An upset customer has parked his range rover outside sytner Wakefield, stickers on it saying 17k lost and uninsurable, been there couple of weeks, a few parking tickets on it as well.
As usual loved watching this. I was talking to somebody about yourself this week and trust. I love how you are honest and trustworthy. Saturday I took friends for a meal and looked at bank statement today, I noticed the transaction did not go through. I have just been to the restaurant to tell them, they were shocked I was honest and as a result i have had a free gift from them plus the transaction sorted. Honesty always pays.
Your one amazing guy , helping my daughter is going above and beyond and I thank you for this 🙏 We will never buy cars from anyone else and always push customers your way ❤
The Disco 2.2 is a solid engine - good choice. I have an Ingenium 2lt Disco and it has been great over 7years and 60k+ . Servicing is key (10k max) and if the engine gets a rattle get it in for a new timing chain straight away. Like any diesel they need a regular good run to clear the DPF.
Ingenium engines are a bag of spanners, my brother in law has an XF and the dealer has 2-3 months worth of repair work on Jaguar and Land Rover with that engine.
My sisters friend was looking at some cars, she was looking at a Fiesta and Clio. I went along with her, at the same dealer I spotted a Fiat Panda, she test drove it and fell in love it, she’s bought it. Just waiting for the dealer to deliver it for her! Not bad cars in my opinion and cheap on insurance, especially with being a new driver is a must!!
Same thing happened to my daughter in her Ford Kuga, they made her a stupid offer and I advised her to say as you said and yipe the insurance company gave her enough to change to another Kuga same year and same spec
I drove a few pandas recently as hire cars, good grief they were awful. Awful gearbox, sharp clutch, the worst speedo I have seen, a black needle on a black dial with a small red blob on the end, coupled with plastic ‘glass’ that reflects light. Hard to believe how crude and dated they are. The 500 interior looks three decades newer.
The 2.0 Ingenium engine is a ticking time bomb, Problems start with the Turbo failing and the engine just munches on the failed turbo bits, Timing chains and cam sprockets fail etc, They really are rubbish.
I had a 2.2 freeloader in, I made a mistake and told the customer it was the earlier engine td4, she used that as a lever to reject it even tho the 2.2 is a really good engine, there were no engine faults, I just think after having a 207 she got a shock how juicey a LR is.
Even at £15995 seems ambitious to be honest it is after all approaching 9yrs old. Are there service invoices avialable will need a transmission oil service as well as its approaching 10 years old preventive measure more than anything just use the right oil service kit. Oh great channel by the way!👍 Ive been looking for one of these prices all over the place!
@@Theleague0fshad0ws It's had a timing belt I believe he said in 2022 hopefully the water pump etc has also been changed people do like to cut corners false economy though!
@@mad_aboutwatches1143 exactly that’s why I mentioned the water pump, not sure if you can just change that if it’s not done or you have to do the whole belt assembly?
The Ingenium diesel engine is aquiring a shocking reputation whereas the 2.2 which I think has Ford origins, seems to be much more up to the job - amazing how JLR got it so wrong - you would have thought they should have perfected how to build an ICE after so many years of development! I believe Insurance companies are supposed to offer a price that would meam you can buy an identical car to the one being written off from a DEALER! but not surprised they are trying to short change people!
Silly low cambelt intervals on those Fiat 1.2 engines. I thought 30k/35k depending on the year was silly low but a mate said he has seen some just a bit over and the belts would not have lasted much longer.
Aren’t those Discovery sports tailgate plastic if so what’s the process for that. In regards to insurance companies I think they seriously need looking into not even just car insurance, all insurance they just seem to be hiking up there premiums and never being challenged and still when you need them there first instinct is to shaft you.
I had no idea that it was an offer from the insurance, I thought that was all you would get when you make a claim. I did not know you could argue/haggle it .
2.2 diesel the Ford Peugeot Citroen engine very good unit as long as cambelt is done but they don’t perform well on economy or speed sadly. That’s where the ingenium was better!
insurance values: if you bought in the last 6 months it ought to be dealer pricing as you had that protection but i can see why they'd potentially be able to claim an aspect of betterment and to base on private pricing after that. Things is how many private sales are there now? life has moved on.
Seen high mileage Ingenuims but they are always Motorway cars with Oil Changes much sooner than the insane JLR recommended intervals, Used for short journeys and infrequent oil changes they really are one of the worst Diesel Engines Available.
Thing being, the ingenium engine is euro 6 'ulez' compliant the 2.2 is euro 5 and will attract an higher tax band and not ulez compliant for the clean air cities, coming to Devon and Cornwall soon, sadly had to sell a perfectly good euro 5 AWD 2.0 kuga 'wife's car' and get her a euro 6 kuga, or it was £8 everytime she gos to Birmingham or Bristol, crazy situation.
Anything made in Britain is a targeted brand if its JLR its more so ive had most models D3 Dico 1&2 still got a 1984 110 v8 at the moment got a jag pace v6 brilliant car not had disco sports so carnt comment but i will say disco 3 to freelander 2.2 never let me down service on time all the usual niggles with any car if they aren't looked after the results are the same with other brands but i must say i stayed away many years ago from landrover service 😉 must my neighbour had various m series bmw had no end of expensive problems but what i could never get my head round at the time was a similar diesel engine in a bmw was so much cheaper road tax😂
I will never understand how folk can spend such a huge chunk of their hard-earned money on a car, and then treat it with the complete disregard that that LR has obviously suffered.
Bit ridiculous to call that Fiat a cat S, yeah it's a lot of work to cut out the bits of the outer skin and replace and paint. But that's a non cost effective write off not a structural one
Only 25k miles. Because the rest of the time the bloody thing wouldn't start. :-) Only kidding. They're fine if looked after. And low mileage. And not too old. And still in warranty. And owned by someone else entirely. Joking aside. They're seriously not so bad as the legend says, which I think is there because of people with a champagne taste but lemonade budget who try to run it on a shoestring. So, to me, that one looks a good one.

5:40 The Panda comes complete with a Hub Nut sticker. The subscriber who sold you the car is a gentleman and a scholar 👍
Noticed that too
Watched/listened to you on stage yesterday at Rustival having a chat. You did well, and came across like a proffesional. Nice one..
Much appreciated mate
Hello James, another enjoyable video, varied content and good advice / information about insurance companies!! Best wishes from Lincolnshire
Absolutely brilliant to meet you at Rustival, Hope you had an uneventful and safe journey back, looking forward to more content soon!
Yep all good home mate, fantastic to finally meet you!
Always great content from you sir and your always very fair with your customers
I appreciate that!
Had a 1.2 panda for just over a year , you can get a few bags of shopping in the boot , and like you say about the tyres , they help on rough roads 👍
Thanks for your advice with insurance companies
Another great video James. 👍👍👍👍👍
Good and fair advice as always... Thank you
My pleasure!

I had one as a hire car last year. Brand new but an absolutely awful drive.
The 2.2 8 bullet proof if serviced regularly. Get that dent done by PDR and keep original paint.
If that had been a 2L discovery with 25k on the clock, you would have to say 25 on the clock but 100k on the recovery trailer lol
Same thing happened to my daughter in her Ford Kuga, they made her a stupid offer and I advised her to say as you said and yipe the insurance company gave her enough to change to another Kuga same year and same spec
Don’t be loading the Range Rover with oil this time😂 good video👍🏻
Yep thats right, get the grinder on that back bumper, if its still there when you come back!
It's a wait and see game. Money 💰 is tight from the word go
Really nice Discovery Sport, Matt from High Peak Autos loves his Range Rovers. The blue Fiat 500 looks amazing. Great video as always
Thanks! 👍
@@ChopsGarage you're welcome
Your Moore's garage sounds a wonderful place. Pity I live so far away. You have lucky customers and I hope they know it!
They are!
Clue with the 500 was timing code, ie the timing was out, common on chains, less so on a belt tho.
Cheaper/quicker to buy a secondhand Disco tailgate in colour? Could you get the Panda bonnet dent out with your thumb?
Great mate loved it

The petrol ones are not too bad. But I agree the diesels are particularly bad at short runs.
Got one 60k and hasn't missed a beat ..
Sounds a bit like my old td4 to be fair😂
I can sleep at night now knowing what went wrong with the Fiat! Lol
I know mate , it was a public duty fulfilled!

Plus a timing belt and water pump due at 10 years which it’s approaching.

Yep seen it happen loads
Lower insurance bids are (were) supposed to be covered buy gap insurance, but they've banned it now.
Hi James, did you remember to fill the range rover boot full of oil for this trip? 😅😅😅😅😅😅
For those looking for a Ford Focus replacement consider the Mazda 3.
£17K for an old Discovery haha.Absolute madness.Sorry but i,ve seen too much about these.
Silly low cambelt intervals on those Fiat 1.2 engines. I thought 30k/35k depending on the year was silly low but a mate said he has seen some just a bit over and the belts would not have lasted much longer.
Nice the engine

Same LR going thru auction next week bud, 104k, guide is 6k,look affordable in your area.
Sold that already but , took a strong trade offer
@@ChopsGarage your the main man bud

.
I think they rely on that
Took a mate of mine 6 months to get a decent settlement. 1st was 8k and he ended up with 14k
LR would have been OK at say 11500, purchase price, great margin then at 15k
Panda is the best thing Fiat ever made ❤

Pump the tyre up on the fiat 500 😮😊
I really think if you was to gravel your lot it would make such a huge difference around the lot
When you have a stranger help you out always tell them you will take a picture of them for security

Can't see it coming anywhere near me thank god
Brave purchase how the market is for land rover products, but I'm sure you'll be OK.
I just hope you took all the empty oil cans out of the RR this time James
Its a plastic bumber 2 pans of hot water on it and push it out from underneath easy
Always reject the first offer. The second will be much closer.
Ulez compliant cars skyrocketed in London
The 2.2 diesel is not ulez compliant in London. Had to sell my reliable Freelander 2 because of it.
Is Doom Blue an official JLR colour then….?🤔🤔🤔
… Bet that looks good in the brochure..🤣🤣🤣
Doom blue is a flat non-metallic dark blue.
I’d have said 15k maximum
INGENIUM
Discovery sport with the 2.2d with ZF AUTO are very reliable. It's the old Ford duratorq unit Modded by PSA for more power
Low mileage cos they spend all their time off the road in the garage.
Panda has very poor crash rating.
James you do know that if the windscreen was damaged on fiat 500 that is structural cat s
No , good info! Could well of broken with the damage on pillars
Avoid the 2.0 ingenium engine absolutely go to that right engine oh dear don't get a mini
Cheers
Not a problem James 😊
Up here in devon... lol mean down..
Depends if you are in South Devon or Cornwall 🤣

Yep they need a different category
If your struggling for paint then get stuck in with your compressor, get ambitious bud.
Yet to deal with an ins company in 40 years of trading that aren’t absolute shitbags!
Its got all the good stuff. Electronic handbrake 😂

Inurance? Tried that myself and the Battle with Hastings ensued. A truly dreadful insurance claim experience...
