Thank you very much for the very well done review. In my experience with the 7000i, 8000i and the 9xi, which also has the card system although in its new versions, the extra features that seemed most interesting to me are the multispot meter and the customization feature. I believe the Minolta multispot is based on the same functionality of the Olympus OM-4 and OM-4TI. A recurring problem that I see with both the Minolta 7000i and the 8000i and that I suggest you check before buying on the used market, is the viewfinder LCD that deteriorates over time and does not allow you to read it from the viewfinder.
No, these only take specially designed cards made by Minolta. There aren't too expensive so you probably wont have too much trouble finding them online
Thanks heaps for this video! I picked up a body today really cheap second hand and my girlfriend has a 28mm lens for it. A battery and a few cards of ebay will turn it into a really functioning camera. im much more excited about using it after seeing your video. Thanks again!
Appreciate the video. I am going backwards towards the SLR cameras as they are great learning machines. Give them to teenage kids and teach them. Even full MECHANICAL SLR cameras!
Hello! Thanks for this. I did watch it all, but was fiddling with my own at the same time and so may have missed - above the lens release button there is a small round black button. Is this the DOF preview button? Mine doesn't seem to do anything at all. Thanks.
Hello! I recently found my mother's old Minolta 7000i. However, she is no longer around and therefore cannot teach me how to use it. I was wondering how to remove the battery from the camera, as the one currently inside is probably the original and no longer working.
Unfortunately it's extremely hard to see what you are doing with the camera. You need to be considerably closer to whatever you are shooting the video on.
If there is no film in the camera, it isn't going to advance. Cameras with automatic loading systems like this one had sensors that detected whether you had a film loaded with its leader pulled out to the opposing reel.
It uses 35mm film in cartridges of 36 exposures. It is NOT a digital camera. It uses the A mount for lenses, the same as Sony Alpha cameras. Sony took Minolta over after Minolta had been fined $127 million for breaching Honeywell's patent for autofocus. I have one and it is a lovely camera. Try Butkus for an owner's manual
Thankyou for this! I have my grandfathers 7000i and now I can finally use it!

Had no idea how to use the camera before this video, thanks for the info
Did you do any research first? Just curious .
I for one did no research on this camera never have since there’s RUclips to do the research for me.
I've been playing with mine recently. I've also got the 7000 and the 505si. Love Minoltas - hate the flash mount.
Yes
Hi, i have a question. Only works with the specific Card of Minolta or we can use another type of SD Card?
No, these only take specially designed cards made by Minolta. There aren't too expensive so you probably wont have too much trouble finding them online

Bought one when it was released with the kit lens they did it with. Bought it on the tick and loved it for a while but ended up going back to Nikon

The 7000i didn't have a DOF preview button, but I can't yet remember what the button above the lens release did!
My 15 yr old pick this camera up today at en estate sale for $10.00. Trying to learn how to use it

I've also been wondering the same thing. There's no release button that's doing anything to remove the battery.
Hi I am having the same problem did you figure out how to open it
@@alvinmutiso use a simple coin to twist it and you will open the slot and be able to change the battery

My film advance is not working :/ OR is it normal for the auto film advance to not work when there is no film in the camera?

is that a SD card ?
Um, no!
Chris-s some kind of card slot
mike969696 some kind of card slot
Yup
No. It's Minolta's own unique program card slot.
can you film on this camera?
No. In the era of the film camera, equipment was designed to take EITHER stills or moving images and you couldn't make videos on stills cameras.
how many MP is this piece of shit camera
Did you study to be this stupid? It's a film camera, not a digital camera.
