    Good video. As a Suzuki mechanic from sweden i miss The diagnostic and The service reset. Next time let the gearoil rest turn the propeller and top up. I spend 2,5 h on the first service to check that the engine is ok.

    @johnweisskopf8274 Год назад +5

    I could be wrong, but I believe the Suzuki service manual has you wait a few minutes after you see oil come out the oil level whole, then spin the prop a few times, then push some more oil in until it comes out the oil level hole again. The extra few ounces I’m sure is insignificant but take it for what it’s worth.

    Good video. Contrary to what everyone seems to think, Amazon is expensive, and is notorious for counterfeit. My boat dealer put on a big aftermarket Yamaha spin water separator fuel filter and told me to religiously change it every season. I have since learned that most of the boat dealers here put them on every boat they sell.

    Also, when you bolted that fin on your lower unit, it didn’t mess with your warranty through Suzuki? I had just heard back in the day if you bolted something on like that on a Yamaha, and had to drill holes in it to instal, it would void your warranty. You know anything about that?

    • @bayoubanditcharters

    Thorough, very clear instructional video - thank you! Did you perhaps discuss doing your own service with your dealer? I'm wondering whether it might put the warranty at risk at the (U.S.) distributor level where major warranty coverage has to be reviewed. Good luck on the charters this year!

    What oil did you use for break in. Just put a df40 on my runabout and am conflicted. I am a factory recommendation type guy, but thought a conventional should be used for breaking in motors. It may be an older way of doing it, I am new to modern 4 stroke fuel injected outboards. I'm an electrician not a mechanic.

    • @bayoubanditcharters
      @bayoubanditcharters  Год назад +1

    • @ericnortan9012
      @ericnortan9012 Год назад

      @@bayoubanditcharters ya, that's what I figured. From all their literature I've seen they don't say anything about using conventional for break in, and I like to stick to factory recommendations. Awesome Suzuki vids, though your motor is a bit different than mine they are similar enough to show me what I need to do for basic service. I'm gonna check out your fishing stuff. We love fishing up here, pike, trout, smallies, walleye, etc. You know Northern fish. We used to catch flounder and sea trout (i think they called them speckled trout) down in NC when I was a Marine, so I am a bit familiar with what your after. Thanks.
