Excellent demonstration. I am in middle of my dissertation and wanted to visualize this. Greatly explained

    Great! Ty!
Did you happen to mention the pressure and volume of media required, and I missed it?

It's very thoroughly understanding of fluidised Bed flow concept. As per Engineering Experimentation, understanding the basic laws of fluid density, flow pattern, bubbling phenomenon, Bed particle with variation in size, measuring equipment with Good clarity of video.Really Appreciable, the Experimentation procedure for new students of Engineering/PG/PhD.also.
    Thanks.

Such a great video to illustrate the phenomena! How do you ensure the inlet air is homogeneously introduced?

Very good setup to understand the behavior of fluidization on solids. I would appreciate an explanation on how to calculate the air flow rate needed given a large square area holding the solids. Thank you in advance for enlighting us.

Would there be a difference in fluid characteristics if a vacuum was applied to the top of the tube rather than pressurised air at the base?

Air flow from the base of the container is still necessary for fluidization to occur, so as long as that requirement is met, I don't see why not. However, the pressurized air at the base is used because we can control this flow rate with higher precision.

The absolute pressure does not matter, but as @clayton it is the flow created by a pressure difference. This balances the bed weight (in the expanded bed regime).

This is such a stupid question
