One of the most important concerts in Metal/Rock history
why?
@@Woody_Johnson It says "Moscow 1991," so it was right before the fall of the Soviet Union & end of the Cold War, so this was prob the first big American band to play in Russia, possibly the first big rock/metal concert over there too
Woody Johnson it was right after the Soviet Union falling which showed signs of peace between the US and Russia and a more free world being a concert like this could happen in a previously dictorial land. It was also one of the largest rock and metal concerts ever that spread the genre to many people who’ve never heard of it before. It was most likely the last rock and metal concert of this size to ever happen too
Bcs it was biggest Monsters Of Rock and Metal festival in history... over 1,5 Mil. people and it was just great show...

Metallica Metallica Aug. 12, 1991.. this album was only about 2 months out when they played this song. Unbelievable looking back on it now.

God i miss the Lars of this era....clean drumming, no china cymbal blast, and double bass everywhere!
♥ Best lars is 1986-1995. Being 94 and 95 the downfall.. If you look at Cunning Stunts he still got it! The Kill Ride medley was brutal.
And he had an actual snare, not pots and pans.
Lars was my favorite drummer in his prime and this concert is a great example of how good he was !!! His self taught clean style and the awesome sound of his drums made you want to play drums....not to mention his energy and intensity !!! He beat those drums like they owed him money. The "Justice" and "Black" album's drumming sounds amazing in my opinion. The drums sound like they are in your living room !!! Easily my favorite drummer.
That wasn't clean, damn sure not his best either..
@@brianrader221 ok 👌🏼

always one of the most underrated metal bassists ever. the guy is a true professional to his craft.
@D. Rüesch i think Cliff Burton was much much better
@@Oldboy-jq8xf comparing the two bassists is not really fair. They both made significant contributions to the band. Which would you rather do without: Kill em, Lightning, and Puppets, or Justice and the Black Album? Cliff helped make the band as popular as it was, and Jason was about to carry that torch IMO.
Sorry cant hear him lars is present there
Oldboy 2017 Cliff was an anomaly, and unfortunately we all had to miss growing into the respected veteran musician he could’ve become. I don’t think Jason ever had Cliff’s improv chops, but Jason’s musicianship is second to none. He viewed his role differently than Cliff did, but he was a professional and a solid contributor to that band. As is Trujillo. Metallica has always picked the right bassist for their band lol

Then you almost on par with kirk. What a horrible performance by him over here. Jesus, James sounds amazing, but kirk is pulling the whole band down.
He was probably nervous to play front of so many people(s)! 🤷♂️
Most of these song are actually pretty easy, try looking at some early megadeth stuff, or any megadeth stuff...
@Yl53 L94 true Kirk is a shy person and James he was a shy person
The main difficulty of Metallica songs is the sheer endurance required. Stuff like creeping death, master of puppets, etc. are not only VERY fast but are also played without many breaks until the bridges. The left hand techniques are not as demanding but the right hand is in hell lol
The energy from this concert was immense
Seeing the soldiers reactions to the opening of One is pretty crazy
Poor soldiers, ahahahahahahahah!!
It must’ve been a crazy time for them. Knowing that the system that they’re technically fighting for, or prepared to fight for, is about to crumble to the ground. I wonder what the overall morale was around the soldiers at that time? Were they excited for new change? Were they afraid of the unknown that I’m sure they were definitely feeling was inevitable? Reminds me ancient empires you read about in history books, but that actually happened during our era. Kinda crazy too, that things like that are sure to occur again. Either in our lifetime, or way into the future. Makes me feel small and insignificant compared to the history and future of mankind...
