- Genoa Italy 🇮🇹 | LOVE HATE RELATIONSHIP... Here's why?
Genoa, Italy really surprised us... in a good way and a bad way!!!
There are so many things to do in Genoa, beautiful sights to explore, and amazing food to eat! Torta e Farinata, Via Balbi, Piazza De ferrari, Via XX Settembre, Christopher Columbus House, St. Andrew cloister ruins, Porta Soprana, Santa Maria Di Castello, Porto Antico, Palazzo San Giorgio, Cattedrale Di San Lorenzo, Zena Zuena, Galleria Giuseppe Mazzini, Via Giuseppe Garibaldi, Le Fantasie Di Gio, Focaccia e Dintorni. The Ligurian Coast has a very different feel to say... the Amalfi BUT that's not all. The Italian people, the architecture & the ambience is VERY DIFFERENT. It took a while for us to adjust. The French influence is strong throughout the city! We love you Italy...

We are Eleise and Lawrence & Nyh - A young family from the south of England. Like many people the pandemic gave us a shake up! While watching hours of Mark Weins in Thailand - We had our “Ah ha” Moment. We decided we wanted to travel.
Enjoying working for ourselves, we didn’t want to give up our business and decided it was entirely possible for us to do both. So we set about making it our lifestyle to work in the UK for a month, and then travel for a month - month on, month off…. until our little boy Nyh goes to school! We want to inspire people that you don’t have to up-sticks, sell all your belongings and leave behind family to be able to see the world.
Our Philosophy. Work, Travel, Repeat.

Are you half chinese and half black?
Definitely rocky start guys, but that's Genova, it grows inside you little by little, until you fall in love. Come back soon! Fabio from Genova!!!
as an American, I have loved my family's times in Genoa and loved the people and had great interactions.
Hi, i am following you both from Thailand , hopfully you will come back to visit here again
Hey Somsak!!! Thank you for following ☺️ We will definitely be back to Thailand soon! Thank you 🖤
As a guy from Genoa , I confirm that most people from Liguria aren't really ..uhm... welcoming. The hostility to outsiders is a part of our tradition ("foresti" is a denigratory word for outsiders, "bauscia" is reserved for those who come from Lombardy), but many shopkeepers are also rude to Genoese themselves. (sorry for bad english)
😂 Thank you for the honesty! They do have a kind of 'off' charm about them! We warmed to them in the end... it just took some getting use to ☺️🖤
+colabrodo : i bauscioni sono solo i milanesi .
Are people in Piemonte more friendly ? Trying to decide on where to live once I get my Italian citizenship. I want access to outdoor sports and culture too. Maybe turino (?) Grazie
Well done guys, another great vlog. The aquarium looked amazing 👍🤩
Thank you 🖤.. The aquarium was really impressive! Maybe the best we've been to! We really appreciate your comments 😁 🖤🖤🖤
Wow, you still remember Thai words. 🇹🇭💖👍
☺️ I will never forget !!! 😂🇹🇭🖤
Def stiff in that part but still lovely 🇮🇹
It was really strange Daniel!! Especially coming from Florence... felt like we were in Germany (No offence 🇩🇪). By the end... it won us over ☺️🖤
Genova
Love you 🤍
I like how you decided you hate it as soon as you arrived. Give it a minute, jeez lol
Genova functions strictly as a business city centered around the port and international trade. The Genoese have never catered to tourists and outsiders and even among Italians, it is not a tourist destination. Also, the stereotype in Italy is that the Genoese are really attached to their cash, so if you're not directly improving their cash flow, they may not want to talk to you. Yes, overall a rather standoffish lot.
Ahhh very interesting! And makes a lot of sense 🖤
But also very sad that you say that as a tourist. That shows some narrow minded and short sighted approach to culture . .. I would suggest you live there before judging....
5:27 - ecco , in Italia ci vorrebbero bagni e docce pubbliche ... ovunque .
French influence? Are you ok? Ahahha
😂🙈
Influenza francese 😂. È Genova che ha influenzato la costa azzurra non il contrario
I have the feeling that this entire city would be banned in the USA for serious violations of safety codes. Hundreds of thousands of people crammed into these old buildings with very narrow streets, way too narrow for emergency vehicles like fire engines, and ambulances. Is there sufficient water plugs/outlets available throughout the city for fire engines to hook up easily to put our fires? Italian American, ancestors in Florence.
Italians use wood very little for building construction. In Genoa there's extensive use of stone, concrete and marble, even if many buildings are 500+ years old. Floor is often "a la veneziana" (seamless coating composed by some marble and stone aggregates, mixed with pebble lime or concrete). That is very safe as far as fire is concerned.
You guys need to live , enjoy life and surrounding beauty, not to think about fire safety!! For sure in Italy we ban American food that is way more dangerous!!😂!😂😂
Most of the historic buildings you've seen pre-date 1492, are made of stone, brick and concrete and not wood and plastic. If they have resisted for centuries there must be a reason. My house dates back to the 14th century, is made of stone and brick, the wooden frame roof is covered in stone slabs (slate), and was redone in the 18th century. Still perfect.
😂
