How is it a weakness when he finished him both fights under 5 rounds combined? Edit: I missread what u wrote lol. I don't think anyone forgot jiri was champ but Alex's kickboxing is the best the ufc has seen since guys like lyoto at lhw. The only guy to beat him is izzy who has just as good kickboxing skills as alex. It's hard to beat guys like that without grappling
@@TSKDeadshot izzy is actually the noticeably better kickboxer in terms of skills, alex is a big man who carries the equalizing factor, which is generating extreme power that hurts folks and often leads to brutal KOs.

When Frank finished Igor, that was one of the most poetically impressive lift and slam executions we saw in that era. From start to finish in slow-mo, there was a confidence in Frank's look that likely instilled fear in the masses and that very finish is still as beautiful today as it was all the way back when. I love the part where Franky is smoking a cigar, chilling on his lawn chair and calling Dana out. Lol.
@SaTIndianMedicine he was just on the Jaxxon podcast. He said he thought he killed Igor with that slam and killed the sport at the same time. It was a great listen from one of the pioneers of the game. I do agree though one of the prettiest slam ko's ever.
I watched each champion fight in their respective eras in real-time. It was a different kind of energy with every experience and then you tack on Pride FC's moment with the sport, and the smaller feeder leagues.... Even the arranged unofficial fights with huge starpower...Man, what a crazy life it must have been to be professionally involved and to see all of it go down firsthand... I remember the politics both corrupted or not, the bad blood, the controversies, the bar scenes, the golden age, the great merge, the backstage shenanigans, from hotel lobby weigh-ins to what you see today, etc,. etc,. etc,. It has been quite the ride which I still very much enjoy like I have since 1993.
Light heavyweight used to be so deep during the Rampage-Forrest-Rashad-Shogun-Machida era. Literally anyone in the top 10 could beat anyone in the top 10 at any time…and then came Jon Jones
@jboi6398 yeah, given how close a lot of Jon's fights were and the fact that his strength (aka steroids) and size (HW frame) was his best weapon, Jon would not be where he is without cheating. Imagine if he wasn't on roids for his closer fights like against Gus, DC or Reyes, or if those guys were also on roids, Jon would have lost those for sure.

12:08 It's nice that they put the timeline at a glance like this, but it's wack that they devalued the Pride FC legacy by excluding Rampage's unification bout against Hendo to unify the UFC and Pride 205-pound titles. Anyone who knows anything about MMA history knows how monumental of an occasion that fight was. I guess it's because they considered it more of a "Defense" than a unification bout between two promotions and this is about times the belt changed hands, but still.
