The one thing i love about Kurt's vlogs, other than the authenticity, is that he gives details on this history of the places he visits. It gives appreciation for the places he visits even more
After giving it some thought, I think it's the balance that does it for me and brings me back. His videos have a little bit of everything- things that you mentioned as well as some thrill, mystery, random facts, genuine local people interactions, and so on. I like that he touches up on most of the major aspects of life in the places he visits- jobs, living conditions at homes, cuisines, and what the locals do for fun- including participating in some.
Man he could have had some great wife’s already , that Brazilian woman was awesome she loved cooking , cleaning and dancing for him she would have been the perfect wife iff u ask me .
My partner of 10 years is from Venezuela. She talks about the best of times growing up and the absolute tragedy of what has since transpired. She now lives happily and safely with me in Victoria, Australia. I would love someday for some sense of normal to return to this beautiful country as I would love to experience it with her as she remembers it!
My wife is Dominican of Venezuelan heritage, she still ahs family members in Maracaibo and says things have improved there but it is still difficult to get some things. My mom grew up in Maracaibo and even though we live here in Venezuela she has not been there in a long while. She was shocked when I showed her this, especially because she grew up in the 60s and 70s when Maracaibo was one of the main Petroleum extraction hubs and wealth was a common theme in the place. Im young and Ive gone to many ,many places in the country during recent years (Venezuela has been in a state of disrepair for quite some time now) and Ive seen places deteriorate to a state where they are barely recognizable from what they used to be; yet still this video shocks me, it seems Maracaibo has felt especially hard what the country has gone through in the last 2 decades, especially last 10 years. I think ill visit Maracaibo soon so I can see it with my own eyes, I can only hope some day in the future I will be able to see something that even slightly resembles what places like Maracaibo were in its golden age. It´s sad ive only seen the country go downhill ever since I gained consciousness as a child.
I am currently living in Maracaibo while some things are true other might not be the case: - it was a cloudy/rainy day so usually taxis and cars avoid going out due to puddles, it's extremely common when we just had a rain taxis are not available, most people in plaza go out at evening, not at the middle of the day. - Maracaibo is a badly designed city, it was made for cars not for people, I never heard someone in the past of walking from the center of the city to let's say Plaza de la republica, unless you are forced to. - Some shops closed early probably due being a rainy day ( mostly because transportation is so bad they are afraid no buses/taxis are available due rain) - The city is not definitely what it used to be, but in some parts is really popular specially at night. - Funny enough some of the places he visited even for a local were extremely dangerous to go around 10 years ago, so he wouldn't be able to visit even if they were back then full of "life"

You should be very careful with criminals in Maracaibo, they tend to be very aggresive and dangerous. I actually had a bit of anxiety watching your video. Do not trust the Police or the National guard will be keeping you safe either. They are rats and can even blackmail you. I am talking from personal experience here. Please be safe!

I am venezuelan but living in Canada. I wish you had the opportunity to visit my country before the dictatorship. It was prosperous and more exciting, especially with more international flights ( americans and europeans ) . Margarita Island was extremely busy with tourists and my city Puerto La Cruz /Lecheria in the main land. The natural beauty is still there ( beaches , mountains , weather , rivers, and islands ). My dad used to fly to Caracas when he was an airline pilot for Delta Airlines in the 1970s.He loved it,he would stay at the Humboldt Hotel in Caracas.I have always wanted to go to Venezuela.Naw that it is safer,I hope one day I can get a Visa to go there.Unfortunately my government doesn't get along with their government (I am a USA citizen),but if it becomes feasible, I will go there one day.Tourism can help a place recover. My parents lived in Mariciabo 30 years ago. my father worked there in the oil business, setting up a machine repair company for the locals to take over. I visited during their stay, it was bustling and busy, it looks so different. Wow I am shocked. Such a shame. Great video, thanks for sharing.

I’m from Canada and went to Margarita Island 16 years ago for my honeymoon. We stayed a Dunes Resort for 2 weeks. It was a fabulous time.

You should be very careful with criminals in Maracaibo, they tend to be very aggresive and dangerous. I actually had a bit of anxiety watching your video.

I am venezuelan but living in Canada. I wish you had the opportunity to visit my country before the dictatorship. It was prosperous and more exciting, especially with more international flights ( americans and europeans ) . Margarita Island was extremely busy with tourists and my city Puerto La Cruz /Lecheria in the main land. The natural beauty is still there ( beaches , mountains , weather , rivers, and islands ). I hope you can visit one day. Take care and safe travels!🇻🇪🇨🇦

My dad used to fly to Caracas when he was an airline pilot for Delta Airlines in the 1970s.He loved it,he would stay at the Humboldt Hotel in Caracas.I have always wanted to go to Venezuela.Naw that it is safer,I hope one day I can get a Visa to go there.Unfortunately my government doesn't get along with their government (I am a USA citizen),but if it becomes feasible, I will go there one day.Tourism can help a place recover. I have witnessed this first hand after Hurricane Katrina devastated so much of my region and state(Louisiana).

My parents lived in Mariciabo 30 years ago. my father worked there in the oil business, setting up a machine repair company for the locals to take over. I visited during their stay, it was bustling and busy, it looks so different. Wow I am shocked. Such a shame. Great video, thanks for sharing.

Of all the places Kurt travels, South Americans always seem to be the friendliest, most cheerful and welcoming people. A far cry from the image painted of these countries. I'd love to visit some of these countries someday.
