One day The Deepmind will get the respect it is long due.
I picked up the deepmind 6 because I thought it would be small, and it turned out to be super heavy and larger than I thought. I decided to try the minilogue xd for the portability factor as it’s smaller and lighter, but for whatever reason I keep finding myself coming back to the deepmind! The sounds are so rich, lush, and heavy. Also the larger keys, two additional voices, and sound design operation offer so much control thanks to the interface.
Cool to read itsahsah! - Would love to compare it to an Minilogue XD some day...
Turning down the fan-speed also lowered the noise-floor in the signal. Not sure why but it worked @solidtrax
I CANT THANK YOU ENOUGH, ive had my D6 for a couple of years now and always thought the noise was an issue with my specific unit. I lowered the speed from 64 to 40 and now the sound is a lot cleaner. Cheers!
This and the 12 are Still the best bang to the buck synths, when it comes to sound and features for the price. 6 to 12 voices of polyphony, The Mod matrix, Arpeggiator, Fx section are extensive, the oscillators and filters sounds good. The key-bed and buildquality is also quite good, except for the wobbly sliders and it being a bit noisy. I think the digital counterpart to this would be the Waldorf Blofeld. You get a ridiculous amount of synth for the money with these and at a price that would be unthinkable just some years prior to its release.
Interesting synth!
the loopable envelope is a godsent. ^_^ Especially for pads.
“Borrowed for a year” is a funny phrase.
Nice!
Great synth! great Demo!
Thanks Dirty1200!
A minor point is Polytechnic 6 while the deep mind 12 has 12 I find theses synths very good, true analog but digital controlled so no patch cables 😀
Thanks for your message and stopping by!
Where the 6 is good, the twelve is pure luxury if you ask me, but indeed, it saves patches, so no need to make photographs of the 'old school patch' ;-)
@@SolidtraxNL A synthesizer can add DSP effects to sounds . This means moire polyphony. and combining sounds also. My Yamaha PSR 9000 has polyphony of 126 but if I add things it drops to 40 so polyphony depends on what sort of sounds You create. And the Yamaha psr 9000 has two 32 bit processors and 4 DSP's so many voices are needed..
I have one of those. 😊
Cool!
I already have a tr-8s drum machine, key step 37 and now I want to add a synth to the setup. Can’t choose between Roland JU-06a, Deepmind 6 or Deepmind 12D. Just want to make some 80’s synth pop. Nothing to “deep” :-)
With regards to the first question, all are excellent synths, so it depends on your budget, your interaction/feel with the instrument and the way you think it sounds. The DeepMind has some more tricks up its sleeve and the JU-06a is probably more hands on for you, but since you already have a key step 37, we would go for the 12D, since 12 voices polyphony is really a treat :-)
Hello, I have the TR-8S, a Novation Bass Station II (Mono), and the Deepmind 12 (Poly). I highly recommend the Deepmind 12. Every single time I create my own patches on the Deepmind 12 I feel like I get my money's worth. I would get it, and devote 3-4 hours watching tutorials and patch ideas on the mod Matrix. The sky's the limit. It's a great instrument.
Has it stereo outputs?
Thanks for stopping by João, yes it does!
hi. should i buy this synth or the roland ju06a? thanks
Hi Marco,
Great question, but also very difficult if you ask us. Long story short - play and listen to both synthesizers if these are on your shortlist and ask yourself these questions: Does it sound different than the synths I already have? How is the interaction between me and the instrument? Do I like the sounds? Etc.
It's difficult to compare them since the JU06A has 4 voices of polyphony and the DeepMind has either 6 or 12 depending on the model you are buying. The latter has 4 effect processors which can be routed in 10 different ways, plus they are sounding really good if you ask us. But if your space is limited or if you would like to use it in a park or you travel a lot + gigs etc, we should take the Roland, since it is very compact and can run on batteries. If you have some more space, have a look at the Behringer as well and remember both synths have there pros and cons.
@@SolidtraxNL thanks very much for your reply.
@@marcoagius6926 You are welcome.
This!
HI! DOES THE DEEPMIND NEEDS A WARMUP THE OSSILATORS BEFORE PLAYING IT DUE BECAUSE ITS ANALOG? THANKS
Hi, not really. But if you have tuning issues check this (from the manual)
21.10 The synthesizer sounds out of tune:
Check the PITCH PARAMETERS page of the POLY EDIT menu, and look at the
settings for TRANSPOSE and GLOBAL-TUNE.
Perform the voice calibration routine found in the GLOBAL-SYSTEM SETTINGSCALIBRATE menu.
@@SolidtraxNL okay thanks for your reply
@@marcoagius6926 You are welcome!
Hi! i just bought the deepmind 6 and i noticed that when i scroll through the preset patches, a few of them start playing without touching the keybed. is there a setting in the menu to stop this from happening? thanks
Hi Marco, congratulations! Not sure, but it could be that some of the patches have the hold button on the left hand side activated? It could be that sequences or arpeggiated sounds play if it receives a clock signal. Hope this helps.
@@SolidtraxNL that’s what it is ..
Thank you for the great video!!!
I'm looking to buy my first hardware synth and I am not sure which one to get...
I know asking for advice is really hard as everyone has their own preferences and needs. I am between the DeepMind 6 and the Korg Minilogue XD. My main idea is to start learning how to use analogue synths, and I'd like to use them mostly for lead sounds and pads (which can be limited with just 4 voices in the Minilogue).
What would you guys do? Is there any advice or any other option that you would consider around those price ranges?
Thank you so much in advance!
Great question Juanpa, but also very difficult if you ask us. Long story short - play and listen to both synthesizers in a store if you have the chance. Now ask yourself these questions: How is the interaction between me and the instrument? i.e. do I connect with intrument right away? Do I like the sound of the raw oscillators, the filter(s)? Etc.
It's difficult to compare them since the minilogue has 4 voices, but three oscillators and the DeepMind6 has 6 voices of polyphony, but 2 oscillators. You can trick into kind of 4 with the pitchshifter effect - but that is called cheating ;-) Both have effects, but you can't deny that the Behringer is a bit better equipped in this department. It has 4 effect processors which can be routed in 10 different ways, plus they are sounding really good if you ask us. But if your space is limited or if you would like to use it in a park or you travel a lot + gigs etc, we would take the Korg, since it is very compact and light. If you have some more space, have a look at the Behringer as well and please remember both synths have there pros and cons.
Thank you so much for the detailed answer! I think I’ll go with the deepmind!!! There’s always time to save more and keep buying synths, right? Hahah
@@pambilia You are welcome, and thanks for your kind comments!
Funny I just wrote this comment but will paste here for you: I picked up the deepmind 6 because I thought it would be small, and it turned out to be super heavy and larger than I thought. If I could go back and had more desk space I probably would go deepmind 12, but I just can’t imagine it fitting on my desk with how tight the 6 is already.
@@itsahsah thank you so much for pasting it here for me!!! That is awesome!! I’m completely decided to get the Deepmind 6 then! Can’t wait to order it!!!
Dude I can’t find a video that explains how to fully use it! It’s driving me crazy lol
Hi Logan, have a look at the excellent @loopop channel here: ruclips.net/video/So8B6HJ2chQ/видео.html
any advice on choosing between Deepmind 6 vs Deepmind 12?
Well, both are great! Apart from the size, price and the keybed size difference, we would recommend the 12 voice. 6 voices of the DM6 is ofcourse OK for most cases, but for pad sounds, 12 voices (with some unison) is just way more convenient. You won't get as much 'stealed notes' as on the DM6. So if your budget allows it, definitely pick up the DM12.
HOW MANY PRESETS IT HAS??
A lot. 8 banks of 128!
@@SolidtraxNL i'm sorry..factory presets??Or user presets?
@@booyobambooyo2563 You can wipe all the presets of the DeepMind if you want to, so its up to you. By default - we believe - they are filled up almost all. Perhaps the last bank has a few init patches free. Not sure tbh.
Sidenote: Our preset pack 'Analog History' has 84 patches for it that will load in bank H by default.
I know a synth can be a lot of fun , but you're doing an awful lot of tweaking and not a lot of sound ??? Some of your sentences go up, then off before I can read em.. I have no idea what you're doing..
Sorry to read it doesn't work for you 'right out the box' and thanks for stopping by. Perhaps it will if you try using the pause button. We tried to put it really much into this small video.
