Woody Johnson it was right after the Soviet Union falling which showed signs of peace between the US and Russia and a more free world being a concert like this could happen in a previously dictorial land. It was also one of the largest rock and metal concerts ever that spread the genre to many people who’ve never heard of it before. It was most likely the last rock and metal concert of this size to ever happen too

I wonder what the overall morale was around the soldiers at that time? Were they excited for new change? Were they afraid of the unknown that I’m sure they were definitely feeling was inevitable? Reminds me ancient empires you read about in history books, but that actually happened during our era. Kinda crazy too, that things like that are sure to occur again. They gotta be in some insane shape I’m an hour in at “one” and the drummer is still going hard. The guitarist fingers are going 100 mph. This is insane. You can tell they are tired but still doing so much! I’m surprised his voice hasn’t gave out. That’s more than talent

I'm not sure if you play yourself, but also consider that they (James and Jason) play the majority of their riffs via down picking which makes it even more impressive

Jason added so much to Creeping Death live. Don’t get me wrong I love Robert and I think he’s a great bass player and I’m happy he’s in Metallica but I really loved what Jason added to them live.

This sounds incredible. I feel for James, he is one tortured soul clearly battling inner demons. Many great metal songs are born out of inner pain and struggle... it adds to the haunting melancholy.

Lauro Torres This was after the dissolution of the Soviet Union when Mikael Gorbachev was leader, so 1991 (this gig) Soviet Union was already broken buddy. They would not have been allowed to play if the USSR was still active.
