Hi Scott, Thanks for the in-depth review, being a P. Mauriat horn player for number of years myself (66R DL Tenor 6 years, System 76R GL Alto 4 years, 66UL Tenor, 3 years) I fell in love with the sound and playability when I started college for saxophone 15 years ago. Yes they have had some minor ware on the lacquer and I have had the pearls replaces on my 66DL Tenor after 4-5 years since it was starting to feel really rough. I traded my 66R for the 66UL and the sound was even better.
You're welcome and thanks for your feedback. I haven't had a 66 in the shop for awhile, but I'm looking forward to getting one in to do a review on it. Thanks for watching! Scott
Hi Gabriel! Thanks for the kind words. I’ve heard great things about the 66RUL’s. Does yours have a high F# key? I really enjoyed playing the 76. Hopefully I get a 66 in soon. Thanks for watching! Scott
Saludos
Thank you! I play a keilwerth stencil Bari from the 1970s and I have an alto probably from the same time frame but it needs an overhaul. I’m looking for a nice Couf tenor that’s of course very similar to a SX90r. I need to review my bari. It’s one of the best baris I’ve ever played! Thanks for watching, Scott
Hey Scott, thanks for the review. I had read good feedback (anecdotally) from P. Mauriat owners, but it's good to get a professional's perspective. Looking forward to more horn reviews....and to see where the various horns stack up in your scoring system. 🎷👍
@@loutwo5099will do! I get quite a bit of stuff in the shop so I’ll do reviews as they come in. I’m looking for a cheap Chinese sax to compare and review.
I actually own a soprano and have played a Pro One tenor. They’re both really great saxophones. I didn’t get to play them side by side but I was really impressed by the Pro One. I also really like my soprano but one thing on the soprano is the keys are really soft and easy to bend.
@@Scottsmusiccave They appeared to be a great deal on the market, but their sound wasn't as nice as professional Mauriats I think. Do they have less resistance than the Mauriats due to larger bore? I don't know why Mauriat 66 is more popular in the states compared to the 76, if you personally think 66 is the better horn compared to 76?

Awesome review. Looking forward to a Keilwerth review, if you have any.

@@Scottsmusiccave Maybe reviewing some of the other current Taiwanese-made horns for the benefit of the new sax buyers out there? 🤔

Thanks for the video! I really enjoyed it.

I want to get the P. Mauriat System 76 tenor saxophone. I love the large bell. It has a big sound.
They’re great saxophones. If I wasn’t a vintage sax guy it would be one I’d consider playing. Thanks for watching!
Good morning bro l live in Guyana South America. I have a question do these insts have adjustment screws on the right and left hand stacks.
No adjustment screws on the stacks. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching! Scott
Do you have any experience with Antiguas?
I always wondered how would Pro One or Powerbell compared to P.Mauriats.
