I just recently got a 4month old veiled from petco and comes to find out he had the beginning stages of MDS 😓 but I still kept him no reason to take him back but the vet said there’s a chance we could turn it around he has another appointment here soon so I’m hoping the work I’ve been doing with him shows 🤞🏼
I saw my veiled drink out a water 2 different times before I bought him. He was probably forced to adapt due to being in the wrong enclosure and not being misted off.
I grew up rescuing reptiles and rehoming them, came across a 6 ft rose tail python to flying geckos and 5 ft monitors I'd walk on a leash. Just rescued my first veiled chameleons and your video or so helpful y and spot on with my books I got. Really appreciate you spreading knowledge of what it really means to own these pets.
I’m always watching videos on veiled chameleons just in case I don’t know something. So far I have everything down. I wanna do the best I can for my little buddy.
You guys should be doing your own research as well. RUclips videos are great information. But truly they are not everything you need. I would not recommend getting an animal and being ready for only based on youtube videos
I saved one from a crackhead today while I was already planning on getting a panther chameleon but this one fell in my lap so I’m gonna give her a good life
Thank you for being that person and choosing the one that you didn't want, for the sake of what the animal deserves. The world needs more people like you, I hope she is doing well
Katiusca Crack head walks into my liquor store using a very stressed, dehydrated chameleon as a yo-yo told him to let me see the lizard then told him to piss off. I ended up with a dying veiled chameleon that my employee built a nice screen cage for and the next day I bought all the lights and dowels. She passed away recently though noticed she had started to slow down took her to the vet and they said she was just old 🤷🏻♂️
I think it’s strange my chameleon actually drinks off of a water bowl. When I first got him I bought my chameleon a dropper but than realized that he never used it, and at the bottom of his cage he had a little pond of water for decoration and it turned out the decoration became his primary source of water
They are some really cool looking animals I love the way their eyes move around and they are very colorful really cool looking thanks for sharing I’ve always loved them always thought they were awesome🥰💕
how long did it take for you to tame him and get him to earn your trust? I know this can be different for every animal on the planet, but I am just curious. (((:
As a baby he was always very good motivated, which was extremely helpful. After about 2 years he just started wanting to come out on his own and just sees me as the desired tree to climb on.
My Veiled absolutely will eat Pothos or Philodendrons. I replace them every two-three months with the same kind and kind of just keep this going. The ones I take out I place in the window to recover. He will take Maybe 6-8 chomps per month. Single bites. His mouth bite is so cute
I just want people to know that I work at Petsmart and here is why you should buy from us: - If you think there is anything wrong with your pet (no veterinarian note needed)you can bring them back and we will take them to a vet and keep them in our icu until they are better (free of charge ofc). If the pet happens to pass away in our care which happens on very rare occasion you can get a new pet (free of charge ofc) - we only sell to people who are educated on the animal and have the proper enclosure already set up before purchasing their new pet (only people 18+ can purchase unless accompanied by parent/legal guardian) - we educate every customer on the danger of their pet (ex. Diseases they can pass, if they can become aggressive, if they are safe around kids etc.) - if you have any questions of basic care of an animal ur interested in purchasing we have pet care managers and/or reptile specialists on our team - many pet care workers at Petsmart work in zoos/ have a passion for animals as well so they are constantly learning more about pets and pet care
Well my bud stopped growing a lot and i just feel like he's too small. I fed him every day until he was one year old. Then i started feeding him every 2-3 days, now he's 2 years old and he's maybe twice smaller than your friend. I dont know if i have too feed him more or its just too late and i screwed up
My baby veiled chameleon is letting his little crickets die at the bottom. He hasn't eaten the meal worms or wax worms. If I put the crickets on my arm they'll jump off. So far, he hasn't eaten out of my hand. I put a meal worm in his face but he just backed up ha. I just wanna make sure he's eating or drinking. When I spray the enclosure he walks away like to hide, I think maybe the water is hitting him? Is that okay? He seems to not like it lol. How do you get calcium on the live crickets? I just open the bag and shake a few live ones out, cuz I leave them in a bag in a box with their own food and water. Thanks for the video!! I have seen him eat a couple crickets, but that's all I've seen, myself. I'm hoping he's eating some when I don't look too.

Loved your video. It was very informative. I’m researching veiled chameleons because I def want one but want to be sure I take care of it properly. Regarding the cage, what dimensions do you think I should get for a full sized one like yours?

I have been thinking of getting a chameleon! I do live in Florida. And I have a screened in pool area. If I housed the chameleon in his own enclosure on the screened in back porch area, would I need the UVB light? Also, would I be too hot? Would it be okay to have one outside during warm months and bring inside during cold months? Hope to hear from you! Thanks! You’re videos are very informative. It’s great! I’ve watched a few and yours are the best I’ve seen so far!
I am going to get veiled chameleon for christmas and its going to be my first chameleon i am kinda scared that i will give him bad care even though i will stay in contact with the breeder and i am watching a lot of videos
Hi! I have some questions. I am buying a veiled chameleon soon, are male’s grumpy and hard to take care of? Because I know my friend and my mom’s friend got a male veiled chameleon and he died pretty early, but I had a female and she lived for a while. Also, the store I am buying from, it has a water bowl in the cage, and the baby veiled chameleon drank from the water bowl, so does that mean it’s ok to keep a water bowl in the cage just in case he tries to drink from it? I also know geckos also drink or eat from a bowl that is suction cup on the wall can you use that to put their veggies in. Because I know my last chameleon did not like to be on the ground. Thank you for reading my comment. I you did read it can you please answer all or a few of my questions? Thanks.
I’ve had my male veiled chameleon for about 7 months now. He’s fully grown and I would love to handle him. I’ve tried to hand feed him and he either hisses at me really bad or runs off. If you have any other tricks please let me know. Also, how much do you feed yours? Mine only eats once a day. Thanks !
My veiled has been acting a little strange lately, I don't know if I should be worried. Do you think I could discuss it with you and maybe you could give me some advice??
One thing I would add. The gender isn’t necessarily determined by their large crest on their head. Most of the time the males do have bigger crests but the 1 for sure gender identifying factor is the males have extra tiny little claw on the backs of their rear feet. I would not buy from pets mart like you said. When I bought my first female they told me it was a male and they didn’t even know about the essential vitamins they need along with their food to protect them from MBD. You are the most knowledgeable person I’ve seen so far though I’ve only seen this video. You’ve been the most accurate I’d say
I got my chameleon at Petco so I got a kit where it came with the home and the heating bulb and the light bulb and she was turning dark and almost black with stripes then she would climb to the top and turn really green like normal so I’m thinking that it need more humidity or heat or something do you know what could help
Do you use a heat lamp for bamba at night and if so what would you prefer the temperature to be? Your chameleon is really looking healthy and I really want one myself but I want to be 100% sure what to do for my chameleon and be sure how to care for one before anything and I’ve been doing tons of research and your channel has been so helpful with that and I thank you so much and I love your videos and I hope you make more on bamba he is so adorable and I would love to learn so much more from your videos
My veiled chameleon should get here in 2 days ,I'm still a bit cobfused about lighting. I have the joint tropical uvb light and heat lamp ,do I leave them both on when I'm gone during the day? Or just the heat ?
Hello i absolutely love watching your videos they are extremely helpful... I just got a veiled chameleon. He is about a year old... He keeps rubbing his head on me it is shedding so is he just doing that to get the shed off?
Reptilian Garden it's actually extremely cute... I have only had him since Sunday, so if he trust me already I'm totally okay with it... Thank you for your input!

I really want to make sure I do it right for my first time before anything so I been researching for a month now but I would really love to know the name of your book and to read it so if you have time to let me know how to find it please do I enjoyed watching this video and I would love to learn more ❤️
will they be helpful in the garden? I get too many insects and was thinking to get a pet that eats them, I suppose my concern is they can't eat it from the cage unless something flies in, and if I let one walk around I assume they will step and destroy whats growing ? I grow cannabis and can only imagine one of those things trying to climb up this plant and break it. Or maybe you could suggest some other reptilian ? it's strange when I lived in FL we had mosquito infestation, so did we have mini lizards all over the place. In CA no mosquitos no lizards, but then all kinds of other annoying bugs. So I think we need some good lizard population to keep these nasty things away, I haven't seen a single lizard in 3 years in Southern CA.
Encouraging Growth with Kelsey L Hold him by the butt. 😅 then the cricket will still move around to get the chameleons attention, but it won’t go anywhere
@@reptiliangarden thanks lol... I just got my crestie out for the first time today (I've just been petting him for a month everyday) and he crawled on me for a few minutes and then I put him back.. do you think my crestie would eat a cricket from my hand to gain trust the same way?
Before they grow you can distinguish male from female because males have an extra "claw" (it's not a claw but I don't know how to say it in english) in the back legs.
I had some problems I bought one in December probably about a month old from PetSmart she looked good she looked healthy I had her December 22nd she died April 5th of something she just stopped eating stop drinking went to the bottom of the cage and stopped moving just gave up got no clue why she has everything she would have ever needed and she still died I'm thinking about starting with an egg this time
No, Chameleons are solitary animals and do not do well with other animals including their own species. They will eventually fight for territory and this will stress them out very much and stress is not good for them. Could cause illness to your chameleon
My ambilobe panther chameleon, Newman Picasso, has one of the worst tongue aims i've ever seen a chameleon. I've had him since April 27th. He's been that way ever since we brought him home. At times, he does make successful shots with his tongue, but most of the time, he misses. This is why i always hand-feed him. At least when he shoots his tongue out at the leaves when we have the dripper going he actually manages to catch water. We also mist the cage 3 times a day. But about a month after we took him home, we started to see him drinking directly from his bowl that catches the drip! I know they generally don't recognize standing water so my family and i were amazed. We thought maybe he's found a better alternative to drinking water due to his bad tongue aim? We've seen him do this multiple times. The first time we ever saw him do this was when he climbed down from a branch to meet the bowl at the bottom of the cage. He looked up at the drops and looked down as they fell into the bowl. We figured he must've seen the ripple in the water. So then he bends down and sticks his tongue in the water to drink! When he finishes then we'll see him swallowing, and immediately he makes his way back up to his highest basking branch.
I'm sure you have already heard t hi before, but because you didnt mention it, I thought i'd let anyone reading comments know that the easiest way to see if the chameleon is male or female is to look at their back legs, and the males have a "spur" on the back of their feet, while the female's feet are smooth on the heel. Google images will probably illustrate this better than my words, I just thought i'd say something. Also, if you don't already, I highly reccomend you check out the Chameleon Breeder Podcast. It's got hundreds of episodes exploring husbandry of many different types of chameleons. It's pretty cool, you should check it out.

Thank you for all the info! Question on some vegetables: can they have spinach, arugula, broccoli, and/or wheat grass?
This is pretty late... but I've fed my female some arugula, and she seemed to like it.
Thank you so much for all the tips I’m sure my chameleon is going to be plus ultra after this thank you so much ! ☺️❤️

Are their any excellent Chameleon Breeders in FL, for Panther Chameleons?
FLChams.com
When your book is finished can you put a link?
Thank u so much this helped a lot with some chameleons I just got. I knew some of the info but this really helped clarify. ❤
What are the light fixture you ave called?
Honi Cat I recommend this one from Walmart www.walmart.com/ip/GE-Advantage-24in-Fluorescent-Direct-Wire-Light-Fixture-16690/44295116
How would you feel about one being housed with a four-year-old blue iguana
No, Chameleons are solitary animals and do not do well with other animals including their own species. They will eventually fight for territory and this will stress them out very much and stress is not good for them. Could cause illness to your chameleon
Wait did you say avoid kale? I've been using kale to gut load
😬definitely don’t use kale to gut load its way to acidic for the chameleon i would say use collet greens instead 😊
Can you tell me what he can eat plz
How much do they cost? He is stunning, such bright vibrant colors. Thanls for sharing Bamba with us🙄
ogfergi Thank you! They are usually about 40-60 dollars. Banba was 80.
does repti froggers work?
Trent H. Dragon Tamer Thank you! Yeah, I forgot to mention the spurs so thanks for adding it! And I’ll have to check that out!!! 💕
Anyone know where I can get a good uvb light?
Edit: one more question, how often do you mist their enclosures
3x a day or more
How old is your chameleon?he's quite large!
