral of the story, always follow your dreams and have fun learning along the way. The more you put in, the more you get out of it. I am always learning new things for my videos and to make them better. Thank you for the awesome video.
Glad to be here. Thanks so much for sharing.
Really loved the discussion here great job! 😀

Indeed, Mr. Kan ❤
@Cam bigo I really did love the conversation :)

Great Conversation! The back and forth interaction seemed incredibly honest and genuine. Thank you, MrBeast, for giving some great tips and things to keep in mind for channels of all sizes and content areas.
❤️
As a new RUclipsr this is probably one of the best videos I've seen! Thanks MrBeast for taking the time to help out the little guys!
And now you’re almost 100k 🎉
Todd seems like one of the most impassioned speakers ever! His facial expression barely changed throughout the whole video!
This video was so informative in many ways. Thanks so much for this knowledge and for the motivation. We will keep grinding 🔥

Thanks YT engineers for all the hard work you put in. 😊 You deserve some props.
I learned a lot from this video alone than I do from some creator friendly channels.
Thanks for great interview guys!
Western Australia Now and Then This!!!!
Thank you for these videos!

sir
4:37 That's what I've been saying!! Which makes me wonder why RUclips offers the partner program based on subscriber count and watch hours. It would make more sense to base it on retention and click through rate.
@MrBeast was born to be The Best RUclipsr In This World, no competition for him !
.
How about PewDiePie
@@trustgod912 I’m a fan of both but just being real mrbeast is another level when it comes to content dude, Obviously pewdiepie is huge but he’s been around a lot longer
@@trustgod912 piewdiepiew is just popular but not entertaining bro.
If you listen to him on the JRE podcast it's obvious why. He has lived and breathed RUclips since 11 years old. And that's almost an understatement lol.
I love the transparency and super helpful tips! thank you!

Both the presenters are so friendly and of course, much dignified. Thanks for sharing your youtube tips!
Thanks Creator Insider for this content! There's a lot of good nuggets inside this one!
I liked the comment about creating a good environment to keep yourself motivated. For those of us making videos by ourselves that means things like playing relaxing music while we edit and putting some sentimentally valuable objects in our filming space.
Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
mrbeast greatest asset is his patience. he puts so much time into his projects both on cam and behind the scenes.
Some beautiful gold nuggets of wisdom from My Beast for us small creators trying to better ourselves. I love this.
Absolutely. Took some notes for sure!

Thanks Mr. Beast for the great tips and thanks Tod for putting this together!

You should do more interviews like this! It was brilliant
That's great!
Confirms again what is important to grow and retain audience.
Thanks for taking the time to share Mr. Beast.
Thank you for this! I took notes. No one makes me feel more motivated than Mr. Beast 😊

14:43 Mr Beast mentioning team seas that he finally got to work on in 2021, so that's cool to see him mention way back when
I think it is paramount to recognize Mr.
