Great video. I had that sensor go out on my 1994- Cat 3406E model back in 2010 just a few months after I had a complete out of frame overhaul done. was loading grain under the spout had one pile in trailer & was to move to rear hopper & she just quit. Had no idea what it was. couldn't get it to start. Ended up having towed to a shop thinking was a serious problem & all it was this timing sensor. If I'd had known that I would have had a new one put on when I overhauled the motor. I was good for putting things on before it needed it as a prevention of a breakdown & loss of time. Time is Money.

Hey man happy new year! Thank you for taking us along on this; today I learned that a Cat oil cooler is just about the right size to be a model steam engine boiler... 🤔
Seeing how much more stout the injector valve train parts than the engine valves tells me they take some serious force to push that fuel into the motor. Wild. 🍻
Very interesting to see that there are no retaining clips on the piston pin and I'm guessing the concave surface is so it just doesn't marr the sleeve with an edge.
Don’t know how many miles that engine had done but saying it was in pretty good condition must be the most understated statement of the year, that engine had very little wear anywhere and could probably have been rebuilt using new piston rings and Crank Bearings and a light cylinder hone to bed the new rings in and yes I’ve been rebuilding Diesel engines for the last 50years.
I wish I could give you an answer about the stupidly tightened oil filter. I've worked at a couple lube centers, and a Goodyear and an NTB store over the years, done thousands of oil changes and out of those probably 3-4 dozen times had to spend 30+ minutes getting overly torqued filters off. Some of them were in super tight spots as you can imagine. One was easy to get to but so tight I had to cut the filter off at the base, then use a punch sideways with a hammer to get it to start turning. That was after doing like you did with a big pry bar hammered through the body but it just ripped the metal off.
I've owned 4 CAT diesels. 3406B OT-4444 arraignment setting 400hp. a 5EK 3406-435hp. a 2WS 3406 550hp and currently a 1LW 3406E 550hp. All were great engines. The B model 400 was the hottest one
