    This is such a hard lecture to take in. I’ve been studying Sufism on my own for 25 years now. Still have not found the teacher or had them find me.

      Did it without a teacher and I wouldn’t want it any other way. No two paths are the same

      Actually, a central belief of Sufism is that no teacher is needed. In the Quran it says that there is no space between God and a person wishing to serve Him. There should be no middleman. And as the Divine is within all things, and its Silence draws no attention to itself, being in the space of our own quiet is the only book to read. :)

      Sufism is just a word, Truth is the heart. Every tradition, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu - one truth, one world, one humanity, one god.

    Uncanny. I was browsing his books online while listening, and just as he mentions «wool carding» the bookshop algorithm is advertising balls of yarn to be bought which is somehow «related» to his books. I had to pause for a while and replay to make sure he was saying «wool» and not «wood.» The algorithm has probably picked up the word from his books, but the way that artificial intelligence can create synchronizities gives me goosebumps sometimes.

    There are elaborate ways to meditate in sufi texts right from the beginning. Zikrs,Ashghals,Lataif e Satta in Naqshbandi school. Maraqba or Meditation is the basis.

    "when the student is ready the teacher will come" I'm not sure of the origin of this quote. I'm thinking maybe the Upanishads, not sure.

    Sorry. This guy knows some information, but I cannot see the point of all this talk. He does not strike me as a "teacher", so why is he trying to teach?

    • @mind_palace
      @mind_palace 4 года назад +1

      he is talking about the person who you find interesting to learn from, one who you feel connected with, a person you resonate with will be the one. if it is not him then sure it can be someone else.
      until that point you can educate and learn and experience life yourself.
      this video isnt a teaching per se, he has more information on Sufism, I would recommend those. this video is more of an elongated answer to one question

    • @cynic150
      @cynic150 4 года назад

      @@mind_palace As you say, learning is experiential, so what is the point of this talk?

    • @mind_palace
      @mind_palace 4 года назад

      @@cynic150 yep exactly, to some it will exist of doing the inner work and finding that inner light and wisdom, to others it is reading about it, maybe attending seminars, use music or silence as a way on the path of going within. as the women stated in the beginning, for her it was important of having a spiritual teacher, for some this is needed, for some it still needs some time maybe, the desire should be there too. being inspired to have a mentor. I get your point too, we are our own spiritual mentors and as we all heard before, the answers lie within. and words will not be enough to express the true nature of that. the best possible thing is to do that which is inspiring or in-spirit, that within you that is line and resonates within you.

      You are seeing the answer to one question, not to the talk from which it comes. Try some full talks. And, he may not be YOUR teacher, but he is mine.
