Oh...so I have you to thank for going against this deck like seven times a row today just trying to get dailies done. Thanks, Seth. lol Thanks for the video!
@@thepieguyinthesky2363 standard endured far worse. Dragonstorm in standard could kill turn 2 consistently. Even the Bridge from below decks could win turn 2-3 quite often. They were only marginally faster than the aggro decks of the time. Tapping out right now or not having cheap removal can mean instant death against both black and red.
Oh wow, I've fought against this deck dozens of times the last week and I never knew Starscape Cleric and Conqueror went infinite with each other. I think I've The End'ed the conqueror every single time someone dropped it.
The power of Bloodthirsty Conqueror is absurd. I pulled one with my pre order and then crafted 3 more. Put him right with my Bats and first game, day one of foundations, won by combo. That combo is nasty.
The worst thing about the Bloodthirsty Conqueror OTK though is that, as the person who loses, you cannot just concede once its started. You just have to sit there and let the triggers happen 😆
I feel like having 3+ two card combos in standard to OTK your opponent all in mono black is going to be problematic. Not even stone braining the combo can stop it because they’ll just do one of the other two…
Honestly, after how absurdly brutal red has been since Bloomburrow, this OTK deck doesn't even feel that bad in comparison, which kind of says a lot about how aggressive standard is atm. I mean, pre rotation Swiftspear and Slickshot was red's best creatures, but now Swiftspear is the least good one seen in most of the decks, which is kinda wild 😅 But I think that we have so many answers in Standard atm, that after awhile, players will figure out how to prepare themselves against these combos. That's usually the weakness of combo decks. When they've been figured out, it's not as effective anymore. Opponents will read the situation earlier and set up answers for it, plus it takes some turns to set up those combos. But let's see of course. Good thing about the overhelmingly amount of standard sets that will come out each year, is that things will get shaken up quite often, so that the meta is not gonna be stale for that long, plus we'll still see rotation once each year, which will shake things up even more as usual. We have until mid february for the next set, which will be the longest time between set releases that we've had for some time now. So the 3rd month will probably be a bit stale with control and midrange dominating the format as it used to be. But maybe not as stale with all the different deck options that we have, but let's see what happens 😄
@@nym053red was really good for 1 set, black has been the best colour in standard for like 2 years honestly the mono red and grull aggro decks were a breath of fresh air
Hoist by your own petard is when something you do bites you in the butt. The other person doing what you do but sticking it first isn't the same thing.
Imagine if opponent saves Shoot the Sheriff for something that Anoint with Affliction can't kill like, I don't know, a Bloodthirsty Conqueror, instead of using premium removal on a 2-drop.
The only reason I know the term "OTK" at all is because of Yugioh players - they're a huge deal at my LGS (most of the store's singles orders come from YGO, for example). I don't think I've ever heard them called OTK in Magic before! Seth I dare you to take this concept and port it to Commander!
The most frustrating thing about my morning is the fact that I put this video on in the background and launched Arena, only to immediately get paired against this deck 3 times in a row while listening to it. Absolutely ruined my morning to get destroyed by mono black so much I switched to Timeless and it got worse as I got paired against Phoenix Reanimator. I'm not even in the mood to play Magic anymore I hate it when your frustrating decks become popular
I like the guitar cam, adds a little rock n roll to the whole situation
you beat me to it
Man, none of these creatures die to doomblade.
talk about power creep!

Thanks for the video!
Seth really said "let's make Black having player-deathtouch real."
Switching from a yugioh video to this made alarm bells at the mention of OTK until I calmed down and realized it magic
I'm not so sure if I would still call that Magic
@@zirilan3398 It isn't a terrible thing, but for standard it's kinda an issue

I played against Rush of Dread back to back today and knew I had to go watch whatever jank Seth just put out.

"Half and half equals negative one" -Seth 😂
12:40 no creeping in our holes. Lmao
this feels right up your alley all the rhinos kind of deck

I wonder if there’s a way to cram the Doomsday demon combo into this deck too. Just to really commit to the bit.
Dope Blood Moon Guitar!
KikoMan is a brand, and you see their soy sauce all the time, that's all that name is Seth
LOVE this deck. I am a OTR fanatic. Still play your Boar God One Shot deck.
The first opponent's name is the best😂
Did anybody else see the swamp turn into a cavern at 10:56? What the hell was even that?

This is basically every Dina, soul steeper or Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose cedh deck
Oof those Pokemon-style cards look amazing but they just feel wrong in play.
The bloodthirsty conqueror one looks like garbage lol the art is such a mess it took me like 3 minutes to figure out what I was looking at
@@davidvargas7651 Yeah, that one in particular is way too busy. The fractured foil really obscures the face and makes it look like bat confetti.
The difference between turn one kill, and one turn kill….

The retanguel in the screen make me laught so much... Is just there living is best...
Stupid p2w mythics will make everyone play the same cards.
The mic issue makes it so hard to watch
This format is not good just kill everything
KikoMan is a brand of soy sauce very good, pronounced key-co (like co op) Mon (like Pokémon) 27:41
