Gram & Emmylou were deeply in love with each other; as was Linda with Lowell George (of LITTLE FEAT); both making such beautiful couples. Gram & Lowell both died tragically of drug overdoses leaving behind 2 broken hearts; oh the 'What Ifs' of life-----all 4 were so talented, gifted, highly intelligent; Gram & Lowell such gentlemen & Linda and Emmy such stunning beauties!!!
Gram Parsons was an incredible singer and songwriter who died way to soon at the age of 26 in 1973. He was a member of the Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers and really began the country-rock sound that was a big part of what many call the "California Sound".
Gram Parsons was the mentor, and possibly the only true love, of Emmylou Harris. Many of the songs she has written make reference to him. Check out Boulder to Birmingham, and Sweetheart of the Rodeo by Emmylou. It seems pretty clear that she never got over his early death.
Clint - This was a delightful submission from three great vocalists of their time. I have always considered Gram Parson to be woefully underrated. Bravo Clint and Harri!
Three of the finest singers ever. Gram Parsons was a gem of gems. The song is about the death of actor/singer Brandon de Wilde, who died in a car crash. Check out Brandon de Wilde with Paul Newman in the movie "Hud" and with Alan Ladd and Jack Palance in the movie "Shane". Check out Gram Parsons doing "Dark End of the Street." One of Gram's best efforts from this gifted singer. RIP Gram Parsons and Brandon de Wilde. Thanks Harri.
Great choice Clint. This is so beautiful. There’s a very sad and touching backstory of how Linda and Emmylou became close friends. Emmylou had just gotten settled into having Gram Parsons as her singing partner when he overdosed and died from heroin. Linda brought the grieving Emmylou to stay with her for awhile. Linda promoted Emmylou’s music and helped her to get back on her feet after the devastation of losing Gram. Emmylou credits Linda with helping to launch her solo career. Thanks Harri and Clint. 🌺✌️
Gram Parsons was the avatar of country rock, emerging from a latter day edition of the Byrds, where he pushed Roger McGuinn and Chris Hillman toward roots music before he left to form The Flying Burrito Brothers. Keith Richard was quite enamored of Gram's musical taste and wrote "Wild Horses" as a salute to Gram. Parsons fought addiction and may have accidentally OD'ed in 1973 at the young age of 26. Thanks Clint and Harri.
From the 1973," Grievous Angels" the 2nd and final album from Gram, released 4 months after his overdose death. Wonderful vocals by Gram, Linda and Emmy Lou making such a beautiful memory together. A glorious song that owes as much to gospel as to country music. Each verse dedicated to 3 friends of Grams who were recently departed not long before he did. The 3 verses and the haunting chorus featuring Linda joining on the heavenly harmonies, driven by the beautiful melody and instruments. Such weird irony in hearing Gram sing his own elegy. Hauntingly beautiful. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Clint. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
This was written as a tribute to Brandon DeWilde, an actor who died in a car accident, Clarence White guitar player who was hit by a car, and the 3rd person was purportedly his dealer.
Those harmonies!! It sounds like those three are an entire choir singing! Thank you for this beautiful song with 2 of my favorite female singers. Gram was possibly the only true love of Emmylou Harris. He was so good for her career, giving her a chance and the confidence to find her voice and shine for decades! Please, if you can, react to Emmylou and Willie Nelson singing an incredible song called "Gulf Coast Highway" - from her album "Duets." I'm not a huge fan of Willie, but in this ballad, his voice and harmonies with Emmylou will blow you away!! I'll make a donation for the request if I can figure out how do do it!
Gram Parsons died from a drug overdose in 1973...to fulfill Parsons' funeral wishes a couple of his friends stole his body from Los Angeles International Airport and in a borrowed hearse, they drove it to Joshua Tree. Upon reaching the Cap Rock section of the park, they attempted to cremate Parsons' body by pouring five gallons of gasoline into the open coffin and throwing a lit match inside; what resulted was an enormous fireball.
Dang! When the harmonies kick in is the time I appreciate Emmylou and Linda even more (if that's possible). Their presence elevates this song from good to great. ✌
FYI: Emmylou was Gram's backing vocalist for his recordings and tours. '$1000 Wedding' is killer. She emerged after his death to a long career. Linda? Between the Eagles and JD Souther she covered some musical ground quite early.
Thank you Clint for requesting this wonderful song First time hearing it, it has my girl Linda so I had to love it The harmonies are magnificent and as Harri said, "diamonds in my ears" 🎶✌️🎵💜
Thanks! This is for my request of Emmylou Harris and Willie Nelson performing a duet called "Gulf Coast Highway." It isn't much, but all I can afford right now. I've had a difficult November due to losing 3 family members between November 1st - November 12th. Thank you in advance Harri, should you decide to react to the song. I have been a member for over a year, but rarely comment and am not not on other social media, so this is my only choice!
Hi Harri I read this @carolinasbeauty post and was touched by it. I want to say to her that we're sometimes faced with really tough times in our lives and the death of family members and those who we love is one of the worst. When it happened to us, my wife was told by Leroy Lawson, an American preacher that "You never get over it, but you get through it." @carolinasbeauty I hope that you have good memories of each of these people. In my experience, you smile at them later and you can still feel that in some way they are still with you and this is not the end. Harri, I'll kick in another 20 quid if you give her another choice in memory of those she has lost for a while. Remind me if I forget.@@HarriBestReactions
I just wanted you to know that people care for you, even across the ocean. I knew, too, that songs can sometimes express the words in times of grief that we can't. Two songs that were important to me were Sinead O'Connor's "My Darling Child" and the Kinks' "Days." I don't listen to them now because they make me cry and crying brings back memories of what has gone. But sometimes music can soothe us as well. @@carolinasbeauty
@@pauldover1403 My soul is wrapped up in music and I use it to celebrate the good memories most of the time, but sometimes I need to have a good cry and play something that lets me get that off my chest. You are a very sweet person - your words tell me what knowing you for years could not. Thank you!
Her live "Last Date" album is loaded with tremendous cuts. One that comes to mind is a live version of a tune Parsons wrote, "The Return of the Grievous Angel." Also has flat out blistering guitar work on "Restless."
Great reaction Harri to another artist lost, way too youn@ 26. For more harmonic joy try 'That's All it Took' from GP. Legend has it he had Emmylou sing it as a audition, to see if she had the chop
International Submarine Band, Flying burrito Brothers , solo and of course the most famous of his collaborations, Wild Horses with Keith Richards. Everything he did was golden, too bad he was another one took far too early by drugs and alcohol
Linda was a friend of Gram's and sang with him and Emmylou on this track of Gram's last album. You can hear the added richness of Linda's beautiful voice.
She sang all her songs fantastic...you dont like her style fine...you cannot deny her voice. Have you checked out her songs on you tube and what reactors say about her! Wake up! @@randyventresca4152
Why do you have so use catch phrases like “let’s go get it” when starting a video/song, instead of saying something normal like “here we go”. Wish reactors would just talk normal and stop trying to sound trendy
@@Cynthia... it’s dumb because what does “go get it mean”? Sounds like you’re talking about leaving to go pick something up or obtain something. it would make more sense to say “here we go”, which indicates he is going to start the video. ‘Go get it’ just sounds silly, and doesn’t make sense in the context of starting a video.
