Why Jon Stewart WILL Save Us

- In our time of political division and rising extremism, we need a hero. We'll get a zero instead with comedian Jon Stewart back on the Daily show on comedy central. Jon is an interesting pubic figure, offering a both side view of politics. Critics of his work will say that he is dated, that politics in the modern age is too aggressive and trying to take a balanced view doesn't work anymore. But they miss the fact that that attitude literally makes things unbalanced. Jon offers a long forgotten view of the news, one that is relaxed, rational and calming. Even if he's not perfect, even if he focuses too much right wing madness and not enough on left wing madness, or if his analysis is lacking substance, just having someone who still believes in democracy and discussion is a miracle in modern times. Ultimately, there are too many people who want a savior and are burned out with the incremental processes of democracy. We have forgotten how lucky we are to have civil liberties, a constitution and functional stable institutions. Jon doesn't take those things for granted, and maybe with a little help from him, we can all calm down enough to care for our country the way it needs.

you nailed it. Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if we had Jon Stewart as POTUS with John Oliver as VP? I have been primed in fight or flight mode since the Dumpster announced his candidacy. The spring release is twisted so tight. I listen to Jon and see the reality of the danger we are in for the genuine threat that it is. We need to resist the fascism.

He’s genuine he’s authentic, at a time when we seem to retreat into our tribes politically speaking, the game of politics to treat the other side as the other and apart has truly destroyed us as a society. It’s not that one should not have a strong stance but one should always seek out voices from the other side, and sometimes that is hard, I understand many people can sound ridiculous, but in such a world I do truly appreciate a heart and a comedic voice that looks to cut away the many tensions of politics.
I'm very excited to have found you at this point bc I genuinely hope you grow exponentially. Reasonable arguments with actual facts?! Faith in humanity restored keep it up. I'll do my best to spread the word.

I share your choice of heroes. Stewart and Oliver are the smartest funnymen going! (funniest smartmen?) I feel smarter - well, better informed - after watching them, and I definitely don't feel depressed or pessimistic about the future. Chin up, young people are our future. That means you.

Love this view, I share it. Sucks that I live in a way worse country, but most of my country's decisions are made with a nod from US Embassy, so US politics matters in some way for me too.

Let's be real, none of the MAGA republicans will watch The Daily show. Also Americans are notoriously stubborn in changing their mind.
True, we all crave stability, somewhere along the way that became the American dream rather than freedom. Still, it is healthy to have hope.
He wont. I like him and he's got good poilitics but just look at the Rally to Restore Sanity/Fear. His appeal is mostly to the same demographic that will keep voting over and over again for the same centrist warhawks that have made too much of a business out of "at least we're not the fascist" that they will never offer any real and radical change for the better.
Only time will tell, change is slow
