    As an Australian of Greek descent of course it would have been nice to see Tsitsipas win, but what we saw on the court was a tiumph of the human spirit to beat sustained psychological and physical attacks on the mind and the body.. and as the son of a migrant I witnessed a victory of much more than that over an opponent in a tennis match. Bravo Novak.

    The great strategist that Novak is on court unequivocally manifested when he saves break point being down 4-5 at 30-40. Unlike the rest, he is not afraid to hit to Tstispas's forehand, move him sideways and then hit deep into his vulnerable single handed backhand to extract an error. That was indeed a clutch point which changed the contour of the whole match. If Tstispas had broken him then, anything could have happened. But then Novak is a clutch player and it is this unique quality which has fetched him so many rewards throughout his career.

      I think djokovic will have to end with more than nadal to actually settle the debate for most avid nadal fans, and even then, I think a lot of the nadal nuthuggers won't be able to accept it haha. I mean the amount of comments you see on some videos of djokovic saying "No matter how many GS djokovic wins, he will NEVER be greater than federer or nadal" should be enough to let you know how obstinate some of these fans are.
      Also to be fair, nadal could very well still pull a resurgence and win the FO this year like hes done so many times in the past. I'd say he's earned enough respect for us to never count him out until he's hung it up for good.

      @thebigsquirrel50 Год назад

      @Patrick Stewart Sure it is. Of course, do you have to agree with what any government decides? No. But he did indeed have a choice.
      "Government interference" is more like what happened at Wimbledon, where Russians and Belarusians could not play regardless of what their opinions of the war were.
      Again, do you have to like it? No, and I definitely didn't after watching the BS go down over the course of that next month or so (sitting here in the US, I know our own international laws regarding covid do nothing; he should've been able to play). But Novak's choice led to what occurred in 2022. And he was (ultimately) fine with his own choices, leading to not being able to play.
