I live how even though the other vampires are grotesque killing machines they still have the honor to not get involved and allow a one on one fight. Great finish. Might be Hartnett’s best film.
I remember my aunty Snuck me into this movie when I was 15 . She told the guy at the door that she left something in the car . And they allowed me to go in . I was by myself . I remember in 2007 I went in not Knowing what it was about . At the end I was hooked . It was a dope movie. One of my top 5 vampire movies .
Indeed it was for Yours Truly also. I am guilty of pathetically geeking out while imagining alternative endings where I am the bland but sturdy Josh Harnett's character.
I don't think he was fully at vampire strength yet. He still has some humanity left in him. But eventually he will become full evil. He knows that and that is why he lets himself die.
Imagine these two Vampires (both Protagonist and Antagonist) vs. Marcus and Michael (Vampire-Lycan Hybrids) from the 2006 film Underworld Evolution, interesting 2 on 2 fight/battle.
@@KingCraze22the fact is, Marlow wanst only the leader, he brought with him a misterious vibe. Like he know more than we can think, see him dying like nothing broke all that

This is a great movie, but I always wondered what it would have been like, if it would have been better that Ebyn had gone after and hunted down the other vampires, before killing them off one at a time for the second movie. Then faced the sun and his death at the end. The second movie was alright. I mean his wife hunts them down and ends up killing them, but then she brings Ebyn back from the dead, only to be turned, by him, into a vampire. Sorta defeats the purpose. I mean at the end of movie number one at sunrise, Ebyn turns to ashes and blowes away in the wind. There is no body. Plus, it makes his sacafice in vain and everything she had done to stop them sensless.
Yes like in twighlight newborns are very fast and strong then powers tone down and grow with age. The vampirism in this universe (30 days if night) is more like a virus that changes the chemical makeup of the infected giving them enhanced abilities but also enhanced deadly weaknesses. they are not dead in this movie only infected with a parasite so any infected would have just as good a chance to stand against another no different then humans @2b248
I've seen boxers walk into a good jab but that was the worst that I've ever seen. That jab gave him something to think about and took it away at the same time... Put something on his mind and took it off in 1 second 😆
So I’m assuming that all the other vampires didn’t find a place to hide from the sun and burst into flames or were they allowed to roam the earth as if they weren’t a problem for the rest of humanity.
Evan was such a alpha male. He had to do what he had to do and he was the only one with the balls to infect himself and literally walk up to the whole fucking group of vampires. I would of been shitting myself cause he got lucky and his powers kicked in at the right moment.
The real question is why are the vampires still there when the sun is about to come up? They had 30 days to get their business done, no sense in hanging around until the very last moment.
Because he just killed their leader punching through his skull. He was holding his fist like he was ready to do it again. They didn't want none. He was the leader because he was the strongest and smartest.
Never liked this film. It revels in demonic imagery and subtext without any sort of genuine, heroic figure or counterbalance. It lacks a "Van Helsing"-archetype, one that fights the vampiric threat with Holy icons and experience. That itself isn't a big issue given the remote setting of the film, but none of the characters end up fulfilling that role. The vampires are vanquished not because the main character finds his faith, but by...becoming a vampire himself. So there is no resolution, Goodness has not triumphed and the vampires ultimately survive and persist. A disturbing and borderline nihilistic film to say the least.
One of the best vampire movies ever
