I really liked your makeover. The only things I would have done differently is use a lighter wood stain and paint the strip between the drawers. I love to see you keeping some of the natural wood instead of painting the whole piece!

I don't know if you heard me, but I'm glad you actually "saved your knees!" lol I thought this was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, UNTIL THE DRAWERS! Nooo that looked mixed-matched! If the drawers were black as well, it would be perfect in my eyes, but hey everybody's taste isn't the same.

Interesting looking piece. It has a very distinct style and the two tone paint job works well on it. I felt a little doubtful halfway through the video, but ended up liking the result.
I would probably paint the silver hardware in a dark bronze, though - they look a little too bright and shiny, imo. But hey, that's something the new owners can easily do themselves.

My husband is a woodworker so I took a peek at your work. I watched you refinish a dining table and dresser and I liked what you did. The buffet? Not so much. I would have kept it more uniform and chosen different hardware. I have an art nouveau antique buffet (or sideboard) with a unique dolphin design and keyhole hardware that we bought years ago at an antique fair for $500. It has served us well over the years but needs the top refinished as our dining room skylight has faded the top. The wood finish is similar to the original piece. I will be interested in seeing future episodes. :)

These pieces are just gorgeous I think in the before & afters & some sell for 3K to 3.5K. They’re very good turnovers even if you’ve paid $150 to purchase it. I thought what you did was good & a more modern improvement than before. If it were me I’d probably left the top, legs & the design on the little door fronts the same colors but lighter including the strip between the drawers & that longer wood piece on the top drawer. The reason why being these are the prettiest parts on this piece & a lighter vrs. darker color pulls them out & forward where a darker color hides & pushes the pretty parts away. You want to highlight those pieces bc they’re focal points on the piece & will probably make them sell better. The rest of it I just wouldn’t use black but there’s a lot of other wonderful colors you could use. Blues, greens, corals or other colors I’ve seen used that are beautiful. I’d of kept the inside the same color as the top, legs & door fronts. I wouldn’t of used silver for the handles but a more golden color. When I saw all the cites on refinishing furniture I started saving videos on some of the ones I liked & I saved many on these buffets. If I were doing one of these I refer to one of those vids to help me decide on the right color until I developed a feel for what I thought would be the best. You still did a beautiful job & I think a lot of men would of painted it black.

What did you use to remove the water stains? You mentioned it in the video, but I couldn't tell exactly what you said. :) Thanks

Hello. I enjoyed your video. Quick question. Is there any issue with topping an oil based primer with the mineral paint? I recently tried to use up some of my paint supply on a couple of wicker chairs, and when I topped the latex based paint with the oil paint, it become extremely tacky. I assume this was because I mixed oil and water based paints. I ended up buying more oil based spray paint and was able to save the chairs, but it definitely didn’t save me any money, as I’d originally hoped to do by using up my stash. lol.

Beautiful, I would love to try this, but I don’t have a sprayer is there another way to apply the poly?

Many people use a foam applicator, I haven't myself but it seems like a good way to do it!
