All I learned from video is.. Don’t make bad decisions in life or it will cost you later. Something our parents should have taught us.
This was a great documentary! Thank you.
#hiphopculture
I think it also it teaches you to expect change. Even the gentleman who got his 2 yr degree may find the job he gets today may be obsolete in 10-15 yrs and he may have to retool again.
There is no middle anymore, you have it or you don't,that's it.
I feel if you have a degree you should go for the highest paid position to get out of debt. You can always go back to the company you love later.
Common sense
So Tawnya gets a MBA, get's a few job offers for over 100k outside of her city, refuses to leave Indiapolis, then cries about the pay?!?!? That makes ZERO sense to me. As for Donte, "BRUHHH leave that gf of yours alone!" Based on the way you spoke, it doesn't seem like those are your kids and I counted about 3-4 of them! Why subject yourself to that kind of life (financially) when you don't have to. You've literally decided to make someone else's struggle your own. Indiana is a crappy place anyway... and the state itself is racist af! I'd leave that place on the first thing smoking!
“…Am I my brother’s keeper?”
@@geekmeeeno.
You’re 100% right but their community will tell them they’re doing the right thing. Tawnya should leave that community, get that $100k+ job and make sure her kids do the right thing earlier in life so she doesn’t have to finance it on the back end.
Donte has low self esteem. No doubt about it. He seems like a hard worker( which is rare in 2023). He should go find a woman with no kids and build a family that way. Dating Tamika with 3-4 kids and a recipe for HELL!
He would be better off sitting in prison for a few years than taking on Tamika with 3-4 kids!
@@youtubeguy4539 Low self esteem? Prison? That's a little harsh man, I wouldn't take it that far.
@@tezh5897 yeah, you have to have low self esteem to date a woman covered in tats with 4 kids. And you must have never been through family court. She could put him on child support and he’s stuck!
So the lady waa offered great job opportunities of $120-$135k but she doesn't want to move😂😂
I would have moved lol and still try to negotiate higher! 😂
Goofy
"Having the freedom to do what you want, when you want, that's the American dream to me." Right on, Brother!
By accepting a higher paying job with more security, you can form an organization to help people in your community. You can also save up and later move back to your community. There are plenty of remote jobs as well. Keep your options open.
Please help me find one of those remote jobs
@@quelquun2018 get that out of your mind. Remote work is over. The big wigs need those office buildings full.
I wasn’t a very smart student in school, so after high school I went and got a job . I saved as much money as I possibly could and will be retiring in the near future.
I define "class" by your income. You can take yourself out of a low income neighbourhood if you make a high income, but you can't take yourself out of a low income neighbourhood/lifestyle if you are on a low income.
It blows my mind that people have so many kids when they are struggling. This norm will destroy the opportunity of generations. No child planning is absolutely something that can fatally wound your future self and potential. Even though the woman here got a master's degree, imagine the opportunity she could give one or two kids instead of five. I do however appreciate her drive to help others, it's sad to see how more kids can be a burden that many can't come up from under.
You make an excellent point, you really do,I totally agree.
That young man should probably get rid of that woman and her kids. He’s locking himself in poverty
Im retiring in 11 days. Stop trying to get "meaningful" and "fun" work. You are an adult now. Funtime is over. You have evenings and weekends and vacations to have fun. Now is time for boring, mundane office jobs (with health care and 401k) that you hated the thought of as a kid. I was bored for 35 years, and sure wasnt defeating Hitler or curing cancer or anything important like that. This is what you do. No more retail. No more Pizza Hut. Temp only to get into the front door and tell everyone inside you want more, and keep doing it. Dont need a degree to be a competent, useful employee who is promotion potential. Time to grow up, children. Dreams of fun and enrichment is over.
I love the "can do" positive attitude of these people!
That alone is the first big step to a brighter future.
God bless, I wish you all a happy, successful life!
All talk and no action
I do not have sympathy for someone offered a 120k
Wonderful short documentary! I hope the best for both of them on their journeys 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Oh, these are STRONG, PROUD WARRIORS !!!! WARRIORS !!!! Yet, they are whining and crying about pretty much everything. Pathetic.
The brother at 12:40 need to leave that woman alone with them kids, u talking about not settling for less but why would u settle for a woman with kids, trust me life is a lot easier without baggage!!!
He's a fool.
Totally agreed. I can see a child he is helping but more than that he is just working to support them and the mother usually how it ends up. Sorry he thinks he smart that is not a bright lightbulb at all. It's not my job nor I'm obligated to raise someone else kids and I refused to put myself in that situation especially I'm making a good living.
AGREE!!💯
If he has any sense he'll be gone once the checks start rolling in and he's not seeing any of his own money. Hopefully he doesn't knock her up first
He probably has low self esteem and got with the first woman who lets him push and pull every other night. Men aim low and HIT!
Salute to both of these amazing beings with great mindsets and perspective. 🎉 God got us
This started gradually in the 1970’s. I was concerned when Coca Cola Foods moved to Saudi Arabia.
This is so inspiring to me. I recently watched a video interviewing young South Koreans, and i was taken by how so many of them were driven by the need to improve themselves. I though to myself, "This is what we need in America!" And lo and behold, I come across this video with typical Americans expressing the same sentiment. Maybe there is hope for us!
He had no business getting that car. That’s one thing about AA’s. We buy silly sh*t before we buy homes.
He was better off continuing his education with an addition of education, which he decided to do with the engineering program mentioned.
I have shared this before: An elderly Jewish gentle told my great uncle when he was young man, perhaps in the late 1930's or so, that a time will come in America where you will only be two types of people: the rich and the poor.
Anyone doubt his assessment and that we are quickly headed there.
So thankful to be single and no children.
I cannot for the life of me understand when people get in hardship or have financial trouble the first thing they say is I need to go to school😅 that just boggles my mind. No need to fear industrial Dave is here
its the CAN DO attitude, wanting to break the cycle and making sure her children don't end up in a cycle of poverty..... LOVE IT
The middle class is disappearing, we have an immigration problem, and the cost of living, hasn't caught up with , a living wage.Technology has caused many jobs, to become obsolete
stop blaming immigration
It's either working manually or having a very high intellect. Not much left for in between.
We need more immigrants
@@mirandasmith6856 For what?
@@nnyv0040 So unfettered immigration is a good thing? how come immigrants are against immigration to their countries of origin?
Most people confuse middle class and working class.
The voice overs with the governor and the higher ed person feel a little tone deaf when compared to the story of the woman who is dealing with an unnecessary and overpriced degree. The colleges and subsequent loans are predatory and that’s where the story should have focused.
Not really seeing how her degree was unnecessary. She's getting job offers of over 125k/year but refuses to accept them. She wouldn't be getting those offers without her MBA.
Her degree is not unnecessary nor overpriced. She has an MBA. The problem is she refuses to go where the money is so she can earn enough to get a good ROI on her degree.
11:30 Not all situations are the same, however, she’s well aware of the trade off. She has been given options to pursue positions in corporate America for $120k a year but she doesn’t want to give up what she loves (even if she is struggling financially). Sounds like she’s accepted her decision.
The woman with the MBA needs to call those companies back that were interested in her. She can donate money, mentor and volunteer in her free time. She can also be a mentor to young people in corporate America.
the world is a stage. we have plenty in the world to go around and around...but the corruption is keeping so many people struggling.
People don’t even consider landlords don’t want a family with 6 children and 2 adults. The wear and tear is to much. There are a large number of challenges. I’m glad she didn’t let it hold her back.
Why is it that most people in these documentaries become consentual teen parents and then have another and another baby to add to their struggle? Rhetorical question but just what I notice
people are not perfect and not everyone makes "good" decisions at a young age. this lady is a shining example of breaking the cycle.
Having a child young with a black male your trajectory is going to be poverty just bad decisions all around
Yea I agree, making bad choices and blaming everyone else 🤦🏾♂️.
AA’s still don’t know how to navigate this country. Her MBA putting her in debt. SMH that’s not how you do it.
Human beings evolved to live in matriarchal tribes, not marriages.
If we lived in tribes the way nature created us to live in, everything would be so much better, but we are addicted to the Romeo and Juliet lifestyle. We are obsessed with being “in love;” it’s a form of addiction, and it’s ruining human kind.
I come from the UK and class is a very British import. I think you need to distinguish between Professional (certification - Lawyer/Doctor/Engineer (Masters) / Professor (tenured)) and Artisan (Plumber / Carpenter / Electrician / Construction / etc...) ? Both can we successful or living well beyond their means.
When i look at the situation i think we are not too far from a social explosion around the world.we all have a responsiblity to make the world a better place for each human being.how come people from middle class could take their family to the mall when their income is lower than their expense.why do you need 10 mansions when you could only sleep in one of them .when you own so much you are responsible for the world to be so miserable.
I just freakin hate the term "skill set."
Make corporations lower prices. Problem fucking solved!!!
Fewer humans need to be created.
Rename this video ‘The self-imposed struggles of the middle class’.
Life is happening to everyone …
Life is happening to everyone but like u said a lot of people are doing this to themselves. I am a physical therapist married with 4 kids. Some of my friends in healthcare are making more than us and are struggling. Putting coffee, trips, hair, purses on cc and complaining of being broke.
When we got out of debt using dave Ramsey from 2014-2016 i told them abt hom and they laughed. They are in a worse situation than what they were in. Never changed and kept spending 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
@@bellad1063yea but having multiple kids and trying to keep up with the Jones’s will have u down bad.. middle class is over 250k in income and a positive net worth most folks like me is the working class if u read the actual definition most folks in America don’t qualify
Yea I agree. A lot of people do it to themselves. Yes things happen to people no one can control, but, if you're stupid, and d don't budget,,
Regardless of what you make, if you get into huge debt, finance everything, take out loans on everything.and go out every night..uhm that's being stupid and irresponsible.
My ex in-laws made loads of money
(250k -ish). but spent like they made 3 times that.
The overpriced degrees are dumb too.
If you think 70-90 I is good. For gigantic student loans.
Yo can make that with certs. And minimal debt of at all.
Middle class imo is basically,
You make a tad over the average salary,
you can meet all your debts and bills AND
Have savings.
And have a budget for fun.
To put it simply, if you can take care of your life and still have money left over. That's a middle class.
If you have an emergency fund, and can cover bs like busted ac, repairs, a plumbing bill, etc that's middle class.
We eff up the definition nowadays since everyone needs to fake everything and all that.
Exactly 🤦🏾♂️
lol I live in Indianapolis & it’s one of the best places to live in terms of cost of living & job availability…
Our problem are these corporations fixing their prices cause their in competition with each other we need corporations who compete for us not against and a government for us instead of corporations.
Maybe don't keep electing politicians that put your wellbeing last.
How far can one go on I seventh
Middle class Is a mindset.
No it’s not lol.
I'm not sure what this is about, but it's not about what the title indicates.
I'm a high-school graduate and I make about 95k same with my wife and she makes 140k. College degree... sure you have a "chance" of making good money but I took that time and build up my skills for the job I currently have.
Nice documentary but it appears the people highlighted choose to struggle.
Amazing carrier went bankrupt and he had to reeducate himself for a new career. O carrier didn’t close the greedy CEO or corporation moved to another country for cheap labor! Ross Perot explained what would happen with NAFTA and other free trade alliances. When this young man retrains in another profession then they decide to outsource to a third world country for cheap labor I guess he can go back to school and retrain again! O how about the old workers that had months maybe a year to retirement? 75 million manufacturing jobs lost in AMERICA went from 40% union to less than 7% in private sector! Facts are until American corporate government fixes these trade policies the working class or if you like middle class will keep disappearing. “ FACT” This was completely by design because our government is a group of college educated individuals paid by special interest groups LOBBYISTS if I may…
That's issue happened when 30% of colleges graduate student with gender studies major 😂😂😂. Enjoy your 200,000$ debt
No one, can predict the future. BUT it is kinda easy to predict. ~ Middle Class=Certain amount of $$$ per Hour. That has to be sustained, until you die. What is your Skillset?
You gotta make at least 4 grand to 5 to be considered middle class here in Tennessee you could have two cars nice home for bout 5 grand a month that's a big jump from the 1980s when growing up we could go to McDonald's feed a family of 4 for 7 dollars that's with large drinks..
the more of these doco's i watch the more i notice a pattern. its predominantly single moms. these are the "strong independent women" ive been told for 50 years "don't need no man". well, i guess this is the consequence of that, and the life they chose. best of luck girls.
Yep. 100% accurate.
Black men left the home since reconstruction thier has been no black family I did research on this it’s a myth the fatherless rate in the black community is 80% … statistically having kids with a black man is the quickest way to end up in poverty.. that’s a myth black males told themselves the world knows what’s the issue is in the black community it’s the lack of actual men in the community
oh can it. go after the deadbeats who abandon them.
@@jones2277 If the deadbeat, male or female, fails to pay child support.... I fully agree. Past that, "Via con Dios".
@@jones2277 abandon them ? but they don't need no man. how can they on the one hand claim they don't need no man, and then on the other claim abandonment when said men accept them at their word and don't hang around ? sounds like a two year old temper tantrum. then again, women do carry on like toddlers don't they.
I used to believe that I was middle class.
I think there’s a “ Misdefinition” of status. The lady at the start of the video is actually poor working class. Poor working class. She’s never had $1k in savings. She more than likely is zoned to low education school . She may have public transportation in her area and she doesn’t know anyone who has a life insurance policy. Not to mention that she’s AA which means her neighborhood has almost no dual income families with father and mother present under 1 roof. If she would properly categorize herself as poor working class, she probably wouldn’t be complaining about her status or change in economics.
she as a middleclass sells you a course about how to become "wealth"?...it sounds like a scam...if she told me she is a model I wouldn´t believeher either
What a ridiculous take. She’s teaching people to move off of welfare and create a life for themselves. She’s not only providing a valuable service to the public but she’s moved through poverty herself.

What's interesting with them is that they want all these illegitimate unplanned fetuses to born but don't want to pay for them with higher taxes.
I also don't see them lining up by the thousands to adopt any that don't have homes.
Can you say hypocrite? 😳
The middle class has been hurt real bad by illegal immigration and US jobs leaving the country. Blue collar jobs like construction or general labor pool got saturated. An excess work force keeps wages low because of supply and demand (economics 101).
When Bill Clinton pushed for China to get in the World Trade Organization with most favored nation status, the giant sucking sound of middle class jobs moving to China also put pressure on the manufacturing that remained.Illegal immigration hurts poor Americans the most, who hires illegals? Rich people do.
Continuous deficit spending by the US government pushed inflation and middle class wages remained stagnant.Families that used to make it on one salary needed both spouses to have jobs or they struggled.
This put strains on the family unit and divorce rates started to rise. Single parent households are one wrung from being in poverty. College loans put people in debt instead of improving prospects.
