    Greetings kind sir! I've been a subscriber for a long time. I bought my first house in 2018. I rented it from my in laws 3 years before. With it i inherited a severly rotted maple tree that was rotten right in the middle, but just before all the weight began. And the majority of it hung right over my house and garage, with the lesser of the weight hanging over my street. I had cut trees with the city for a year, but was, and still am, very green. I had no idea how i was going to get this tree down. At 65 feet tall, and 40 inches at the base, hiring it out was not within my budget. Then i happened upon you and your channel. I watched everyone you put out, and still do. And a fella learned a lot! I rented a lift and systematically chunked the tree down, paying careful attention to weight relief. I also used some knot/rope knowledge i gained from some of my extracurricular studies. Long story a little shorter, i removed the tree successfully. Couldnt have done it without your sharing of knowledge. This is very late in saying, but i very much appreciate you. I enjoy listening to your thoughts on life just as much as the tree talk. Keep up the good work. Your building huge treasure above. Peace be your journey, sir

Because of you, August, God has showed me something that I like and love to do and I can help families that can’t afford what these big companies ask to save their home from being wrecked destroyed. It is awesome.

    I have had a similar SENA problem. The contact points on the helmet side wore out. I bought a new kit without a brain for $30 or $40 on Amazon. Also, when your SENA batteries wear out you can get a better replacement for $10.

    Mr August...... I sure do wish that you could have a weld shop make you a nice all aluminum totally enclosed basket with a kind of a French door that folded down reach out nip a few branches off so you can get close to the trunk way up high on that small diameter top...wrap a rope lifting strap whatever around the tree.... Run another Hook from the crane onto the lifting strap.... It has lots of slack in it... Then have the crane operator lower your basket down to where you're going to cut the tree.... Step outside the basket and harness yourself to the tree..... And then have him lift up until the lifting strap gets tight and the basket comes up with the lifting strap and gets it out of the way and puts tension on the piece that you're going to lift off of there.... And after you cut it it gets lifted off of there with the basket dangling alongside of it... He sets the basket and the tree down on the ground....And you are. Now going to wait till the hook comes back to you.... And hook it up and prepare it for the next lift and you repel down to your cutting point. The basket could be used for all kinds of things. Different techniques of limbing starting at the bottom of the crane operator slowly lifts you up the side of the tree you limb as you go.... But the really cool part is you don't have to climb way up to the top of the tree to do the initial hookup for the first Lift.
    Another thing you could do.... If you were worried about branches falling on houses and plants.... Is just have multiple chokers hanging from the basket... Hook one up to a branch and cut the branch and let it dangle. Do the same half dozen other small branches. Crane operator now dangles you and the basket and the hanging branches back over by the chipper truck and have him lift you back up there and dangle you over to the right spot two cuts more branches and do the whole thing over again.

    I'd say you know as much about tree work and trees as I do about railroad. I understand you were experiencing problems with your communication system and made due with what you had available but as a suggestion by a person whose life many times depended upon radio communication that you and whoever you are working with use a more defined radio communication protocol such as the one us railroaders use so that there are no miscommunications. I understand that it was a requirement of my job and had to be FCC trained and qualified to use the radio but a bit more formality can prevent misunderstandings.
    For example when you end your statement to the other person use "over" and let the other person respond with roger as affirmative and the use of proper wording instead of "what" use the word "repeat" etc... I know it's an extra bit of effort but both you and I have found ourselves where a miscommunication due to radio misinterpretation could mean the difference between life and death. This is just my observation having worked a very dangerous job in a rail yard and out on the main for many years. I hope this is taken in the way it was meant as a suggestion by someone who thinks you and you your crew are some great fellows who do very dangerous work.

      I'm surprised a railroader didn't mention the faux pas of fouling the tracks with the suspended load. I don't know what went on behind the scenes but I know that heads would roll in my territory if a tree guy (or anyone!) did that without coordination from the RR.

    • @JPaul60
      @JPaul60 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@v3124 Yeah well, they must have had protection while they were working and were given a certain amount of foul time to complete the work. That's how it works in my former territory. I mainly worked under 11500vac wire so there was a lot more to it when the tree guys had to cut back the trees. August is pretty thorough so no need to write a book in the comment section.
